Liberty Candidate John N. Hostettler for US Senate in Indiana

"Some of the problems that have plagued Hostettler in the past may not be an issue this year. His Iraq war vote -- perhaps an unspoken reason some Republican hawks were so interested in finding a different challenger for Bayh -- could help his fundraising through Ron Paul-style "money bombs." Hostettler's campaign is already looking closely at Rand Paul's surprisingly successful effort in Kentucky. And while Connecticut candidate Peter Schiff hasn't fared as well in the polls, he has done well at raising money from like-minded donors.

Like the younger Paul but unlike Schiff, Hostettler has deep ties to the more mainstream parts of the conservative movement: politically active evangelicals, people concerned about illegal immigration, pro-lifers, gun-rights activists, taxpayers' groups, and especially the tea party movement. And Hostettler's biggest albatross in 2006 -- George W. Bush -- is gone. In his place is Barack Obama."

Interesting article, I

Interesting article, I recommend it.

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.

Greetings

LatinsforPaul...

I visited Mr. Hostettler's campaign website.
I assume since you are introducing him to us.... it is for recognition and support (from DailyPaulers)and that you have some contact and input into his campaign.

Would recommend strongly that he put up an issues tab and itemize and declare his positions if he expects to gain something from this forum.

Cheers,
G.

No, on the contrary...

No, on the contrary, I had never heard of him either. The only info I have on him is his from his website, the above mentioned article, and the C4L link to the article.

And I agree, we DP's have to do our homework on this candidate for US Senator. But, being a conservative against the war in Iraq and refusing to take political action committee money is not a bad place to start for a Liberty Candidate.

If there are any DPs from Indiana that know more about Mr. Hostettler please post info with links, thanks.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

Thanks legalize...

"he was one of just six Republicans in the House to vote against authorizing the war in Iraq -- and his refusal to take political action committee money frequently causes him to fare poorly at fundraising"

Takes no political action committee money and against the Iraq War, sounds great to me. I have a feeling his poor fundraising days are about to be over. :)

Ron Paul 2012 for Peace

In 2002...

John Hostettler was one of only six (6) Republican Members of the United States House of Representatives and one of only three (3) "conservative" GOP Members to vote against the House resolution authorizing President George W. Bush to preemptively engage in military conflict with the nation of Iraq. At the time in October 2002 before the vote was cast, John Hostettler said the intelligence supporting the claim of a program of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was "tenuous at best"
