WE DID IT! Medina invited to appear in The Belo Debate
http://www.wfaa.com/news/politics/Medina-invited-to-appear-i...
DALLAS — Debra Medina — the third candidate running for the GOP nomination for governor along with Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison — is being invited to appear in the statewide televised debate sponsored by Belo TV stations in Texas and The Dallas Morning News.
The debate is set for Friday, January 29.
Until now, Medina had not met the criteria to appear in the debate. However, a new Rasmussen Reports poll released Monday shows a shift among likely Texas GOP voters in her favor. The poll of 831 likely voters found:
•Perry - 43 percent
•Hutchison - 33 percent
•Medina - 12 percent
•Not sure - 11 percent
After reviewing the Rasmussen results, Mike Devlin — president and general manager WFAA-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth, the station that will host the debate — explained why Medina will now be allowed to appear.
"The Rasmussen poll released today shows Debra Medina is now at 12 percent, which is a substantial jump since the previous poll. Factoring in the margin of error (+/- 3.5 percent) and using reasonable news judgment, it appears Ms. Medina is a viable candidate and qualifies for the Belo Debate to be broadcast on January 29," Devlin said.
As previously announced, the primary criteria used to determine which candidates are invited to participate in the debate include whether a candidate:
•receives significant levels of public support in independent public opinion polls, e.g. 15 percent, which is the minimum used by the Commission on Presidential Debates
•has received substantial campaign contributions from varied sources
•has previously held significant public office(s)
•has received a substantial level of votes in prior elections for the same or comparable office(s)
•will be reported by news agencies in election night returns
•has received significant news coverage from a wide range of media outlets
"The FCC and other bodies grant stations the right to exercise good faith news judgment in determining which candidates are invited to participate in televised debates, and to use reasonable news judgment in reaching such decisions, with the intent to neither promote a candidate nor create a disadvantage for a candidate," Devlin's statment said.

I wonder if the best strategy
I wonder if the best strategy would be to get people like Medina to become Governors. Then have the Governors tell the Fed Gov. to shove off.

Sweet another debate with someone I agree with!
Too bad its Texas not Wisconsin....Either way I'm rooting for Medina!
How do you guys think that the other two losers will interact with her? Aggressively? Nicely? Try to Ignore Her? Either way people will be watching with her in mind!
Good Question About How Perry and Hutchinson will interact
With Debra Medina. My belief is that both Perry and Hutchinson experienced for themselves how articulate and knowledgable Debra medina is. The 1st debate was attempted between Perry and Hutchinson to out do each other because they didn't see Medina as big of threat as they do each other. I believe that Kay Bailey Hutchinson will be a slight bit more cohesive in the next debate towards Debra Medina in order to slam out Rick Perry because she will still see him as her greatest challenge. I believe this may be the way it will play out , but who knows these two(Perry & Hutchinson) have known each other for years and you know are more than probable subtle friends. Another way it could go would be that both Perry and Hutchinson both team up together to "Get Rid Of The Outsider" so that it can be just the 2 of them as being the only real opponents. Being from Texas, I believe it is going to be Hutchinson playing "Lets get rid of Rick Perry" politics and not being too hard against and almost being cohesive with Medinas platform as she can be without making her objective too obvious. I know Debra Medina is much too intelligent and will see right through the politics and come in for the "SWOOP" at the correct and right time. Just ...playin...politics! :)
I think Kay will be on the
I think Kay will be on the offensive this time and Perry will retaliate to maintain his lead. They still do not see Medina as a threat. This debate will be on a major station and more people will see their smugness. If they start to attack Medina that will mean she is a bonified contender and they DON'T want that in peoples minds.
It's the delegates...not the poplular vote :)
Remember, Texas was pretty close to turning the state for Ron Paul on the Delegate side (led by Debra Medina) ....don't you think we multiplied ourselves? :)
My lips are sealed
thanks.

WOW
12% that is great.
Those debates matter a whole lot. It is really the only chance the public gets to see her and realize Perry and Hutinson are not good candidates. Hutch was horrible in debate, looked like a total air head. Perry is the perfect example of a slicker who is so full of BS you can smell him through the TV. After this debate, I see it becoming a dead heat.
Bump
for good news
Made my day
I'm looking forward to watching her next floor mopping of those bickering, blathering, and boasting bobble heads. I am watching her campaign from the sidelines of another state but I think a Medina win will help set our nation on the right course. It could inspire other good people to run for high and local offices.
thanks for posting this!
thanks for posting this! awesome news.
I love this site!!!
This is AMAZING news!!! Go Debbie, go!!!
This made my day!!! :D
She'll be in the twenties after the next debate.
Mark my words.

Hope she
is in the high 30's or low 40's if Texas is straight and courageous. Come on you Texas folk - let's see what ya'll can accomplish for Medina.

how about a massive sign bomb
how about a massive sign bomb all over the state of Texas.
Definitely!
How can DP accomplish this?
Two Ways to get signs to people on the ground.
1. Money Bombs.....the campaign can get the signs to the meetup groups
2. Sign making parties....we used to have a bunch of videos on how to make your own banners using material you can get from home depot. People were hanging them from bridges...etc.
Big News
Not just that Debra is invited back, but the news that she
TRIPLED HER NUMBERS with the first debate. She went from 4% to 12% in just ONE major exposure to the viewing public, and that was on PUBLIC TV!
What if our Debra triples her numbers again with the upcoming debate? It could happen. Once people no longer see her as a guaranteed loser, and they find out what she stands for, she could easily become a leader in the polls.
Now you see why Perry didn't want her to have a chance to be heard.
Remember that when Debra ran for Vice-Chairman of the Texas GOP in '08, she got about 1/3 of the delegates to vote for her. Most of the delegates had never heard her speak before, and knew little about her. Still, a large number voted for her for Vice-Chairman. I have been thinking since that day that she could get a major share of the Party primary voters behind her. I think we're about to prove that!
I'm delighted Debra Medina was invited
to debate. I also believe any poll that has Rick Perry with a double digit lead is an absurdity.
Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow
FREEDOM!!!
This is the best news I've heard this new year.
I love youse guys!
My predictions have been correct !
I said we would have her on in a week { I was wrong !} we got her on in a weekend. I also predicted one state would split from the union {SD}. Im still waiting for jefferson to send me a check.
"Im still waiting for jefferson to send me a check."
Do I owe some money?
The end of the year is payup time.
Either way this is tremendous news.
They may control the vote, but if we can get a regular Jane into the debates, and raise some eyebrows of the angry people, sparks could fly.
Those that took action should pat yourselves on the back.

Outstanding!
Debra either has or is within "striking distance" of the "magic" 15%. At 15%, the "bandwagon effect" takes over
and she has as good a chance of winning as the other two candidates. Now, she just needs to watch out for sabotage at the next debate. Belo Corp. needs to know, very clearly, if they use the "usual tricks" (hostile moderator, short face time or unflattering camera angles), we will retaliate by boycotting their 20 stations throughout the US.
Thank you Micheal for giving us a place to be heard!
You are doing a great work for Liberty.

Tremendous! Who here is a DM guru? I've got some Federal Reserve Notes I want to send from the East Coast. Though a Governor doesn't have to take a position on foreign policy, what's hers? Don't see it on her site.
