Jake Towne the Champion of the ConstitutionSubmitted by legalizeliberty on Mon, 01/25/2010 - 11:11
I've kept my name private for awhile, but in October after Congress passed that first bailout, I decided to take a step forward. My name is Jake Towne, although I have a strong affection for my pen name. I lived abroad in Shanghai, China for over 3 years and recently repatriated in March 2009. In May 2009 I announced I will be running for US Congress in eastern Pennsylvania's 15th District.
I am a Bastiat-Paul-Misesian libertarian democratic republican constitutionalist. (Sorry, I had to invent my own silly category since I hate labels. The key thing is I have little in common with the mainstream Reps and Dems in Congress who continue to ruin my country.)
I am a slayer of the relic that is central banking like Andrew Jackson.
I believe in sound money like Paine, Rothbard and Jefferson.
I believe in the inevitable triumph of the human spirit as seen in the lives of Nikola Tesla, George Washington, Einstein, Gandhi, Ayn Rand and Carl Sagan.
Simply put, I am for liberty. I hate war. I love life. And I have no fear. It is far past time for America to wake up, and I am a really annoying alarm clock.
I will always have the freedom to express or at least think my thoughts, and I want you to know you have a friend you've never met who will defend your freedom to do so as well. Both criticism and support of my writings is very, very welcome. If you don't agree with me, try to educate me instead.
Why pay so much attention to the ideas of Dr. Paul? This is based solely on his ideas and official record of the past 30 years, which has been amazingly prescient. Here's a quote from just before the events of 9/11:
"We are in great danger of becoming involved in a vicious war for oil, as well as being drawn into a religious war that will not end in our lifetime. The potential for war in this region is great, and the next one could make the Persian Gulf War look small. Only a reassessment of our entire policy will keep us from being involved in a needless and dangerous war in this region." - Dr. Paul, February 7th, 2001 from the Congressional record
