I Just Became Our GOP Precinct Chairman

My wife and I are also delegates to our county convention and members of the platform and county committees!

Becoming a GOP "leader" at the local level in an off year Iowa caucus is MUCH easier.

I had a good opportunity to talk to the few attending about competing currencies and ending the Fed monopoly.

In 2008 I was ATTENDING my first real Iowa presidential caucus, in 2012 I'll be the CHAIRMAN.

How cool is that?

This is great

I once was a precinct captain and in Ohio you have to be elected for that. I'd encourage other friends of liberty in Iowa to try out.

Is the establishment trying to tell you who to endorse in primaries? It's happening here. I refuse to let them tell me what to do or who to support.

Very cool.

Cept if you you don't want to feed the warmachine you might be sitting on the back row.
We have to fight the elephant in the room. Go for it. One bite at a time.

Great job Patriot!
In 2008 I ran for Precinct chair in Texas to support Ron Paul. I won 142 to 141. I am back on the ballot for the March 2 election.
I've spent the last 2 years spreading the message of Freedom, Supporting Dr. Paul and now Debra Medina.
Everyone who would be interested, think about running for precinct chair as a lot of the chairs are vancant and you can run unopposed.

Right on!

This is the time to strike! In 2008 the party bosses tried to ignore us and thought we would go away. When we persevere they will start to take us seriously and WE will become the NEW Republican Party.

When some fat cat party pro tries to take you aside to explain the "facts of life" you can turn to HIM and tell HIM the new rules.

that is

great news!

Freedom is NOT free!

Very Cool!

This is what we all need to work on doing!

I have a serious question.

What is a precinct chairman? I'm involved with our local GOP and have never heard of that position/title.

Precinct Chair

In Texas a precinct chair goes on to the county convention where they propose bilaw changes. Then they vote on who will go represent them at the state convention.

At the state convention they vote for various things including who will go represent them at the national convention and the electoral committee.

At the national convention they vote on who will be their candidate for president.

The electoral voters then vote for the president if the party wins.

If we were to flood the electoral votes...we could vote for whomever we wanted.

I would also like to know...

I would also like to know...

In Iowa we have caucuses...

that are organized around precincts. We meet every couple of years to propose platform issues and elect delegates to the county convention.

The chairman presides at the caucus, reports statistics to the state (including the results of the Presidential straw poll every four years) and serves on the county GOP committee.

Its mainly a functional position without a lot of real power so there isn't much competition for the job.
Anyway, I'm learning as I go.
And it looks to me that just being there is 90% of the game at the local level.

You make all of us so proud! Imagine being precinct chairman!!!! There was a great C4L seminar in El Monte last Saturday. Precinct leaders from Sonoma County came to teach prospective candidates the rules and ins and outs. It was so inspirational and helpful!
I know it takes a lot of work and perseverance to get elected! Well, that's awesome! Hope we in Orange County, California can make an inroad into the county Republican Central Committee. Our primary is June 8th and we're looking for people to advise us or even to walk precincts with us!
Congrats! You're awesome!

El Monte?

There was a meeting in El Monte CA? I live in the next city over in Baldwin Park. I wish I was aware of this :(

You are a patriot!

'Nuff said.

I have also become a County

I have also become a County Committeeman in my Local GOP. It was not as fun as one might presume, however, it was easier than I thought once I got the information I needed.

This is yet another position/title

I have not heard of. What exactly is a "county committeeman"? I've been asking for clarification of what these positions/titles are but no one seems interested in answering. I am very involved in my local GOP and have not heard of either of the positions/titles discussed in this thread.

See above...

I guess I don't know a whole lot about it other than they are the chair at the caucuses observe the rules of order.
Our caucus was pretty informal however. :)

That's great

If our people take more local leader positions, we will be in a good shape.

All politics is eventually local. Win one precinct at a time.
