RP would do well to appoint Judge Napolitano and Peter Shciff as his TV spokesmen!

While RP is an intellect with first class character, he should appoint Judge Napolitano and Peter Shciff as his spokesmen to argue with the spin masters on TV! Dr. Paul's personality is one of a gentleman and scholar who is most comfortable in a polite and civil environment.
For the hostile and rude atmosphere of today's talk shows, the good doctor will always be out of his element. He would do himself and the movement well, to appoint two bull dogs in Napolitano and Schiff, who not only love the spot light - but relish fight!

RP does not need anyone to speak for him. He is quick on his feet and he argues with the spin masters just fine.
I would like to see Napolitano and Schiff on TV more often, but on their own merits, not as spokespeople for anyone.

I understand him and you understand him. The only problem is
people who are not familiar the terms and issues think he is incoherent or crazy. For instance, he often says the FED is responsible for the business cycle, very few people understand what he is saying.
Also he often uses the term "we" when he talks about the mistakes the Dems and Republicans make, and it sounds like he is owning the mistakes. Like "we" just keep printing money out of thin air, "we" just keep starting these unnecessary wars, "we" just keep raising the debt ceiling. To a novice, this is very confusing.

RP has managed to win more people over to libertarian/constitutional ideas than any politician in recent history. Contrarians call him crazy only because they lack a coherent argument. Some people don't get it and they never will. However I think more people are getting it all the time.
"We" refers to congress collectively, and he is a member. What is he supposed to say?

Don't get me wrong I had rather have RP over any
slickster up there, I'm just telling you how my friends and family react. Don't get offended, I just want to maximize and try to take advantage of every opportunity.

Many of my friends and family react the same way. Some are truly incorrigible. Unfortunately a different messenger probably would not make much difference, unless it was a movie star or a football hero. Strange how logical ideas bounce off some people and fall silently to their death.

but how it is delivered makes a lot of difference.
Important point you made..

Even to a non-novice, which many of us here are, Paul can go off on a tangent at a whim, changing the topic. He may start of the change by saying something like..."But you know...." and for the novice or non-novice, you're still waiting for him to complete his thought on the first issue.
But he does seem to wrap things up well.
I've noticed quite a few times where CNBC reporters don't even know what to ask or they'll try and put their 2 cents in and end up not asking another question because they too are confused. You ever notice that?
That's why I think his use of asking questions is a better way to direct people to his point of view, and after some back and forth in asking questions, make a closing statement. Even "yes or no" and "choose one or the other" questions can work.
But that's me...
Your point about the novice is a good one though. But then again, most in America are rather novice when it comes to economics eh? But they sure as heck know how many women Tiger Woods has been with!

I see improvement of late in his message. The CNBC video posted here showed him controlling the conversation for about 10 of the 15 minutes, and doing so with vigor.
But I still wish he would utilize his intelligence more by practicing the socratic method in leading people to logical conclusions (his message).
It wouldn't hurt to even go see a speech coach. I spent 3k at gurumaker.com and it definitely brought me to the next level.
Clinton was booed off the stage 4 years before he got elected. He learned to become a better speaker.
On a side not, the speakers they had me learn from (style wise) at gurumaker, were Reagan, Mussolini and Hitler. Obama comes to mind as another one...
Very influential people...good and bad...
Paul just needs some fine tuning IMHO...and some neuro-linguistic techniques...

I think you are right.
There is a lot more to being a public speaker than just knowing the content. You have to have rhythm, tone, attitude and inflection. When he gets frustrated he tends to go into that higher pitch and starts talking to fast.
Most of the presidents have a speech coach and when you see the contrast it makes a lot of difference. One of the most important things is a deliberate tempo and the all important presidential pause.
What kind of business did your speech lessons help you with?

