For those who follow Steve Wilson

He is being cut from his latest post....

http://www.freep.com/article/20100226/ENT03/2260373/1318/Rep...

For Freedom!
The World is my country, all mankind is my brethren, to do good is my religion.

This shouldn't surprise anyone

There was another incident involving Fox a while back wherein two reporters were being forced to report a story known to be false. The story was related to a food additive given to cows to increase milk production. The additive is harmful to humans, but that part was conveniently left out of the story.

The reporters ended up suing Fox. The end result of the suit was that a Florida district court officially ruled that the news media is legally allowed to lie and spread disinformation under the 1st amendment.

And have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sGs8eFld1U .

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected the promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world-government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the National autodetermination practiced in past centuries."

- David Rockefeller in an address to a Trilateral Commission meeting in June of 1991

Yet, sadly, it surprises a great many people... people who forget in a couple of weeks and go right back to relying on the media to administer their reality.

Of the nearly 30,000 members and 3 years of the DP's existence, did you sincerely think no one else had every posted this information?

Perhaps the title element needs to work like this when creating posts.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it."

Ground Hog Day (ala Murray)

Wow, that search worked well.

What if new post aggregated the previous posts. I guess you did.

I didn't get the "like this" link

Free includes debt-free!

Joη's picture

??did it not work

you typed in a new title in the input field and nothing happened?

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it."

dexterszyd's picture

First time I saw it

Guess it pays to post and post again...

Thanks again Liberty Belle....

no, it pays to learn from history!

to search! As a group, you're wasting time repeating yourselves when this information has already been discussed at length.

"If I haven't seen it, it's new to me" is a form of collective alzheimers, which does no good.

If you were really amazed at something you just learned, put a comment in the post that already exists for it! Then it's bumped, new information is added, and everyone's happy.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it."

For real Jon?

Your that concerned about that?

In short, yes

<rant>

What year is it?
How much has been done for the 2012 campaign?
Have we each exhausted every venue, option, form of media, debate tactic, and philosophy available in this effort?
Scroll down and look at the amount of trolling on this page alone. This is time wasted. On a repeat subject.
Get out, for goodness sakes and do something!
If you choose to stay online, truly meditate upon what the collective, recorded consciousness of the internet is, and stop thinking you can copy and paste new content! This tool is far more powerful.

"You underestimate the character of man." | "So be off now, and set about it."

Ditto.

"I think we are living in a world of lies: lies that don't even know they are lies, because they are the children and grandchildren of lies." ~ Chris Floyd

The media has the right to distort according to the ruling.

A court ruled that the FCC's "position against news distortion is only a 'policy,' not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation."

Which means this statement: “rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest” is just a meaningless collection of words.

http://www.ceasespin.org/ceasespin_blog/ceasespin_blogger_fi...

"The court did not dispute the heart of Akre's claim, that Fox pressured her to broadcast a false story to protect the broadcaster from having to defend the truth in court, as well as suffer the ire of irate advertisers. Fox argued from the first, and failed on three separate occasions, in front of three different judges, to have the case tossed out on the grounds there is no hard, fast, and written rule against deliberate distortion of the news.
...
In its six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a "policy," not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation. Fox aired a report after the ruling saying it was "totally vindicated" by the verdict."

I view almost everything on the "news" with suspicion.

Which is why it makes no sense for the liberty movement

to spend much time attacking the press for being biased, or for distorting things. If Ron Paul gets his ideal libertarian society where there is no regulation of the press at all, the press will only have even more freedom to do what it wants. We need to focus more on changing government, not the press.

"FCC control of broadcast content, whether through licensing, regulations, or fines, is naked censorship that is utterly at odds with the plain words of the First Amendment. It could not be any clearer: “Congress shall make no law.”" - Ron Paul

"“Censorship” is a term pertaining only to governmental action. No private action is censorship. No private individual or agency can silence a man or suppress a publication; only the government can do so." -Ayn Rand

We shouldn't even need to be told that they have an agenda.

Everyone has an agenda. For some it is blurring the uncomfortable truths for other it is making the truth apparent.

I agree that government regulation of the press only imposes censorship based on political whim. It will only serve to bring a false belief that honesty is required.

Networks don't care if people complain about their shows, as long as they are still watching.

If they are not producing the product you want, switch them off. Telling others of your stand is more effective than complaining to the government, the network or their advertisers.

Uncovering the actual facts and asking questions of validity, or even attacking networks is still great fun.

Free includes debt-free!

When "the press" (FOX)

sponsors a debate and excludes Ron Paul, yes they SHOULD be criticized. When a Biased news organization adopts the slogan: Fair and Balanced, they SHOULD be criticized. When a biased news organization shamelessly defends a war that was based on false information given to the public, they should be criticized. And when Scott McClellan admits that the WH was giving FOX News pundits talking points, and those pundits used those talking points, then they should be criticized.

How do you expect to change the government when the press, who has the right to intentionally mislead the people, is in bed with the government?

