I get stressed out from reading about all of this stuff.

can anyone offer suggestions. I started following politics for about year and a half and the whole thing stresses me out. I suppose if I were in love with the government it wouldn't but everything is so negative.
anyway do other people get really stressed out? and what do you do?
Thanks!

Call your "representatives"...
and scream at them for a while.
That should relieve some stress. ;-)

For an even more enjoyable time, take a kid fishing.
That
makes you human, hon, imo... I've only been around for about 2 years or so...still have lots to learn. I think the "initial" learning phase is very stressful---so much to ingest in such a short time. Anyway, I take a break now and again for a day or so. I also try to regularly listen to these 2 very relaxing videos:

when you're stressed out ... ignore everything political. :)
i do ... reiki, bluebody healing, create my day, hang out in nature, chill with friends, go to the beach, go hiking.
You have no disorder.. You see the chains that shackle you down.
Find Permaculture. By doing this for ourselves we are preparing the world for free markets. Sustainable welfare is the foundation it takes to practice free markets the right way. Each of us individually are responsible for the building blocks to a free market society.
The current system will feed us with individuals who feel just as suppressed as the author of this article, the carbon tax will push them our way, the war will push them our way, the banks will push them our way, all the derivatives of socialism will push individuals to us… all we have to do is lay the foundation.
The role of a farmer, in Fukuoka's mind, is an observer, not an intervener, of the natural order in his/her particular landscape. How is that any different than Hayek in regards to Economics?
If you're serious, you could have an anxiety disorder.
Perhaps "Generalized Anxiety Disorder," where the person obsessively worries about things. Concern is fine, when you can move on to think about other things, but if it's just constant worrying about this or that, it's GAD.
I probably do have that. So
I probably do have that. So as you can imagine losing freedom can cause a person to worry if they are a natural worrier. Also, it's hard imagine the people have let this happen over the last 100 years which is somewhat depressing.
Anyway, I sort feel helpless about the whole except for the good suggestions on this thread.
Ya, I've seen someone consumed with worry about this stuff
in real life. Not able to sleep, etc. She was a wreck. The only that can really help is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I turned off everything for a solid year and almost missed
Ron Paul and the 2008 election!
Focus on positive action or just take a break.

