Beginning Of The End: Sarah Palin Hijacks The Tea Party Movement

The tea party movement is dead. The one I was familiar with anyway. Judson Phillips held it down and Sarah Palin drove a stake right through its heart live last night on C-Span in front of an unsuspecting audience.

Sarah Palin didn’t give a tea party speech last night. She gave a partisan Republican address. It was a purely political speech designed to position her for a presidential run in 2012 or 2016. Period. She wasn’t there to celebrate the organic nature of a movement she had nothing to do with creating. She was there to co-opt the name and claim the brand as hers. And she did...

I disagree.

Palin didn't "claim" anything, isn't the "leader" of anything, and didn't "drive a stake" thru anything.

It was a clear side-step of the Tea Party concept, and was a purely "for profit" venture that catered to affluent neocons, and had essentially nothing to do with the "Tea Party.

Nobody is amused, and nobody actually thinks these people like Palin and Philips are anything but neocons.
It was probably the worst attempt at a "hijacking" that I've ever heard of.
It was clearly a GOP event, with a fake name.

I don't think anybody was fooled.

Remember, the polling of the "tea party" voting base was not D or R, and the D and R parties came out short.
There is more to this than this article reveals.
The GOP is trying to make themselves over in the "tea party" clothing.
That doesn't mean that anybody's buying into the charade.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, "I think the reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated."

So, instead of getting PO'd and fighting this BS...

we just slink away quietly???

I thought we were freedom fighters?

"She was there to co-opt the name and claim the brand as hers."

...AND WE JUST GIVE IT TO HER???

I think this movement needs to grow a pair.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!

She is a NEO-CON thru and thru.

And the audience even gave standing ovations about her flawed foreign policy aganda.

This is not a liberty movement anymore.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

Rebranding is urgently needed here.

The "Tea-Party" idea was a good concept, but we have to recognize now that it has been totally infiltrated by Neocons, racists, ignoramouses, GOP-hacks (like Dick Armey), WarHawks, and the clueless (Sarah Palin) -- and therefore can no longer possibly serve us or our goals anymore. The movement has also been mocked as "tea baggers" (which is rife with sexual metaphors), and gets away from the original purpose.

Our only choice here is to completely separate ourselves from this "movement", and rebrand ourselves. It could be called the "Liberty" movement, or something else. It would also be essential to brand the core principles themselves such as: No Military Empire, No Bank Monopoly Enslavement, Human Rights, Free Markets, Constitutional Government.

By doing that, this then prevents all the imposters and the infiltrators from swooping in, and co-opting the movement and its message. But they cannot do that if the goals of the movement themselves are documented and branded.

Whatever we do, there will be an effort made to sabatoge it (CIA, FBI, GOP, etc.), so it is important to remove any ambiguities by branding the Ron Paul Liberty principles themselves -- and in the type of language that is very different from the meaningless "big government" language used by the GOP. You see, we don't need to even worry about about "big government" anyway, if we get rid of the Military Empire and get rid of the Central Bank Monopoly that is the engine for it. So this is the important language to use here, along with Human Rights, that separates us here from the GOP-hacks, and makes us totally unique.

Rebranding will be perpetual

Instead, take the idea to its limit: simply call it the "Individual" movement, and that's that.

Sarah's 3 part plan for

Sarah's 3 part plan for taking back America: Less spending, energy programs, and divine intervention.

I understand and respect that people's religion can and is fully allowed to take part in their political beliefs, but the fact that religion seems to be worn on the sleeves of so many really can be unnerving. Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Paine didn't even believe in divine intervention 230 years ago and would likely be atheists if they were alive today.

Are we still talking politics here?

We really should not be talking elections and politics. That is all owned. The debate should be on what is the best way to get our government away from the mob. Voting in the current atmosphere is not going to do it. Media runs the show they are told to run.

.

so all tea party/independent people cut the cable out of your bills in May 2010 ! !

?

(those who have not already done so of course)

I will not

give her a good reception when she arrives in Boston.

You are implicitly making the

You are implicitly making the assumption that Tea Partiers are nothing but a bunch of dunces open to hijacking by the first available floozy with a cute face and a megaphone. I find that hard to believe. If Palin wants to become president, at least on the back of tea Partiers' work and votes, she is going to have to let her own agenda be hijacked by them; not the other way around.

On quite a few issues, Palin and most Tea Partiers see eye to eye. Which is why she is welcomed to their events in the first place. On other issues, they/she currently don't/doesn't. Palin is the one who have something to lose by not working to rectify that situation. The Tea Partiers can always find someone else to rally behind, if she turns out to be a dead end. Good luck to her, finding another voting bloc as ascendant as the Tea Parties....

It is what it is

Boobus AmericANUS.

Back to the drawing board.....

Palin and the Neo-Cons have officially hijacked the Tea Party Movement and claimed it their own with the help of the corporate owned, propaganda spewing media. Back to the drawing board.

I think

that it will come down to her supporting Rick Perry over Debra Medina that will be her demise.

As far as the establishment is concerned

The Republican party has served its purpose. Now it is to be "imploded" from within, and Sarah Palin is the perfect device to accomplish this. Bill Kristol knew what he was doing when he put her on the ticket with McCain.

to me one of the big issues with tea parties is

we are not neocons. We want out of most of the countries we are in. Palin talked a bit about the military BUT she did not use the word "withdrawal". That issue is I think where the line in the sand will be drawn between tea parties and the Repub party.
If tea parties are done correctly we will pick up Dems and Libs who are against the war machine.
It seems like lots of people are trying to take over the T.P. movement.
There is talk in my area of us standing at future tea parties - inside and outside - with signs stating reduce troops and our military around the world.
If the dollar starts getting devaluated or other countries stop lending us money - something is going to have to be reduced. Its either social programs OR the military. As that deficit continues to increase the day of reckoning is getting closer.
Some tea party members are formerly Repubs. I do not think that they will go back to the Repubs unless there are huge changes within the party.
Myself I will support third parties, tea parties, libertarians. I refuse to vote for the lessor of two evils (as that is still voting for someone evil in my mind). If everyone voted for the best candidates in their mind *instead of what MSM pushes* a lot of the Republocrats would not be in office today. Remember is was only around 5 percent that got fed up with England in 1773. The rest of the country joined in afterwards. That tea tax was what? One percent??
