URGENT! - C4L Asks for Calls to All Senators to Hold Bernanke Renomination until Audit the Fed has Passed!

January 21, 2010

Dear C4L Member,

Our country’s economic future is in Ben Bernanke’s hands on a daily basis.

Now his job security is in ours.

I need you to immediately call your senators with a simple message: “No vote on Bernanke until we get a vote on Audit the Fed.”

Here are the phone numbers and email addresses.
http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_c...

Here’s what’s going on and why you need to act immediately. It’s a little complex, so bear with me.

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) has led the charge to place a “hold” on Bernanke’s nomination to a second term as Fed chairman until the Senate votes on Audit the Fed. This means to get a vote on Bernanke, Harry Reid has to have a vote on “cloture” (just like in the health care battle), and that requires a super-majority of 60 votes.

Insiders now tell me that Harry Reid is threatening to ram through a cloture vote as early as next week.

Senator DeMint is joined by David Vitter, Jim Bunning, and Bernie Sanders in his efforts, but these senators cannot succeed alone. But right now, Republicans should stop caving in to Harry Reid’s muscle on behalf of Ben Bernanke and the out of control Federal Reserve, and Democrats are cowering in fear of the popular revolt against out of control spending and the economic wreck it has helped create.

A strong message from Campaign for Liberty activists like you could start a stampede in the Senate that will make Harry Reid back off of Bernanke and give us a vote on Audit the Fed.

After all, Harry Reid is already the most vulnerable Democrat up for reelection next year, according to the polls.

Call your senators at the following numbers:

http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_c...
Make sure you let them know that:

1.) If they are not cosponsoring Audit the Fed, you expect them to sign on in support of finding out what the Fed has done with trillions of our dollars. Tell them you will make sure their constituents know of their action or inaction on this issue.

2.) They must vote “no” on cloture until after there is a vote on Audit the Fed. No vote should be taken on Ben Bernanke’s confirmation, or the nomination of anyone else for Fed Chairman, until Audit the Fed has received a public, up or down vote. The real issue here is not the Fed chairman himself. It is the need for complete transparency.

Ben Bernanke’s term as Fed chairman expires on January 31, so Harry Reid is under pressure from Barack Obama to act quickly.

Which means we must act even faster.

The Senate has enough on its plate with the fight over health care, so they can ill afford to face yet another tough fight over the leadership’s agenda.

Time to turn up the pressure.

Take action today to push for a vote on Audit the Fed, S. 604!

In Liberty,

John Tate
President

On Friday, Sen. Barbara Boxer, a California Democrat generally close to the Obama administration, became the fourth member of her caucus to say she will oppose Bernanke's nomination to a second four-year term in this time of economic discontent. And Boxer, who herself is up for re-election this year, suggested her dissent is as much symbolism as it is about Bernanke.

True!

I sent this notice out to

quite a few people tonight hoping to generate some calls Monday.

I called Sen. Bill Nelson's (FL) D.C. office and was put on

extended hold, so I started calling his local offices. After going through about 5 of them I gave up as they were ALL busy!

Flood his office....

TAKE NO PRISONERS.....

I am outraged at both of my Senators. Not surprised though.

Amy 'Bailout' Klobuchar 1 202 224 3244 and
Al 'Bailout' Franken 1 202 224-5641

Amy Klobuchar has not co-signed the S604 and conveniently has not left any comments concerning re-posting Bernake or Audit the Fed!!!

I left directions that she MUST have a statement concerning this ASAP because of Harry Reid pushing of cloture. I said if she does not sign on to S604 and push for a vote on this, she does NOT represent her constituents but represents 'the banker's interest'. I mentioned Continental Congress 2009.

Al Franken has not co-signed the S604. Conveniently he too has not come to any decision concerning either Bernake and/or Audit the Fed.
I said this is unacceptable reality!!! He is the one who wrote the book criticizing the establishment surely he must sign on to S604 and push for a vote on this or NO vote for Bernake period. If he does not support S604 he does not represent his constituents, rather he supports Banker's interest. I will work to unseat him if he does not get on board with S604 I said. I mentioned Continental Congress 2009.

Good show Anisha!

Seeing how quickly they turn proves the lure of the machine. Once they get sworn in they think they are royalty. That's why I think they should all telecommute from their home district.

Excellent thread Ralph!

I will call senators again to see if they are no longer 'pending' on their comment re: bankers and audit the fed and report later today.

I got the impression the staffer was interesting in gauging

the degree of anger. Naturally the more I talked the more the mad meter went up. I actually felt better after getting that little tirade off my chest. I'm sure you have a soap box or two yourself!

What did you think about that Bible overview I sent you - none of my business?

After calling Congress 5 days a week all summer long urging members to support the Audit the Fed bill, it seems to me that not calling Congress to see this through, is both illogical and just plain foolish. It took me about 2 minutes to complete the calls. Done! It feels good.

Did you raise a little hell?

I gave mine a little seminar on the FED, but got the impression they already knew it, but I wanted them to know that WE KNOW what's going on.

I also told them that taking no action was not good enough and that the people were mad as hell and were going to vote the incumbents out next election!

Oh Yeah, I got their attention!

I told them that the Audit

I told them that the Audit the Fed bill was the most important legislation of our time. The clerks were extremely nice today.

Better put an ankle bracelet on Bernanke pretty quick

on of the Feds vaults may be his cell after all the criminal activity is found. I bet the Fed is cooking books 24/7 and they are going through paper shredders like mad.
anyone looked at the Feds trash lately? Is there a big increase in shredded paper going out?

I imagine a special forces team has been hired.

People who try to cook the books often end up cooking their own goose!

The Dems don't have the votes for Bernanke!

Senate Dems Not Sure They Can Get Enough Votes to Reconfirm Bernanke
January 21, 2010 9:50 PM

Amidst the voter anger at Wall Street and Washington, D.C., ABC News has learned that the Senate Democratic leadership isn't sure there are enough votes to re-confirm Ben Bernanke for another term as chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Bernanke's term expires on Jan. 31.

The White House did not respond to many requests for comment.

"The American people are disgusted with the greed and recklessness of Wall Street," Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said in an interview with The Associated Press last month. "People are asking, 'Why didn't the Fed intervene at the appropriate time to stop the casino-type activities of large financial companies?'"

Sanders, Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., and Sen. David Vitter, R-La., have all put holds on Bernanke's nomination, requiring 60 votes to proceed to a vote.

Voter anger is of heightened concern to members of Congress given the surprise victory of Sen.-elect Scott Brown, R-Mass., who rode a tide of voter discontent and economic anxiety to an upset victory in a special election earlier this week.
