U.S. surrounds Iran with missile 'defenses?'

Is this headline an oxymoron? Surrounding a country with "defensive" missiles sure sounds "OFFENSIVE" to me. Was this the plan all along? Another war is in the making.

U.S. surrounds Iran with missile defenses

The United States has speeded movement of anti-missile defenses to the Persian Gulf to put pressure on Iran, government officials say.

Four countries in the region have accepted U.S. missile defense systems, and Aegis cruisers have been deployed, The New York Times reported Saturday. The move began under President George W. Bush but has recently been accelerated by President Obama.

Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command, discussed the deployment in a rare public forum at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington on Jan. 22. He did not name the countries but said each now has two Patriot missile batteries.

"Iran is clearly seen as a very serious threat by those on the other side of the gulf front," he said.

A senior military official told the Times the countries are Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The administration has tried engaging with Iran but recently changed its tone. In his State of the Union address, Obama warned of "consequences" to Iran if the country does not give way on its nuclear program, while Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton said Friday that China should support sanctions.

Petraeus said the U.S. defenses in the Gulf include Aegis cruisers capable of intercepting medium-range missiles.

The US contingent of the NWO

i.e. the Cheney, Rumsfeld neo con bunch who want US domination when the order comes, is surrounding Iran, Russia, Venezuela, etc. THEY WANT WAR WITH SOMEONE!!!!

I smell desperation.... but it could be a long hard road until they fall.

Thomas Jefferson: “Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."

Viva La Revolucion!

This isn't entirely new.

This isn't entirely new. We've had Iran virtually surrounded with military bases for a while now. I recall reading about this maybe 1-2 years ago and on the particular site they had a map showing the US bases surrounding Iran.

Maybe they just went and setup missile defenses at each of those bases?

Regardless, it does seem quite aggressive for us to surround Iran and position weapons that would render Iran's ineffective.

For a while I've suspected that when tshtf with Iran that it will be Israel which strikes Iran with U.S. forces positioned to absorb any retaliatory blows from Iran. It would be setup in a way where Iran would have to attack U.S. forces in order to be able to get back at Israel. I'm also a little suspicious about the troop buildup in Afghanistan... just wonder if that's simply an effort to have more troops on the ground positioned closely to Iran.

I think there's potential for it to get very bad with Russia, China, India & Pakistan possible involvement if war erupts with Iran. Russia because back in 2007 they released a statement that any attack on Iran would be considered an attack on Russia. China, India & Pakistan because of the oil pipeline they were planning from Iran. I suppose China would be quite upset if we caused disruptions to one of their main future sources of energy.
