Bill requiring drug tests of lawmakers advances in Missouri House
Submitted by meekandmild on Thu, 02/04/2010 - 23:25JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri House members have given first-round approval to legislation that requires drug testing of elected officials and those seeking cash welfare benefits.
Lawmakers, judges and other state officeholders would be required to take a drug test before they take office and every two years after that. Refusing to take the test would be an admission that the official had used a controlled substance without permission.

that's a real waste of legislature's time
let's not look into any real issues like taxes and cutting spending...lets focus on more drug legislation...that'll keep the folks busy thinking, that'll keep 'em distracted!!

drug tests are unconstitutional!!!
if they do not follow the intent of their constituency, vote them out...freakin' drug legislation is a stone waste of time, money, and resources and the "game" of neocons

here is a novel idea...
kind of along the same lines...
let's make a law that requires all policeman to be able to finish a mile and a half run!
not a set time limit, mind you...just finish it!
if you can finish a mile and a half run (without stopping or walking) and you have an IQ above 85...
you can qualify to be a cop!!!
...man, there is a lot of resistance to that proposal out there...hmmmmm?

Someone must have heard me.
Someone must have heard me. For years I have been saying that ALL of our public servants need to be required to take unscheduled drug tests. After all, there are more criminals in their area than in any other. There is just so much to steal!
This needs to be done at the federal level, also. And the tests need to be conducted by state facilities selected at random.

If you don't like how an elected official is behaving, either recall the person or vote them out.
Don't overlook the part about testing those who receive cash benefits. From there, can you imagine how it can expand to those who want to do things like drive a car, or enter a national park, or be a passenger on a commercial flight?
