Go Medina

Great interview!

I really enjoyed the way this interview went; I think Debra handled a lot of the questions masterfully. :) Go, Debra!

The best use of PBS I've ever seen

Wish I had time to say more on this.

Forward this to everyone!

For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst and provide for it. - Patrick Henry

Seems like

she brought David around a bit.

She's great!

I'm all about Medina. I'll donate to that!

Moving to Texas

When Debra Medina wins the State House I'm moving to Texas. I live in Californa and it just keeps getting worse here.

I am very impressed with Medina

Thank you for posting this. This lady is one very impressive candidate. We need candidates of this quality in every state.

She had me until the capital punishment point.

She managed to recover somewhat, but this is my biggest problem with many alleged pro-life people I encounter. They are not 100% pro-life, only so if the life involved is a child. If you are an innocent person sitting on death row, that's just fine.

I can tell Debra isn't quite like that, but she does support state executions. If it is wrong to decide if another lives or dies (short of an immediate self-defense situation) then it is wrong. period.

Well if you have taken the life of someone else

and there is absolutely no doubt about it, then a person is still "pro-life" to take the life of the murderer. You don't give the privilege to the killer and not to the victim. But she is right, there is corruption in the system and we don't only put people to death who are without a doubt the criminal. We are so studid and corrupt that we put innocent people to death and when it is that bad, then you have to stop until you get that figured out. There is nothing incongruous with death penalty of the guilty and pro-life of babies. Pro-life includes keeping others from infringing upon life. If you leave a killer in society, he will take someone else's life. But society also cannot put someone to death who is not guilty. Cannot put someone to death who there is even the slightest chance that he is not guilty.

Nobody's Perfect

Capital punishment does not deter murder. The worse the crime, the less the perpetrator, or future perps like him, pay any attention to the penalty.

This is the same problem as we have with terrorists: if you don't understand the problem, you can't find the solution.

The fact is, some people lose their tempers, or have brain defects, or were abused as children, or have a chemical imbalance, or any number of other reasons why they kill someone and they aren't consulting the law books before acting. This is why we have a right to defend ourselves.

The death penalty is barbaric, and if our country regains our status as a free country, we will probably outlaw it eventually, but if we continue toward slavery, and economic collapse, we'll probably keep it.

Life is life, and government is government, and the latter's only job is to defend the former. She nevertheless gave the best interview I have ever seen for a political candidate. Great job.

IMissLiberty

WOW!

You can criticize without calling her and idiot or a moron! (neither of which I think is true!) Good for you!

As inept as the system is, it appears the only way to avoid executing innocent people is to stop executing anyone. But, I like her gun control stance. That would mean I could immediately accomplish the death penalty, if someone was killing others or threatening my life! (still would not like being the executioner!) That might even save lives. Unlike giving a crazed murderer a trial, only, after he has killed 20 people! How much are we going to have to spend on the trial of the guy who killed the unarmed people, at Fort Hood! I just find it hard to fathom why our military personnel was without any self defense on that base!

Evidently you did not pay attention to her complete answer.

She said there should be a moratorium on the death penalty until all avenues of forensic science can be applied to each and every case. That would assure no innocent person be executed.

Exactly what I was about to

Exactly what I was about to say... thanks

"Human beings with love and compassion are some of the most beautiful creatures in the universe... Those without are a plague on us all."

you have a point there

Ron Paul in the past was also for capital punishment and then when he investigated cases of many innocent people send to die he changed his mind and is against the death penalty so in this respect Ron and Debra differ in their approach.

Brilliant! Let's take Texas.

Brilliant! Let's take Texas.

This was great. If she

This was great. If she doesn't win she'd be a great presidential candidate. PBS keeps trying to say RP doesn't support her though, especially in the follow up. That is legitimate propagandizing right there.
