These guys live a hard life, but listen to how they talk and what's important to them...all they want is freedom. Many of them are veterans, and they talk about how they were brainwashed when they joined the military. Now they just want to get away from it all.
The movie also features a drug raid that results in one man's house being burned and his dogs killed...just for growing some marijuana. (?!)
Pretty bad language, though- religious people watch out.

Any sources to download this

I thought the film was excellent
and the old saying "Don't judge a book by it's Cover" applies here.

Agree, it was an awesome film!!
A few thoughts, though...
I was surprised by some of the vets saying they would fight in a war again, no questions asked.
Stan, the older pig farmer just seems like a great human being.

It could be that they
have not looked into 9-11 deeply and while they may want their freedom from big government they love their country and would fight to protect it from outside sources. I may have this all wrong.
What I am very curious about are the anarchists in the film and would appreciate any in put our own anarchists here on the Daily Paul have to say on this because those young anarchists don't put anarchists in a very good light.

Thank You... I am watching this right now
Very interesting stuff

Here's a comment from a Mesa resident they didn't interview:
I read the comments at the movie's website and found the following:

Wow this reminds me of the news when they find the dumbest person in the area to do an interview with. I live in Carson Estates aka Taos County aka Two peaks, now The Mesa, whatever, and I wish they added me in and the other 384 people on the mesa and showed the world the real off grid community. You know the ones that harvest there water from the rain and grow our own crops on the mesa using dry farming techniques, and raising livestock, and selling our produce to one another or trade at the farmers market. O and don’t let the world know we harvest electricity from the sun and have no monthly bills. Wait they can’t show that because then people will want to become like us and corporations will lose business so instead lets scare America and call this off grid living and make home schooling look bad by showing an unfit father with issues, and show they have guns, and they do drugs, Really! This film is garbage, the only real man in this propaganda movie is Stan and they even made him look rundown. The rest are what we call beggars and we help them out by giving them food, show them how to build shelter, and helping them start gardens, but they don’t show that. I bought an acre for $1000 with $3000 to my name, build a small home then water tower, wood stove for heat, started a crop, raised chickens and harvest eggs, made profit, moved up to solar, now life is good all in 5 years. That’s off grid living, not this, this is off grid begging. Last but not least “No Where Kids” are you serious you mean the same kids that ask to pet and feed my chickens are dangerous and have guns! Please!! End of Rant!!!
Yeah I figured as much, the
Yeah I figured as much, the film makers wanted to focus on the beggars instead of the real self sufficient folks.
Imagine what a community of folks who want to improve the place could do.
The intro was the worst, drunk guys shooting and acting stupid.
Still the movie made me long to be in a place where I can be free.

Documentary
Do they get much rain out there man?

Very good documentary. It's interesting how these people live. They generally seem to be happy there, which is a good thing.
If things got really bad, as in TEOTWAWKI type TSHTF, I suppose this might be similar to how many people end up living. In a way, this reminded me a little bit of the show Jericho. Well, maybe the Mesa would be Jericho with way fewer resources.

I'm reminded of an excerpt I read from guitarist Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine:
"America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve.
very good post. I enjoyed
very good post. I enjoyed watching this.. when the economy collapses this will be how ost of us live.

Thanks
When that time comes, and I'm living in a shack, I'll keep the place a little cleaner, though! I don't understand why the people all seem to be slobs...it's just depressing.
However, I respect what they are saying and how they are making do.
yea! thats my reaction also.
yea! thats my reaction also. but when you have liberty and freedom you can do what ya want as long as you are not bothering others. I know where this place is. If I win the powerball tonight I will buy them all a nice 34' 5th wheel.