Maybe

I'm just suggesting not spending "too much time" on it. The press is always going to be opinionated and baised. That comes with a free press.

And it's a fine line from complaining about the press being biased to wanting the government to violate the First Amendment by calling for requirements for equal time for candidates, etc

"“Censorship” is a term pertaining only to governmental action. No private action is censorship. No private individual or agency can silence a man or suppress a publication; only the government can do so." -Ayn Rand

Jewess, tell us then:

Will you openly admit to the fact that the corporate-controlled media has repeatedly suppressed and perverted the truth, disseminated government propaganda under the guise of "news", and on the whole worked to further the agenda of our political and financial establishment, or not?

C'mon akak...

Look at this thread.

Read what the poster is saying.

My cat has a better grasp of reality than this person does.

Stop attacking the poor thing, feel sorry for it and let go.

This is not an honest discourse.

So why bother keeping it going?

LOL, Devon!

Yeah, I know, I shouldn't "kick the puppy" --- even when it is an evil puppy! Coming back here relatively recently, only to see the same damnable troll rehashing the same disinformation BS, I guess just set me off. God, PLEASE don't tell me that "Saul4Paul" or "OneVoiceofReason" ever come back here too!

To be honest...

Last night I thought it was someone just verbally sparring.

Having read the posts today, I think this person actually believes what they are posting.

It's like making fun of some drunk walking all funny and then finding out that they're a MS patient.

I'm kinda embarrassed about it, actually.

:(

~Live life to its fullest, with an open heart, open arms and most important... an open mind~

You're a perfect example

of the effectiveness of media propaganda and state controlled disinformation! Keep posting ..so we all can see such a good example of it!! You are just like Sarah Palin..you are your own worst enemy! LMAO! I bet you go to sleep at night repeating 2+2=5!

"I think we are living in a world of lies: lies that don't even know they are lies, because they are the children and grandchildren of lies." ~ Chris Floyd

So do you attack everyone here

that spreads philosophy consistent with Ron Paul's philosophy and ideas?

Am I not socialist enough for you?

"“Censorship” is a term pertaining only to governmental action. No private action is censorship. No private individual or agency can silence a man or suppress a publication; only the government can do so." -Ayn Rand

You are not consistent with Ron Pauls Ideas

so far you are an apologist for

media propaganda
federal reserve
neoconservatives
illegal occupation
preemptive wars

I'm sure I missed a few!

Oh and you think anyone that criticizes Israel is an anti-semite! (Thats what you labeled Phillip Giraldi for writing a piece on Rupert Murdoch and critical of Israel)

"I think we are living in a world of lies: lies that don't even know they are lies, because they are the children and grandchildren of lies." ~ Chris Floyd

Always enjoy listening to...............

smart people.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win!"
GANDHI

That's totally false.

Just because I support the RIGHT of the media to do what it wants, that doesn't mean I like everything they do. Just because I explain what "free press" means to those here who haven't grasped the concept, doesn't mean I support everything the press does with their freedom.

Concerning the Federal Reserve, I'd like to see it eliminated. Just because I kinow more about it than you and try to explain how it works, instead of hthe conspiracy theorist view of how it works, doesn't mean I support the Federal Reserve.

Concerning, neoconservatism, I oppose it. That is, I don't agree that the U.S. has a moral obligation to spread democracy around the world through military force. Just because I use the term accurately, instead of using it the improper way by throwing it around to mean anyone that supports a military action doesn't mean I'm a neoconservative.

Concerning, illegal occupation, I support Ron Paul's idea of non-intervention.

Concerning preemptive attacks, I support them. Dr. Paul does as well. What we both oppose is PREVENTATIVE wars. There is a difference. Listen to Dr. Paul. He uses the term "preventative," not preemptive. A preventative attack is one where there is no imminent threat, such as the case with Iraq. A preemptive attack is one where you know someone is going to launch an attack, so you preempt that by attacking first. No one in their right mind would oppose that. Just because I know the difference between preemptive and preventative attacks, doesn't mean I disagree with Dr. Paul.

I guarantee I'm more aligned with Dr. Paul's philosophy that you are. And a hell of a lot smarter, obviously.

"“Censorship” is a term pertaining only to governmental action. No private action is censorship. No private individual or agency can silence a man or suppress a publication; only the government can do so." -Ayn Rand

Jewish/Noelle, you remind me of all those

who apologize for and even applaud all the financial corruption that is and has been occurring in this country, by men who profess to be abiding by the letter of the law and regulations even as they violate the spirit and intent of those laws and regulations in every possible manner.

You are no friend of liberty, but in fact are an apologist for its enemies. You disgust me, because you know EXACTLY what you are supporting --- we can only wonder why.

EVERYONE here with a shred of decency and honesty knows that the "mainstream" media is just a tool of the establishment, and works tirelessly in promoting its propaganda and agenda --- everyone but you, that is. We have common sense, our own innumerable observations and experiences of it, and truth on our side, and all you have is misleading rhetoric disconnected from reality and puerile sophistry.
