This is being posted for discussion. No doubt, it is somewhat painful to watch this woman speak! I just think we need a post that doesn't frame this moment as a "hijacking." Now isn't the time to throw up your hands, pack up your toys and run away--just when things are about to get interesting.

Sarah Palin's endorsement of Rand Paul is a huge boost for the Liberty movement because in one fell swoop, millions of Sarah Palin fans are exposed to our Message.
Furthermore, our Message is given instant credibility among them by her implicit support. Regardless of what you think of Palin or her fans, this exposure is like randomly spreading a few million new seeds of Liberty across the country. Some of them are going to catch and start to grow - just as they grew in you and I. We saw how contagious that growth can be during Ron Paul's 2008 presidential campaign, and for a simple reason: Freedom is popular. It seems that most people just don't understand it quite yet. It is not something they teach in the government controlled schools.
Some people seem to think that Rand somehow "sold out" by aligning with Palin. But if so, what did he sell? Politics is an interesting game, and to show you just how interesting, lets look at this from Sarah's point of view:
At the moment, there is no question that Palin is a media darling. But we all know how fickle the media is and her current massive popularity has some faddish qualities to it. Does her star have staying power, or is she just a shooting star? She has a best selling book, but it won't stay at the top of the list forever, and she no longer holds public office. She could easily be here today, gone tomorrow. She knows this, and knows she needs to stay relevant.
Enter the Kentucky Senate Race. Even without Palin, this is one of the most exciting races in the country. And, knock on wood, at this point, it looks like Rand is going to win. With the work ethic he's inherited from his father, Rand is already making Trey Grayson look like Kentucky's version of Martha Coakley.
In my opinion, Palin's endorsement of Rand means that she already thinks he's going to win and she doesn't want to be left behind. She's probably kicking herself for not having endorsed Scott Brown. Palin wouldn't take the political risk of endorsing a loser, and a Rand victory gives her the ability to appear to the Establishment GOP, and the media, that she's got vision, that she has her finger on the pulse of the grassroots, that she's a "risk taker" for endorsing an outsider, that she can "pick winners," even that she's a 'kingmaker' (if she can get away with it)...

it comes off as she's going down the line to endorse candidates that are likely to win. She wants to appear as if her endorsements had something to do with their victory, which won't be hard to pull off since that's the reason the MSM will give.
I know this is a good thing for the Rand campaign.
But I just cant help to think why its is so important why we need a Govenor Medina because she hasnt been compromised.

1. She is likable.
2. She has a large following.
3. She may or may not understand what the people plan
that are (using) fame have in mind for her.
4. I have not yet become convinced that she is (or
wants to be) a knowing (or unknowing) pawn of the

She has the same dis-jointed speech pattern as Ron Paul, and, of course, quotes him verbatim several times. Smooth-talkers make me gag.
I don't think her understanding is very deep, yet, but someday she might get there.
Of course, I assume she'll never be president, so that makes me more tolerant. She's another voice for limited federal government and that's got to be good.
Except for Ron Paul, name another former presidential candidate who is out there fighting for following the Constitution (or the GOP platform).

The very BEST that could be said about her is that she is decent-looking, and that might help distract from the tattered policies of an utterly failed and repudiated Neocon Republican Party that is DESPERATE to pull out any trick to get themselves back into power, and continue their world domination scheme for the glory of Israel.

I think that the attention is a very good thing.
That said, I share some of the same feelings - I don't like Palin. I am much more comfortable in the role of an ideological rebel, but I don't think that is often a winning role in politics.

One of our big "victories" here was getting rid of a Pharma-owned state chairman. Unfortunately, we were newbies and got snookered, and we helped put IN the chair, a Jesuit-trained attorney.
Now, the new guy played really nice with me for a while, came to my events, we chatted on the phone and exchanged emails a lot. When they announced Palin, he came rushing over to my husband and I, nearly drooling... "Do you guys like Palin?"
One of those "ah-hah" moments happened for both of us - he was WAYYYYY to eager for us to like Palin, and we told him "No, she is a warmonger" and he was never nice to me again.

You might get a new perspective on things and then we might all spend less time putting energy into things that only bring disappointment in the end. but, still, I watched her entire speech to the "Tea Party" Convention and the Q&A that followed and I didn't think she said much. I feel the same way about Scott Brown. (I'm curious how long it will take him to cosponsor S604). I don't get why tons of people get so excited about candidates like these and not about someone like Ron Paul with some of the "shocking" things he said during the presidential debates of the 2008 campaign. Maybe it's because people like Ron Paul and Peter Schiff, etc will actually DO something concrete and people more just want to hear fancy words about how they want things to be without really considering the steps that must be taken to get there.

I have always tried to be objective
I've always tried to be objective and do not like the negativity that sometimes comes from people in our movement. (although I can understand why people do lash out because they are so frustrated)
But I do have to admit that it is a little painful to listen to Palin. I don't judge her intentions but she is a little clueless when it comes to the constitution and other founding documents. She says, "the terrorists aren't worthy of OUR rights as Americans". What part of "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" is she missing? We don't have rights because we are Americans. We have them because we were born with them.
Anyway. I hope she figures it out. I'm happy Rand Paul got her endorsement. It will bring more people to the ideas of Freedom and the TRUTH about freedom (not Ron or Rand or anyone) will set them free.
Again, I just hope we can be kind, understanding, and patient in our disposition so we don't scare them away before they have a chance to understand freedom and why it needs to be preserved in all areas and on all degrees.