I've had some time to think about this, and . . .
I keep coming back to some ideas--
(can't seem to let go of this thread and the thoughts that have come)--
sorry to be long, but if anyone cares (one person) it will be worth it.
I don't know WHERE you are or how old or your family circumstances, etc.--religion.
That doesn't matter--
The fact is that when you begin to 'wake up', you begin tor realize that YOU and only you are responsible for your life and your decisions.
Whether you are able to be involved in 'street' activism, holding signs or helping out at town meetings/freedom groups or not, there are things that YOU can do in your 'personal' life (all of life ought to be personal, but I hope you know what I mean) that can really help--
wherever you are--
you may not have a home or a yard, but even if you live in a small place, find a sunny window, buy a pot and plant some herbs or vegetables--basil grows well in a sunny window--
and use it to feed yourself.
If/when you go to a store, ask yourself, before buying ANYthing:
--do I NEED this or just want it?
--did someone unseen by me suffer so that I could buy this?
--what would be more important for me to do with the time I used to earn the money to buy this?
Begin to ask yourself these questions and feel 'empowered' (overused word, but it sometimes works) in your own LIBERTY--
continue with:
--what would happen if the grocery store shelves were empty?
--who makes the fabric that goes into my clothing?
--what if hospitals begin to close or if power outages make it impossible for me to get to a hospital; CAN I make myself healthier, so that I don't need to be dependent upon other people in this way?
THAT said, depending upon other people is not bad, if you depend upon people you KNOW, whom you can also help--
but being angry with strangers if you can't find food or clean water or . . . get gasoline for your car is not showing that you are free at all--
make arrangements so that you won't have to be angry with also-enslaved strangers because you don't have food to eat.
IF you have a yard, plant a garden--
http://urbanhomestead.org/journal/
this is one place that is inspiring. *We* are not as self-reliant as this, but I can look at this site and check off many things I am doing and feel good about them--
IF you have children, question the public school system, and ask yourself why your children are attending there? If you don't have children, ask yourself if you received a truly quality education by attending public schools. If you have children, do everything you can to teach them yourself. If you don't have children, support (even if just by smiling at them) those who teach their own.
Read the constitution. Read it again.
If you are very young and are in college, question the things you are being taught. Ask yourself if you are really thinking for yourself or being 'fed'--
YOU may be very far beyond all of these things, but if you haven't gone this far even doing one little step in each of these areas and then taking it a bit farther another day will give you a feeling of personal responsibility and liberty.
It may take decades (as it has with some of us oldies), but you will get to where you will genuinely see how important personality responsibility and USING liberty are--
Yes, some things do appear to be 'out of our control'--
there are (I believe) evil people in the world who want to enslave us. But FIGHT BACK by taking back your own world, one step at a time--
Get the planter and find some real soil (local is preferred) and buy the packet of seeds and start--
oh, and if you haven't already, TURN OFF the mainstream media--
If you like watching movies, try some independent films. Question EVERYthing that comes out of "hollywood"--
Read good books, classic books--and don't stop--
this is just a beginning, but when you take back your life . . . you can begin to deal with the 'horror' of what is going on in the world--
I also HIGHLY recommend reading about, learning about, travelling to experience other cultures--so that human beings who are not Americans become real to you--
and then read the constitution one more time--
I will stop now.
I hope this doesn't offend *you*, if you don't believe in God, but as you begin this journey (or pick it back up again if have already started it), God bless you.
And, chickens, ah, chickens!!!
Animals are good--
it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--
We've just had back to back blizzards
And there's nothing we need that we don't have. Later today, I'm planning to get some seeds started for the spring in my 576 seedling rack I made a few months ago. The chickens are a little bored, but doing fine and nothing's frozen.
You're absolutely correct. The next logical step after knowing what's going on is self-reliance. I call it "becoming human again".

Great thread
We have all been there and likely will go back and forth. I find doing POSITIVE actions make me feel in control. Preparing for hard times, Positive activist actions like talking to people and handing out information. Taking time away from the computer and being with nature. My chickens make me happy and my family and dogs. I was afraid but now I have resigned myself to the fact we must take it one day at a time and make them as fulling as possible. Live, Love, Laugh in Liberty
Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.
I have actually changed your name into a adjective
When I am frustrated, I work on some art projects and I call it "applying a little quiltingsando". :)
Freedom is not: doing everything you want to.
Freedom is: not having to do what you don't want to do.
~ Joyce Meyer
"What would quiltingsando Do?"!
Would be another way to put it! : )
You said this so well--
The only thing I want to add is: Can you imagine how stressful it would be to be awake, and to be doing NOTHING? Questioning everything and learning and discerning is so important.
Some days I do have to back away from the computer, go work in the garden, enjoy pets and family, and recharge my batteries.
I also remind myself that whatever will be is beyond my control and I must just do my best to be strong and awake and aware.
When something is stressing me, I fight back!
Turn the stress into energy and motivation.

reading the problems is not
reading the problems is not fun, finding solutions is, not all solutions come from Washington, they come from with in and from our creator, to me its like a treasure hunt, and i find new things everyday. I study law for fun, there have been SO many times i was able to stop companies, or government from trying to bully me. Get involved in a small study group and find out way to make changes. Just reading negative stuff is depressing, hope this helps, good luck.
Being a responsible and free individual takes courage.
I am re-reading Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Sauron is the Lord of Phantoms and Deceits. He seeks to bring a second darkness. Frodo finds himself holding the Ring of Power Sauron needs to complete his task. Frodo, with the help of his friends set off to destroy the Ring of Power.
I think of Jesus, Gandhi and Martin Luther King and countless unknown individuals who rejected the "ring of power" over others.
I spend a lot of time reading real histories where men have dealt with the follies of men in the past.
I also look to the future. What shall I work on? How can future generations take their place in the efforts to thwart tyranny. Traditions of freedom and responsibility are taught by example.