At the time...
I wanted to do seminars for investments, primarily gold. I've spent the last four years researching for a book though and hopefully that will lead me to some public speaking opportunities. I'm definitely not the speaker I was four years ago and I know I have room for improvement as well, including some acting classes (I'm moving back to the LA area now that the research has for the most part concluded).
As you say, there's a lot involved, more than the content.
Which reminds me...I tried out for a game show once. We had to take a test to see how smart we were. I got like 15 out of 20 right and the guy next to me got 20 out of 20 right.
I made it on the game show and he didn't. Why? Because we each had to stand up and tell the folks who we were.
He stood up and said just his name, and I stood up and said, "Hi, I'm Digger and I'm WACCO which stand for Western Association of Crazy Chicagoans and Others!"

I've written quite a few articles on gold trying to make a name for myself (but it's not about me, it's about "the message" as I wrote in support of Ron Paul in 2008). I have thrown in articles relating to my books topic from time to time. I'm going to get very political in the next week.
My research has been in many areas and of course I can't be an expert in all of these areas, but combining this knowledge I have been able to put many of the puzzle pieces together to help people understand that for which they do not know.
When I started my research, Google wasn't even mainstream yet and it wasn't easy to get good info, so I bought many books. Now I can get most research accomplished via Google searches which has in turn delayed my writing...as there is so much to understand as to what is really going on. Google has been a blessing.
I could probably research forever, lol...but at some point one has to come to conclusions. I have reached that point in time.
When I attended the FreedomFest a couple years ago, I met a guy who had written a few books. He gave me some good advice. He said people can write books and put out a "best seller" to address the "topic of the day." Examples of this would be Ann Coulter, Dick Morris, Newt Gingrich who just put out a book it seems like once a year.
What he said is instead of a best seller, to write a "classic." The difference being that a classic will stand the test of time.
That is what I hope to do...
It looks like you've been at dailypaul.com for a long time. You probably knew who Ron Paul was before he ran for President. You've been a large part of posting here from what I see. Perhaps you have enough material to write a classic?

From what I have "overheard" is that the large international bankers own or have in their possession, most of the gold supply. Also there are reports coming out about gold being faked and even stolen from Fort Knox.
You might do well to see how much you could condense and summarize your conclusions, the more succinct the better, one page, to one paragraph, to one line. That would help people understand what your have to offer which would help them decided if they wanted to either purchase your book or hear you speak.
My suggestion would be to make as many speeches and do as many Q&A's as possible, before you start writing. I think the key to organizing a good book is a good outline. Live engagements would help you find out what people know and need to know from which you could organize your material. Good luck with it.

The "condensing" aspect to what you say is a very good point. People can get lost in the data, charts and technical jargon. If I could present by just telling stories, I would. So a combo of both is necessary. Heck, my whole process in doing this is a good story to tell.
I have run my ideas by some centers of influence and they were very supportive. I do plan on adding much more video content to my site, which I would have already if I didn't have DVR issues (which will soon be resolved). I have a couple years worth of video data I will be utilizing.
I also will do my own videos once in awhile. And the "condensing" aspect to it applies to these as well. I've listened to every Peter Schiff video, but if they were less than 5 minutes each, it might be better. The attention span of people these days is dictated by the time stamp at the bottom right of each video as to whether they will even watch it, lol.
I do have the outline of the book finished. I have most all the data/research in my computer and in my head. Just have to put it together now.
Since I have two books on gold and silver written, I think I will test market those at local libraries and go from there.

Ron said it himself, he's not the best messenger for the message, and i would add that he is definitely not as smooth on tv as he is on the radio or in print. He's not a soundbite machine like Peter, who shines in heated debates and has public speaking skills that are off the charts, but you know compared to the other clowns in washington (think Sarah Palin) Ron is looking pretty good.

I would of agreed with you -- a few months ago
but, he has pulled a Charlie Sheen with all the Conspiracy stuff -- his show will never last.
He would of been better to have narrated a special forces show; as a precursor to running for office.
The pink boa's and wacky snap-shots and conspiracy show will never fly for 90% of conservatives nor 90% of progressives.
He might get 10% of the vote if he ran with a "serious" running mate.
Maybe Glenn Beck will give up his $50M per year gig to run for office as a Vice President.
