Rand is the man

I've donated to Rand on at least three separate occasions. Although I would like to hear him follow more strictly Ron Paul's line, I think he may be purposely differing himself to draw in the neocon republican crowd. If he comes across too radical, they won't back him. Either way, he's a huge step in the right direction.

For supporting the pointless provocation of those who will kill innocents.

I need your help!

I recently attended a rally in Louisville Kentucky and took two pictures with Ron and Rand however I can't find them on flicker. Can some please help me out. Usually they post the direct link.

thanks

Rand Paul please

Rands foreign policy sucks, very little different then George Bush Dick Cheney's policy, dont close Guantanamo? He is clearly ignorant about what they do there, or he is playing politics, either way he is nothing compared to his Father, is he a lesser evil then his competitor sure, monetarily he is pretty good, I dont hear him against the Federal Reserve like Ron Paul. He is the same as Bunning, nothing will change. he is a typical republican not the statesman of Ron Paul

Sad

Rand has indeed fallen far from the tree. He has absolutely no idea of what the rule of law is. And he completely refuses to comprehend his own father's points on why they are so highly motivated to attack us.

Boston Tea Party

It was great to hear Rand talk about the Boston Tea Party at Faneuil Hall. In many ways I think that we gave Rand a kick start towards running for office. I remember that his wife did not want him to run for even a congressional seat, but here he is now ready to take on the US Senate.
It is great to see them both speaking together. This was a vision I had for the BTP '07.
I knew back when I secured the Faneuil Hall for the event that Ron was scheduled to be in Iowa that weekend, so we invited Rand. At one point the campaign suggested that Ron would be coming to Boston too.I thought that this would be a mistake, as much as it would have been great, I saw a better opportunity.
We could have had a big screen live feed in both Boston and Iowa with father and son speaking to each other from each event. After trying to deal with the campaign staff I quickly realized that they lacked the imagination and the will to pull off something so simple and were not only reluctant to work with the grassroots that in fact many times they worked against us.
To bad we could not get the blimp to Boston. It was in the works but unfortunately would not have been able to contend with the nasty weather that the masters whipped up for us that weekend.
When Ron runs for President for 2012, we will run a grassroots campign with the Daily Paul as the hub and instead of sending millions to a bunch of campaign hacks, we will organize a grassroots network organization PAC that will get the job done better, quicker and more effectively, without Benton, Moore, Hopper or Tate getting in the way.

I like Jesse Benton and John

I like Jesse Benton and John Tate - they are smart.

It will be a better campaign this time all around - everyone has experience.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Kelly Paul when I was in N.H. and she was not against her husband running for office, she just wanted their boys to be a little older because she knew he'd be gone a lot. But now she seems fine on it - see the YAL youtube interview. She's a great lady.

Doctors were brilliant but...

...what was The Senior talking about exactly on re: Bin Laden and Assasinations? I didnt understand that part of the interview. I missed something. Thanks for anyone who can interpret that part for me.

Hello

I laughed at that part because I think Ron actually misspoke. I believe that when he said "osama bin ladin", he meant to say "barack obama." He has made the error before in interviews where he slips up and pronounces "obama" as "osama".

I will direct you to this thread:
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/123840

This is not something I have heard about other than from the doctor, but apparently the president wants to assassinate American citizens now. He talks about this in the video clip posted in the above thread, and he sounds pretty serious.

arent they both terrorist? obama/osama???

How much damage has the illegal usurper done thus far? How many people will be dead or disenfranchised by this REAL DOMESTIC TERRORIST? I think he (Ron Paul) is just so accustomed to speaking the truth, that when his mind goes to terrorists he subconsciously thinks obama/osama...as really just the same type of person.

You might be right

But saying things like that could get you on the "domestic terrorist" list. We all know that the CIA has nothing better to do these days than to sit around reading people's internet comments, so i'd watch my back if you plan on pointing out the obvious in such a manner.

Thank you.

Watch this interview a few times, you get a view of where the movement is headed.

With that, know that most people I know have been working toward constitutional government for 40 years. 1976 was a great year to point out how bad things had become. It took 40 years, but look at whats happening ! What I see now is absolutely awesome, we didn't think it would happen in our time.

So, don't loose your patience, GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT, AND PLAN.

Lastly, to the young crowd that is driving this to its natural conclusion, from a bunch of old farts, thank you very, very much.

Nice essay, essay.

Thank you for that historical pop culture perspective.

These ideas are are working their way out into popular culture.

I have not seen the first three movies. (Can you believe I've never seen Mr. Smith Goes to Washington?) They're on my list now.

Thanks.

Wow! you've missed a great one

It was part of our home school curriculum. :-)

The movie list

I'm sure that I have missed a few....

Mr. Smith is not the Matrix by any means of the imagination, but is worth it to see how people felt in 1939.

Great interview!

Rand is so sharp, and I really liked Ron's response on closing Gitmo; very passionate.

Rand is a Champ

Very Well done.

For those of you that have not noticed...

Republicans are starting to break. They are not ready to go to Ron Paul, but are starting to be willing to meet him half way... Rand Paul is half way. If he is NOT half way he will lose. Once he wins he can prove to these people that half way works... next stop... one more half and then we are to Ron Pauls way... This will take a few years.

incrementalism in reverse ?

