One simple question you can ask to Obamacare supporters.

Instead of trying to educate these hopelessly misguided individuals who support Obamacare about the proper role of the federal government, or the fact that healthcare is not a right, or whatever else you've been trying to knock into those dense skulls of theirs... just ask them one simple question...

your conversation might go something like this:

so, you support nationalized healthcare. you are confident that obama and pelosi and reid will take care of you in a manner that you can live with. but now that you have supported this takeover of healthcare by the federal government, now that you have given THEM all the power over YOU, answer this one question.

"will you be happy with CheneyCare, or PalinCare, or RudyCare, or whatever it might turn into in 3, 7, or 11 years from now?

Personally, I would ask them...

Are you fxxxxcking crazy, the man is totally unAmerican, and should be ousted immediately. I have had to say that to my sister, and brother-in-law on several occasions, but unfortunately they are brain-washed to the gills on Obama crap.

I posed a similar question

to my neighbor a few months ago. It was the only time I ever saw him at a loss for words.

That's a very interesting way

That's a very interesting way to put it. I'm sure it could cause some people to rethink their positions on the issue.

...

and "what happened to ending

and "what happened to ending the wars?"
also good "why did Obama not repeal the Patriot Act?"

they don't have the authority.

whenever someone speaks of this subject, and I do make sure I bring it up my self, I point out the fact that the constitution had to be amended to allow alchol prohibition. I avoid talking about the pros and cons of the whole idea of "healthcare" as much as possible.
my attitude is this. fine! that is a WONDERFULL idea! but don't do it without permission, if you do, you are corrupt.
hopefully they will wonder why and look it up themselves.

Knowledge is power, action is love.

Absolutely !

What is this going to open the door for a long ways down the road?
Is it a can of worms we want to open?
Great!

I asked similar questions...

...when Bush was pushing for dictatorial powers.

"When things like this are put in place, they aren't just going to be limited to the current president. So even if Bush has the best of intentions, what about the next guy...and the one after that...and so on?"

It didn't seem to phase the people I said that to. Who knows, though. Maybe it was a seed planted that took root later. Sometimes we don't always see immediate harvest.

in fact, i think this is a

in fact, i think this is a good strategy to use when approaching a wide variety of topics.

people don't want to be preached at.

people don't want to be re-educated.

when you tell someone they are wrong it only forces them to put their defenses up and dig in their heels.

simply ask them a provocative question. maybe it will spur them into looking further into the topic for a better answer. maybe they will see the light. maybe not but i think it is going to have a better success rate than shouting your ideas down somebody's throat.

try these examples:
instead of trying to educate people on a non-interventionist foreign policy just ask them "how would you fell with x# of chinese troops camped out in your back yard?"
instead of losing people with technical monetary jargon in a doomed attempt to explain the fed, play a game of monopoly with them and just start handing out random sums of money to various players...explain that it is stimulus money to get the housing market going. well guess what, they are going to see more houses going up and they are going to see people offering ever increasing sums of monopoly cash to buy other players' properties, etc. pretty soon the game will be all out of whack. tada! you've just shown them inflation and the problem with all the stimulus that has been happening.
there are lots of things you can do to cause someone to sit and think critically about an issue. eventually they will come up with an answer for themselves and realize how long they have been allowing someone else to do the thinking for them.

i am willing to bet most of you became RP fans because he or someone else said something that forced you to stop and assess your beliefs. i would be surprised if you just got worn down by another paulite yelling liberty talking points at you and just finally decided to roll over and support RP.

any thoughts?
