Enjoyable

article! I think the empty seats (only about 4,000 in attendance according to one comment) are telling!

Some people have raised...

... Medina's so-called lack of experience. Yet the same people voted for McCain because Palin was his running mate. So, Barbie was a heartbeat away from running the country and these people had no problem with her track record, which has only deteriorated since she could not see out her term as Governor. Alaska elected Palin. Texas can do infinitely better by electing Debra Medina.

I read the article and here is my post!

Keith...

I read every post here and yours is by far the most non-biased, level-headed and truly educated of any of the rest! Thank you for it!

The timing for this article (and rally) is perfect! Consider this...with the Super Bowl so fresh on everyones mind, we have two teams, the Saints and the Colts, both from the same organization (the NFL), battling it out to see which one will be the big winner! The Fans, who actually have no stock in ownership of either the organization or the teams, boo and hiss and throw insults at each other as they cheer on their team of choice. And once the games over, who really wins? The NFL does...period! The fans don't bask in any of the glory, they don't win the MVP title, they don't get the million dollar contracts and bonuses...they just foot the bill for it all!

Now let's go over this again...we seemingly have two parties, the Democans and Republicrats, both from the same organization (The power elite), seemingly battling it out to see which one will be the big winner! The voters, WE THE PEOPLE, who actualy have no stock in ownership of either the organization or the parties (or the country anymore, for that matter), boo and hiss at each other as they cheer on their party of choice. And once the race is over, who really wins? The power elite do...period! The voters...WE THE PEOPLE, don't bask in any of the glory, WE THE PEOPLE don't get the real influence or the million dollar pensions! WE THE PEOPLE don't ever really win anything at all by supporting these Madison Avenue Infobots, all groomed slick and shiny with exciting catch phrases - (but with little real substance or character), THE POWER ELITE WIN AGAIN...PERIOD! ...WE THE PEOPLE just foot the bill for it all!

Wake up PEOPLE! The engine's broke in Washington...and instead of rotating the tires to get it moving again, the engine needs an overhaul! We can worry about the tires again later! Please start supporting candidates who represent you and not those presented to us by the power elite! Please open your eyes and start to see through them!

Oh...and by the way...Those NFL teams are also all owned by the same power elite...and we are just ga ga about it!

That is so sad! Wake up and take your country back! Your freedom is slipping away!

Palin mention Beeville twice

during the rally yesterday.
http://politicaldoc.wordpress.com/2010/02/07/sarah-palin-men...

That is Debra's hometown, a town of only population 13,000.

Coincidence?

;-)

Twice in a half-hour speech!

The post doesn't mention how far away Beeville is from where Palins' comments were made.

If it is a nearby town, it could have been chosen just to give a local rural reference that makes her speech sound like she's trying to connect with her audience; naming a neighboring town as a way of showing a personal interest in them.

HOWEVER, if there are towns closer to where Palin was speaking, and she skipped naming any of them to name Beeville twice in her half hour speech, then she clearly had an agenda in doing so.

Either way, many Texans know that any mention of Debra Medinas' hometown roots, without mentioning her, in a speech endorsing Perry, is a much greater offense against them, and their hometown girl, than any direct attack against Medina could have been.

Was it a chance coincidence, like lightening striking twice in the same place, or just a flawed strategy that has already contributed to a greatly expanding voter disconnect from neo-con platitudes, and towards agreeing with Debra Medinas' standard of Liberty?

They're about 190 miles apart

according to google maps. That's pretty far but compared to the size of Texas not so much. Maybe it was a hidden message that she really supports Debra deep down in her heart, but had already committed to supporting Perry a while ago or had to for some other reason.

;-)

"190 miles apart"

Questioning her context

If Palin had only 30 mins. to help prop up slick Rick, wouldn't you think she'd look for the most solid connections with her intended audience she could find?

If she didn't tie Beeville into some emotionally appealing approval for Perry-wrinkles' policies, then, to quote Maxwell Smart, " She missed it by THAT much."

Beeville blues sounds bogus

190 MILES AWAY!!! What were her speechwriters thinking?

That blows my community-appeal-theory out the window.

Unless there was some specific events that segued into Sarahs' speech as an example of Perrys' policies helping them, in a way that the audience would recognize; then ANY mention of Beeville without mentioning Debra Medina is a way for Palins' scriptwriters to show their disrespect for Perrys' only real contender.

I'd like to hear or read it in context. Are there any links to?

I seriously doubt Palin ever heard of Beeville before. If she avoided naming the only woman in this race who is everything she's not, then I have to believe that it was because neither Sarah or Little Ricky wanted to test the public response by doing so.

"Maybe it was a hidden message that she really supports Debra deep down in her heart..." You are far too generous! She is about as deep as a longhorn cow-pie.

There are many towns between Cypress Tx and Beeville

Cypress is north of Houston and while Beeville is very south.About 70 miles It sounds to me like and I didnt listen to her speak like she s trying to draw support away from Medina in beeveille by mentioning beeville GRRRR..........

"Homescholers for Perry"?

What a joke. Debra owns the homeschooling issue; she homeschooled both of her kids. This guy with the sign can't even spell "homeschoolers" right. Way to make the homeschoolers look bad.

You're right

I only focused on the homemade-like style of this prop without noticing the misspelling, and the way it was likely intended to make homeschoolers an embarrassment, while appearing to support them.

Many national spelling-bees have been won by homeschoolers. Even a government-schooled 5th-grader could have helped their parent spell this right.

God I hate our two party system.

"What makes you think there are two party's?"
That's a false dichotomy, a false left, right paradigm. Where you been anonymous ? How are you on history ? Have you ever studied the history of Rome and the subsequent fall of the Roman empire ? Are you familiar with the term "bread and circuses ? Most people live in a world of bread and circuses. The demicans and the republicrats count on that. They don't wanted you thinking, none of them do. A year ago the Congress and the Senate gave the FED a blank check. The FED to date has printed up close to $25 TRILLION DOLLARS..YOUR BEING ROBBED BLIND. Your Bill of rights and Constitution are almost completely eroded. Your closer to being a true homeless serf than the proud, free, industrious Americans the founders of this country envisioned. If we don't go back to the rule of law and Constitutional principles you can kiss this country goodbye. Vote Debra Medina for Governor. She will eliminate property taxes and really secure the border. These are freedom issues moreso than fiscal issues. Early voting starts February 16th and runs till February 26th. Grab your family and friends and please go vote.

Just one last kick in the nuts, then a final deathblow

I just noticed that you are "Keith"...Cool!

The entire parking lot was papered with Medina flyers!

The following was a good summation:

"For all of Palin's admittedly deft manipulation of the crowd, I noticed a distinct lack of enthusiasm among the attendees for Perry himself. The Governor, to his credit, knows he needs the help of the far right that Palin speaks to so...eloquently if he's going to prevent Debra Medina from siphoning off votes and beat Kay Bailey Hutchison for a third term. [Emphasis added]

Beat Kay Bailey Hutchison for a third term??? He had best be concerned about Debra's siphoning off his votes. People everywhere are reportedly for her and keeping mum. Getting very interesting, folks.

Yes, it was quite full of flyers apparently.

You weren't the only one to take notice:

As I got back to my car to leave the event, I found a Medina flyer rolled up and stuck in the handle of my car door. Looking around I saw thousands of them stuck on cars throughout the parking lot.

http://www.thecypresstimes.com/article/News/Your_News/PALIN_...

Good to see the Medina folks were out in full force, haha.

I would love to know what the fliers said on them.

That idea could have been a home run, or a flop, depending what the fliers said.
