Who is Eric Dondero?

And why is he putting out idiotic Ron Paul smear pieces in the "blogosphere"?

Anyone have information on his background and why he is so riled up?

He worked for Ron Paul and Ron fired him.
He's a disgruntled wannabe politician.

Sounds like a........

Stalker to me......I hope Ron Paul has a restraining order on this guy and I hope he doesn't have any of Ron Pauls socks. It seems he is trying to discredit our leader by claiming off the wall crap. I would seriously watch out for this kind of thing. I would say ignore him if he somehow gets on here, or whatever, If I was Ron Paul I would have told him to campaign for me in Alaska, send him there, then fire him there, so he can't come back (or atleast make it hard for him to do so!) LOL! And keep him of everything, should have let him be just a driver and thats it!

"The real terrorist's are in this country. They are not planning to blow us up,......... but rather, take our money, our freedom, and our country."

I think he was the author of

I think he was the author of those Ron Paul newsletters that caused a ruckus a while back. Thats just my opinion, but I bet I'm not alone in this theory.

Thought I would bring this

Thought I would bring this up again to congratulate Eric Dondero on how well his candidate Rudy Giuliani has done so far in the primaries.
Rudy who?

"I don't endorse anything they say"
~Ron Paul On the 911 Truth movement.

He is a jackass who promotes

He is a jackass who promotes Rudy as a libertarian while Rudy makes comments like this. (See the 2nd paragraph):

He also made a grandiose declaration he was going to challenge Dr. Paul for his house seat earlier this year:

In this waste of blogspace he writes: "But if any of them hesitates to come out in the coming weeks, I will officially declare against my former boss."

"Them" refers to those who expressed interest in running for Dr. Paul's seat. So if there was ever any doubt this is proof he still isn't over getting canned and he really doesn't care about his district. He is simply holding a grudge against his former boss.

The best way to refer to him

The best way to refer to him is as a "disgruntled, terminated, former employee" of Ron Paul. This is an extremely powerful marginalization tactic. Think about it; as soon as people hear those words, they'll give you a "oh, one of those guys...wink, nudge...say no more," and that'll be the end of it.

Turn him into a non-person.

Liberals want to be your Mommy. Conservatives want to be your Daddy. Libertarians want to treat you like an adult.

He trolls over at Reason.com

He posts on Reason.com articles frequently, shilling for Giuliani and referring to him as a libertarian. (No, seriously.)

Many of the other Reason posters treat him with contempt.

Here's an example of the sort of nonsense he spouts and the reaction from other readers:

Dondero/Rittberg: An Egomaniacal, Fascist Traitor

Eric Dondero (or Rittberg, depending on which name he is going by at the moment) is a pathetic individual who cares only about himself.

This is someone who claims to be part of the libertarian movement, but his actions speak louder than words.

His hatred of Ron Paul leads him to challenge his former employer out of revenge. OK, fair enough. But then he withdraws from the race and endorses a big-government neoconservative in Paul's congressional district.

I don't agree with Ron Paul 100% of the time, but there is absolutely no defense for anyone calling himself a libertarian actively trying to get Ron Paul out of Washington. Liberty is under-represented enough.

Eric is a warmongering traitor to his former cause. It's crystal clear that he cares far more about hurting Ron Paul out of revenge than he cares about liberty.

He is a former employee of

He is a former employee of Dr. Paul. He was fired, and now he's bitter about it.

When Lew Rockwell & Co. start going off on "Beltway Libertarians" that guy is essentially the archetype of who they are talking about.

He is regularly mocked on Reason.com's blog

I have been following this website for quite some time and always felt tempted to register, but once Eric's name came up I knew I had to register.

I know of him through H&R (reason mag's blog).

He is annoying, does not make any sense on the issues and believe that Rudy is a libertarian. He is sometimes the center of ridicule by others on H&R.

I think he is the center of

I think he is the center of ridicule a little more than sometimes...

yeah... make that "always"

yeah... make that "always"

I am expecting

Dondero to go on Fox News or MSNBC as a "Libertarian Expert" to talk about Ron Paul.

Put Eric Dondero on ignore

No one listens to him anyway...they know he was fired.

He was also talking at one

He was also talking at one time at trying to run for Ron Paul's seat in the House.

He made his announcement at RedState.com

I am this morning, declaring my candidacy for Congress in the GOP primaries against Ron Paul. If he does not resign his seat, and if another Republican candidate does not declare against him, I will run a balls-to-the-wall campaign for Congress in Texas CD 14. I am the guy that got Ron Paul elected to Congress in 1996. I can and will defeat him in 2008.

