Reid, one of Obama's closest allies, issued a statement headlined "Reid to Obama: 'Lay off Las Vegas'" and was unusually blunt in his reaction.
"The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending their money," Reid said. "I would much rather tourists and business travelers spend their money in Las Vegas than spend it overseas."
Sen. John Ensign, a Republican, complained that Obama "failed to grasp the weight that his words carry."
"Once again he has threatened the struggling economy of Las Vegas," Ensign said, recalling what he characterized as Obama's "irresponsible" comment in February 2009.

I believe that the American people (until the better majority ADMITS there is only one party with two heads on it) will only continue to swing back and forth. So the Next promised Savior of the American People will need to be a Republican. I see it that way also. The script HAS already been written. If Brown has any skeletons 'they' already know and have assessed them as minimal or are in process of 'being taken care of'.
I read a book recently The Brethren by John Grisham that had a similar script. A virtual unknown politician being picked and groomed by the PTB. Any skeletons were taken care of and even a handy terror threat was manipulated at just the right moment to boost his appeal. Seems all too familiar. The masses will be dazzled by the Ken and Barbie duo.

I agree Romney will be a hard sell now, given his liberalism. But he's got money.
Palin can at least pretend she's a small-government "conservative," and she may fool a minority of the so-called "tea partiers" which will help cloud the issue. So you may be right. Romney could fulfill the role of foil in the primaries, making "conservatives" think they're slaying the dragon by voting for Palin.
Perry, who some seem to think will be favored, has no shot imo.
