Senator-Elect Brown Calls Himself a ‘New Breed of Republican’

Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Scott Brown, whose victory in a Massachusetts special Senate election imperils U.S. health-care legislation, called himself a “new breed of Republican” as he prepares to travel to Washington later this week.

The senator-elect said he plans to be an independent voice, a message that could serve him well as he faces re- election in 2012 in a heavily Democratic state.

“I’m going to be a Scott Brown Republican,” he told reporters in Boston today. “Maybe there is a new breed of Republican coming to Washington.”

The Republican takeover yesterday of the seat held by the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy for almost half a century has shaken the nation’s political dynamics and started a blame game.

Brown beat once-favored Democratic state Attorney General Martha Coakley, 52 percent to 47 percent. Independent candidate Joseph Kennedy, no relation to the late senator, received about 1 percent of the vote.

They know

that they have to talk up this "new breed" thing, because the "old breed" is hated, and they want to get back in power, just using another lie.

The ironic thing is that if they really did become a "new breed" and embraced RP and the principles of liberty, then they actually wouldn't have to lie about it.

It's revealing that they know how to lie to the people to get votes, so they obviously know what the people DO want. But, they are criminals, and they REFUSE to do what the people want, so they lie about it and then stab the people in the back when they get elected.

This disspells the myth that they are "stupid", like so many people want to believe. They are not stupid, or they wouldn't know how to lie to get elected, and then turn their backs.
No, they are EVIL.

HE IS A RETREAD rEPUBLICAN

Look out for RETREAD Neocon Republicans. New and improved is Rebranding, same old thing new package. Get REAL with Ron Paul Liberty Candidates.

Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.

USE HIM TO OUR ADVANTAGE

To slow the pace of the fascist agenda. Even if it's superficial it will buy the freedom movement a little time to get to the Nov. elections. I'd be surprised in Nov. if we actually got more than a handful of anti-establishment types voted in. Brown should be alerted by our masses that his job is in no way secure if he starts pulling the old neocon tricks.

He Already Is

In his 1st news conference today, he already is dismissing the number 41 meme and "now that the campaign is over" he is chatting up the "good working relationship" he has always had with dems like Kerry and the Mass congressional delegation (Barney Frank).
He now is also saying he sees a lot of good things in the national health care plan.
I have to admit I did expect it to take a LITLLE longer but when he rolls over, and he will, there will no longer be an opposition party in Mass. Step aside neocons ...
They are reading the general public completly wrong (again).

The sad part is how many people will believe him

"Yeah, yeah - I like that Brown. He's a new breed of Republican. I mean, I heard that on the TV."

Give me a break.

They'll forget Brown even exists in 2 or 3 weeks

They'll have a "sorbee" for people soon. A kid in a well or something usually works pretty good.

theres nothing new about

theres nothing new about these neo-cons.

Me mad at D. Me vote for R. Me mad at R. Me vote for D.

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can throw the rascals out at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years if necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still pursue, with new vigor, approximately the same basic policies."

hahahahaha. I literally laugh

hahahahaha. I literally laugh out loud at most of your posts, even the gallows humor ones.

Ventura 2012

the minute my blazing neoconservative friend . . .

called Brown "a shining light" I knew that . . . he was no 'change'--

I was disappointed to be correct.

*sad*

New Breed? That is a joke, so far.

I do not believe that he said the word "Constitution" in all of the words uttered in his acceptance speech last night.

Has he ever heard of Ron Paul?
Ron Paul has been a new breed of republican FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS!!!

I will believe it when he teams up with Ron Paul.

New Breed?

Looks like the same old RINO to me.

It disturbs me deeply that so many of you could have listened to Scott Brown in the debates and not concluded he is a Mitt Romney / Dick Cheney hybrid.

Breed=Mutt

Scott Brown Wins Mass. Race, Giving GOP 41-59 Majority in the Se

The election of Republican Scott Brown to replace the deceased Ted Kennedy in the Senate from Massachusetts yesterday destroys the Democrats' 60-vote supermajority, widely presumed to be needed for passage of a health care bill, or so it would seem from headlines ("House Dems largely reject idea of passing Senate health care bill"), from Republicans who cheered "41!" at Brown's victory as if it were some kind of milestone, and from conservative Democrats like Evan Bayh, who portrays the election as a "wake-up call," indicating that Democrats should propose a weaker health care bill that will not piss off insurance lobbyists and other powerful Republican constituencies.

Hopefully Brown will be as independent/open minded as he says.

We need real change for the better.

when they *say* they are "independent/open-minded",

then you KNOW they will not be, especially before elections.

He is 'business as usual'--