Eric Dondero, Fmr. Senior Aide
US Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX)

Have fun bucko...

two opponents already

Two people have already declared that they are running against Dr. Paul, Chris Peden, some local city councilman, and Andy Mann, a NASA contractor. I'm almost looking forward to the primary. I can't wait to see both of them get stomped, which they will no matter how the primary turns out. If Dr. Paul is out of the Presidential race by then he will have enough money to outspend them 10 to 1(or 100 to 1?). If Dr. Paul is still a Presidential contender then, he will stomp them because he will be all over the news. I think Dr. Paul will win his congressional primary by such a landslide(90%) that the other two competitors will be embarrassed.

Even though I'd rather have

Even though I'd rather have a pro-liberty candidate in office it wouldn't bother me a whole lot of Dondero won Paul's seat. Since Paul will be enjoying his larger, oval-shaped office...

Eric Dondero

Is Ron Paul's ex-senior staff guy.
Ron fired him and Eric hasn't gotten over it yet, this being 5 years ago.

He lies about most things.
He supposedly knows 15 different languages but got caught in a lie of when he learned Spanish.

He was supposed to run against Ron Paul, but dropped out of the race when another Republican decided to run for office.

He supports Giuliani and even has deluded himself into thinking Giuliani has libertarian leanings.......That is one of the bigger stretches of the imagination.

He supports Giuliani and Ron's CD14 opponent so much he has given them huge amounts of money.......ok, that's a lie, he has given them nothing for their campaigns.

He either goes by Dondero or Rittberg.... no one can figure out when he will use which name. He likes to call himself a half jew, whatever that means. Though he isn't a practicing Jew at all. He has even deluded himself so much that he says Ron Paul demanded he wear a yamulke to a political function. Can you see RP demanding someone do something like that?

Needless to say he started off as a car driver for RP and has delusions of grandeur that he single handedly got Ron Paul elected to office the second time RP ran in 1996.

He was one of the people that started the Republican Liberty Caucus, and they got rid of him.

So far he is just a gadfly that won't stop writing nasty articles about Ron Paul, using whatever time he has to write nonsense in his attempts to get him out of office.

Oh, the final thing about Eric is on his libertarian blog he still has a praise that Ron gave him years ago. This is way nutty, in that if RP is supposed to be this big nut job, wouldn't he want to distance himself from him?

He is just a sad little man with no life unless he is the center of attention.

Eric Dondero

Eric Dondero, formerly Eric Rittberg, worked on Ron Paul's 1988 campaign. I knew him from then. He was always a war hawk, and I believe since 9/11 he has been rather opposed to Dr. Paul.

Sounds like a clueless lost soul...drank too much Bush koolaid!

listen to this childish rant...

Lew Rockwell and Justin Raimondo; the Biggest of all Losers in the libertarian movement on Bush’s foreign policy

by Eric Dondero R.

While all Anti-War libertarians are incredibly big losers in the recent successes of the Bush Doctrine — Democracy breaking out with lightening speed in Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi and even Israel/Palestine post-Iraqi Elections — it is Lew Rockwell of LewRockwell.com and Justin Raimondo of Anti-War.com and their allies who are the absolute BIGGEST LOSERS.

I'd never imagine

a Libertarian that was willing to give up principles of liberty to push a man like Giuliani and call him a Libertarian too. This guy is pretty odd, unfortunately I'm in a dialog with him on his blog and probably shouldn't even reply.

He is very pro-Giuliani, to the point of still thinking Ron Paul blames American citizens for 9/11 and has a lot of fear of "Islamofascists".

He didn't like it when I explained where he was wrong.
Either way, I'm done talking to him. The guy obviously isn't going to stop.
I would love to have him come public on TV so people can see the nutjob that opposes Ron Paul and blogs negatively about him non-stop.

Disgruntled Employee

I think he used to work for Ron Paul and now he hates him. I've gotten in some arguments with him on blogs.

He really pissed me off

when he said he WASN'T fired by Ron Paul, was given a positive reference, $10,000 severance, and still qualifies for the Congressional Pension plan (which he takes full advantage of).

former RP staffer, now insane

Ignore him. If you can't do that, web search him.

Every Land of Oz needs a few flying monkeys. ;-)

Get active NOW to put Ron in the general election. ronpaul.meetup.com

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

You're right

By saying to ignore Dondero. I thik he was the first one that Dr. Paul has ever fired. Eric is a very big liar and everyone would be wise to ignore him completely. Every word that comes out of his mouth is a lie. Please don't listen, read or have anything to do with the guy. You'd be much better off. Continue to support Dr. Paul and listen to the energy he exerts with his every true word. DO RUN RON!!!

Ron Paul's Ex Chief of Staff

Paul fired him for trying to sway him on the war. He isn't a happy camper. He is also trying to usurp Paul's seat in Congress. He is also a lier.
