Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson was elected twice by the people of this state to the office he currently holds and part of his job is oversight and certification of elections.

Grayson has done an honest and competent job in his capacity as secretary of state and it is troubling that his chief opponent in the upcoming Republican primary for U.S. Senate, Rand Paul, would send Grayson a letter asking him to recuse himself from overseeing that election.

For Grayson to abide by Paul’s request would be a dereliction of his duties as secretary of state.

No matter whether Republican voters support Paul or Grayson, or some other candidate in the upcoming primary election, this could be construed as a personal attack on Grayson.

By sending this letter, Paul is essentially saying that Grayson would possibly interfere or be involved with changing the outcome of the election in the May primary.

Dear Mr. Fox:

It has come to my attention that you have taste for chicken meat. With that in mind, I'd like to ask you to step down as guardian of the chicken coop.

My apology is this assaults your pristine character.

Regardless of Grayson's past

Regardless of Grayson's past conduct, it is a CONFLICT OF INTEREST for a candidate for public office to certify the results of the election.

If Grayson refuses to step aside and allow an independent certification, I believe there is grounds for his impeachment, should he win.

Paul is right.

Answers: No

This is called "a conflict of interest.!"

Paul's request IS reasonable

Grayson should recuse himself.

This is a clear conflict of interest that any reasonable man can see.