I understand it. The thought is that it is easier to eventually convince fiscal freedom lovers, to accept social freedoms, and civil rights than it is to get civil rights lovers to accept fiscal freedom. The key is understanding the constitution.

It is difficult to get scared, often bigoted people to accept the civil rights in the constitution.

I hope it works.

Sure

You have a good point about the Rand appearing as the "half-way" for most Republicans. However, don't you think it would be better to have someone who, like Ron Paul, understands the issues, sticks to the essential principles, and is willing to compromise and take things slowly, than someone like Rand who doesn't have any of those attributes and is sitting on the fence about important issues?

To me it seems dangerous to go for a leader who is middle-ground rather than go for a leader who is willing to compromise. The danger is in the fact that since the middle-ground leader doesn't have a core set of principles, he could be persuaded to go to either extreme.

I think Rand is well intentioned, and that he honestly wants to make a difference. However, he doesn't look ready to me to be there for us and stand up for what is essential - the constitution and the rule of law, and the need to stay out of other countries' business. He doesn't seem ready because from his answers he doesn't seem to have a clear grasp of the underlying issues when he talked about prosecution of "terrorists" and foreign involvement. In both of those cases Ron gave clear answers, whereas Rand sort of went around in circles around the wrong thing.

He may be making an effort to appeal to his voters, which I'm sure he knows better than I do, while in secret he shares his father's understanding of things. However, in that case it seems he's going about it the wrong way, because if he does get elected based on these vague promises, then he will have to answer for it sooner or later. Flip-flopping on important issues is part of the reason why we love Ron so much - he never does it.

We need more leaders who have the principles and the end goal clearly in sight, but willing to take it slowly in the process so that things can get done. Overnight change is usually a bad thing either way, because people aren't prepared for it.

I just thought of a great example

In my comment below I asked you to consider barack's response to a question and then to consider Rand's response to a question.

I don't know if you saw the video, but a few days ago, somebody posted a video from one of barack's new "i'm a regular joe not a fascist, am i rite guys" series of town hall meetings. (it's not going to work, barack, we figured you out a long time ago.)

In the video, barack was asked how can he talk about human rights when it comes to Haiti, but ignore human rights when it comes to Palestine. In his response, barack fumbles through our favorite Israel talking points for about four minutes. After going into the obligatory "israel is one of our closest allies..." yada yada yada, I'm not going to change our policies.

In this interview, Rand addresses the common sense point that we donate more money to Israel's allies than to Israel itself. Even the most hardened bible-thumping Israel-lover can understand that our foreign aid policies are flawed when Rand lays it out.

Rand knows that saying "I want to cut off aid to Israel" = Rand loses the election. He is tiptoeing around sensitive issues like this and other issues that concern "the terrorists" because he knows that he has to.

But my point is, the perceived differences between Ron and Rand allows Rand to point out some great common sense solutions to things that people like barack are blind to without being written off as another "ron paul kook".

The more I think about it, the more I think that Rand is brilliant, and doing a much better job at running for senator than I ever would. I hope that you will consider what I am saying because I think that you are underestimating the potential that we have here.

The Obama video is

The Obama video is here:

Completely different technique on answering a very similar question about foreign aid. I think Rand tells a lot more of himself here. He actually has me convinced that he believes he's right on the GITMO stance. I think he is offering up the "politically correct" responses to much of the foreign intervention issues too. I think it was interesting that the channel did their research on the issues that were temperamental to the long time Dr. Paul supporters in vetting Rand. They really got him to show some of his hand here and for the most part he sounded like he was pretty much an open book to the answers unless he sorta diverted attention to some of the consequences of our policy in order to answer the question for him. These certainly aren't simple questions and they deserve complex answers for the people to digest properly. I notice that Ron has become the no nonsense spokesman for these issues, answering them with direct Yes or No responses, then fleshing out his reasons. Many of todays news personalities however do not have the patience or integrity to ask why. This is where people like Rand can be effective. Once elected he will come off his fence. It is our job to give him the education and tools to make the right decision.

Indeed

The more I think about it, the more I think that Rand is brilliant, and doing a much better job at running for senator than I ever would.

I agree. First of all, I could never run for Senate. I don't have the skills, the drive, the patience or the energy to do what Rand is doing.

We are all in this fight together. We all have different skills. We all use them toward the same goal, and that is getting our country back.

WAHOR! We All Have Our Roles.

How can Rand better help our movement - as an eye doctor in Bowling Green, or in the United States Senate?

For him to get to the Senate, he has to win the political game first. The name of this game is politics, which is something many of us don't understand because like me, many of us here are newbies to the political game.

Ron Paul told me another story on the phone the other day about his race in 1996 to get back into the House. He had to go up against the GOP establishment. They had their hand picked candidate, much like in this race. They fought against Ron, hard. He didn't say this on the phone, but I recall reading that at least one of the Bushes (I can't remember which one - and possibly both) was deployed to campaign against them.

Ron ran a good, smart race and he won! And after he had established his ability, it was GOP that were then coming to him for advice and support. The dynamic changes completely.
