Tea Party Thought: Split your donation with your spouse/significant other.
Submitted by MHH11787 on Sun, 12/09/2007 - 10:35
Two numbers that will be reported by the press will be total dollars collected AND # of individual contributers.
So rather than giving the total donation myself, I will donate 1/2 and my wife will donate the other 1/2.
I think everyone should try this if they can. Please let me know if I'm missing something here.
Thanks!

Perfectly legal.. lets not complicate it
My wife and I share a joint account. So instead of me dropping the entire donation.. why not split it between us individually. Therefore we get 2 individuals donating instead of 1. Multiply that by X number of people who can do this and it will increase the number of donors significantly.
Expenses
1 x $100 donation after expenses = ~ $97 to the Ron Paul Campaign
2 x $50 donations after expenses = ~$94 to the Ron Paul Campaign
Ireland for Freedom
Spouses only
One of the donation requirements is
"I am making this contribution with my own personal funds, and I will not be reimbursed by anyone for this contribution." You may NOT provide money for other people to donate. It is illegal. The limit is $2300 for individuals and $4600 for married couples. It is an excellent idea for spouses who are going to donate from shared funds to do it as two transactions in different names. I personally would not exceed $2300 to donate money in my wife's name without her permission, but I do not know the law on that. Fortunately she has also donated in her own name. Unfortunately, this is a moot point with me because I am not maxed out anyway.
Great Idea
I've already send $ 50.00 each to 6 family members to donate on the 16th. They are my children and their spouses.
Great Idea
I think it's a great idea. I had the thought a month or so back to maybe have a military fundraising drive. If the media would report not only the amount given by our military families but also the number of donations it would be a great thing. Imagine if you had thousands and thousands of donations of just $5 apiece. It would add up and it would also show support by our enlisted men and women serving home and abroad.
funny thought
I could pay a big group of people $1 each to donate $20 (which I would give them in cash). I'm aiming to spend $400 on 12/16. That would be 20 donors!
Ofcoarse, I would encourage each of them to check out Ron Paul.

I think that's illegal
But it sounds like a good idea to me. Just as long as Ron Paul doesn't get in trouble.
love it

I asked for a gift
To triple/quadruple my donation. Instead of gifts at Christmas, Santa is giving ~$200 to RP, my parents are giving $30 each and my brothers are each giving like $30 (all on Dec 16)
And since i've been so vocal about politics (i hate politics) I expect my stocking will be filled with RP bumper stickers. :)
I am sharing the donation with my convert roommate here at school, he's giving $50 and i'm giving $50 so he could pledge.
Excellent idea!
