You guys are getting on my nerves!
A couple years ago I really enjoyed coming to this site. Now people just bicker, promote strange or irrelevant ideas, and drive each other nuts. Maybe it is the MSM's fault. At least during the campaign we had a common enemy in them. They would ignore Dr. Paul and we could all unite in our anger over the situation. However recently the MSM has finally begun to cover RP in earnest. He gives multiple interviews a day and the press coverage no longer starts with the words kooky, fringe, and gadfly. His son is running a stellar pro-liberty campaign in KY (with endorsements from monetary gurus -like steve forbes- and populist social conservatives -like sarah palin-) and ideas about monetary policy and the dangers of the FED are actually floating around out there in powerful circles where they might receive much overdue attention. Even traditional Republican blogs and forums now openly discuss RP's ideas and no longer malign the good doctor.
So was this just a place where random people could get together and unite against a common enemy and that no longer serves a productive purpose, or is this a place where people can get together DESPITE differences and continue to work towards a common goal?
You decide...

Since you brought it up,
getting scolded by posts like this really gets on my nerves! (I like freedom.)
Your title did make me smile, though. Then you had to get all "serious".
I think debate is super productive. If, as Ron Paul says, restoring liberty is essentially a philosophic task, then it is clear that philosophers are crucial. We at the DP are largely philosophers, IMHO. And I like philosophers - a lot.
Have a good weekend!
What are you talking about??
That's exactly what we're still doing! The only difference now is instead of one candidate, we have dozens of candidates all over the country that we're uniting to support in our own various ways. These new candidates do not have the same 30 years of solid record that Ron Paul has so there's bound to be some debate and arguing as we vette and find the best ones to support.
Jump in and double YOUR efforts if you've not done so already. Complaining about it does no good. Be the change you want to see.
Welcome to a libertarian website
When it matters we generally get it together but otherwise we're a melting pot of ideas and concerns, which is always better in my book than a lock-step ideology.
Actually....
Actually this a "fusionist" website. A coalition of old right jeffersonian conservatives + libertarians (with a sprinkling of anti-war progressives).

Good post, good point.

I think you highly underestimate
the motive behind the GOP to generate grass roots support for their next candidate. You speak as if the MSM is bound by law to open their mind to grass roots ideas, but the reality is Rupert Murdoch sees a vested interest in using the Tea Party to run another Reagan through the white house. We here at the Daily Paul acknowledge these tactics to ideologically challenge the status quo and insure transparency amongst building organizations like the Tea Party or the C4L. Take a look at this local T.V. station near my house and tell me the MSM is going to advocate abolishing the Fed during the next run at president in 2012.

The role of a farmer, in Fukuoka's mind, is an observer, not an intervener, of the natural order in his/her particular landscape. How is that any different than Hayek in regards to Economics?
We all know those things and
We all know those things and more. :-) Many of us continued on with the Ron Paul R3volution despite the fact that the '08 campaign ended. Many of us are still spreading the message of liberty every day. You should join us and start spending more time here again. It would be nice to have you return.
...
What one person may call a "fringe topic"
is another person's "line in the sand".
What "gets on my nerves" is when some wet-behind-the-ears neocon compromiser comes on here telling other people that their topics are the only ones that are important, and that all the other people are "fringe nuts".
Way off...
He's actually an alien from another planet sent here to prepare the earth for harvesting human brains for food.
That's what I am too. We have a secret base on the moon.
The whole "let's set aside our differences and put all our effort behind Ron Paul and liberty candidates" is just a stealth way to confuse supporters and cause harm to Ron Paul movement...
:D

I see
an opportunity for us to get together for Liberty through grass roots efforts (which we're good at) via the Tea Party movement.
I addressed this in the post here: http://dailypaul.com/node/123932#comment-1331777
Michael agreed that this is something we can do. Whether or not Daily Paul and C4L gets involved will take some leadership.
We can let the Michelle Malkin's of the world take over our original idea or we can enlighten the Tea Party movement of what our Founding Fathers's really believed, not some hijacked version of it the neoconservatives like to push down our throat through Limbaugh and Hannity.
We still have the common enemy and we can't let them seize control in the name of fiscal conservatism (as we all know what they'll eventually do with that). Ron Paul was willing to make the cuts necessary...entire departments of government. This message has to be spread to any new candidates along with the message of peace and non-intervention.
I still believe we can make an impact and the timing couldn't be better.

Ron Paul built this engine
and we are on the move. Many in power are seeking ways to occupy the drivers seat but this train is SELF driven. We know what we want and we are picking up steam. Whoo, whoo ! Chug, chug! LOL

My point (not stated but rather implied) was that we shouldn't get so lost in internal debates on fringe topics that we forget why this site is here and what we have accomplished with it (and what we still can accomplish with it).
I enjoy an occasional spirited academic debate just for the sake of debate. I enjoy seeing people back up positions with fact and feeling. I even like agreeing to disagree once in a while.
However, many of these issues where people are seeking "the truth" would be much better investigated AFTER we have people elected to positions of power who are able and willing to look into them.
Plus, I thought it would be fun to yell at the MSM one more time.
good points patriot
but daily paul is daily paul and will still be daily paul...gee I would love to see George Carlin here!
Yes - activism -
but some days people just want to relax and have some fun...if we are activists every day we will surely go insane!
