Direct from WFAA

Thank you for taking the time to write us concerning the upcoming Texas Gubernatorial debate.

The selection process for inviting candidates to participate in debates on WFAA and other Belo Corp. television stations is based largely on materials from the Federal Communications Commission and other authorities.

The criteria for participation includes whether a candidate: receives significant levels of public support in independent public opinion polls, e.g.15 percent, which is the minimum used by the Commission on Presidential Debates; has received substantial campaign contributions from varied sources; has previously held significant public office(s); has received a substantial level of votes in prior elections for the same or comparable office(s); will be reported by news agencies in election night returns; and, has received significant news coverage from a wide range of media outlets.

The FCC and other bodies grant stations the right to exercise good faith news judgment in determining which candidates are invited to participate in televised debates, and to use reasonable news judgment in reaching such decisions, with the intent to neither promote a candidate nor create a disadvantage for a candidate.

We are grateful that you would take the time to write and share your comments.

Rival Newspaper is reporting about the BELO farce

Perry and Hutchison are scheduled to debate again Jan. 29 in Dallas. That debate’s sponsor, Belo Corp., should add Medina.

I have signed, but I think putting pressure on the
(BELO) Board of directors, is more effective.

We only have a week, and need to work smarter, not harder.

I am not attacking your idea, just trying to focus our efforts on people who can make the decisions directly.

Take it to the top

... scratches head, bumps thread

The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!

I just sent this to political reporter at FT Star...

Dear Ms. Tinsley,

Here is a suggestion for your next story. Contact Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Ask them the question below, but warn them that you want to publish their response verbatim. Their answers will tell Texans what they think of them and the democratic process. The question is: Would you ask Belo to invite Debra Medina to participate in the January 29 debate?

Sincerely,

Plano TX

I heard there was going to be a protest against BELO

Can someone post the details, time and place?
Does anyone have some of those office locations?

WFAA responded to my email...

... to which I responded:

Do something unique. Ask Rick Perry and Kay Hutchison if they want to exclude Debra Medina. Tell them you will publish their response. Let them decide. The public deserves to know how much respect they have for the democratic process and the people of Texas.

Sincerely,

Maybe those with pull in the Texas media could persuade a journalist to approach Perry and Hutchison for their opinion about Debra's exclusion and turn it into a big story.

I can't see them ever debating Medina again.

After her brilliant performance at the last debate, I don't think they'll ever put themselves through another humiliation like that.

I like Charles Wilson's idea of a shadow debate. Charles you are a fertile ground of creative ideas!

I also like riceowlex's idea about cancelling BELO subscriptions. My. Don't we have some clever patriots posting here!!!

Ain't that the truth!

Perry looked sick and Kay looked and sounded politically polished.

Plastic anyone!

Perhaps plastic is a good description for Senator Hutchinson also. BTW Is Governor Perry related to Bush? He looks like him sounds like him and presents like him?????
Debra Medina is a clear, viable choice for governor.

Freedom is NOT free!

Is there a facebook group up yet?

You need one that reads "Boycott BELO"
Watch it start to catch on. I'll invite thousands to that group if someone from TX posts it.

Rally...

Meetup for Medina at all BELO-owned stations Thursday Jan 21... Be there!

At a minimum, if Debra is not

At a minimum, if Debra is not invited to the debate, on debate night Debra should field each question put to the other two candidates and answer as if she was there. Her answers could be included on a video (YouTube) as if she was at the debate. The video could then be sent to every MSM in the country. Let the people decide the next Governor of Texas, not BELO!

Excellent

Let's make it a plan.

Great idea

She should give her response to every answer regardless if she is omitted or not. The people want to know where she stands on the issues. A BELO debate will consists of softballs anyways. Nothing "subversive" will be asked like in the event Medina was allowed to participate. Remember the drug legalization issue when they didn't ask a question relating to students at a college. When you have a real patriot in the running they will always try to knock you down with these moral issues. Her answer was sound.

Suggestion: To all Medina

Suggestion: To all Medina supporters in Texas (YAL), why not hold a tea party fund raiser in Dallas (SMU campus?)in her honor and ask Ron Paul to be the main speaker? She is a Ron Paul supporter -- turn about is fair play!

This would be a smart thing to do

I think we should get Charlie Wilson in here to speak also.

Thank you but I would be a

Thank you but I would be a walking, talking disaster. A blind squirrel can find a nut once in awhile :o).
