although I loved the article, something inside says it was NOT written by a French infantryman, but by someone with an agenda, whatever that agenda may be...

The lesson here is, never

The lesson here is, never judge people by the actions of their politicians. This is especially true when comparing soldiers to politicians. The soldiers are the best the nation has to offer, the politicians are the worst. Of course, this is a generalization. There are a few bad apples in the military ranks, and there are a handful of statesmen serving in government.
