Reagan Sucked

Reagan appointed ex-CIA Director and "Bay of Pigs" supervisor George H.W. Bush to be his V.P. (and bring back his criminal CIA-ring, and hatch Iran-Contra). Thus, he made possible the final ruin of our Country (with Bush I, Bush II presidencies) apart from his own destruction -- which would not have happened, had Reagan not brought Bush into power.

Reagan quadrupled the National Debt. Even Nixon didn't do that.

Reagan brought us the absurd fraud of "Trickle-Down" economics (the theory that serving the interests of the Elites lifts all boats.......actually only a rising tide, from the bottom-up, can ever do that). Since then the rich have never been richer, and the middle class has never been poorer.

Reagan made prop-theater the new modus operandi for serving as President - gone now was the substance.

Reagan made WAR and Foreign Intervention popular again -- after that insanity had been successfully repudiated from Vietnam mess. So instead of correcting course, our Country just went back again into being a wasteland of ignorant Militarist fevor, and the source of most of the World's bloodshed.

I used to think Reagan was very good...

But upon getting more educated by the Ron Paul movement I realized that he really wasn't all that great.

He still supported the Fed and the big bankers.

He talked a liberty talk but that was about it.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Reagan was hideous as were all of them that came

after JFK. Puppets and buffoons in the pocket of the banksters. Spread more empire, rape, drugs, prostitution, agony, and murder domestically and abroad.

Cumulatively, even Stalin, who did many evil deeds, was not so bad compared to what has been done in our name since JFK.

Yes

I remember, although young, him taking over education with the Federal Gov't, killing masses of civilians and installing military dictators and assasinating democratically elected leaders, treating the FED like it was his personal crack dealer, giving in to every demand Israel made....basically being a traitor to every conservative speech he ever gave.

That Reagan?

As long as we're getting at the truth

Has anyone heard of the book "Thanks for the Memories" about Bob Hope ??

"Obamney care," Nuff said.

First thing Reagan did was betray liberty

Upon assuming the Presidency literally the first thing Reagan did, despite having previously spoken out against the draft, was to extend registration requirements for the Selective Slavery Service. All his other small government talk was just sweet sounding rhetoric. I voted Libertarian - Ed Clark in 80 and David Bergalnd in 84. No way was I going to vote for that Hypocrite, Reagan.

marlow

Just becasuse you were sleeping, it doesn't mean things were ok

You just didn't know what was going on. Now you do. Nothing's any different.

Good point, although I think

Good point, although I think the Reagan administration had more of a "real Presidency" feel to the puppet shows we have now...but thats probably more of an accident of history than anything.

Yea...

Reagan was a great speaker... but he was also a great actor. He did not practice what he preached, if anything he only made it harder for the rest of us to educate people about free markets.

The role of a farmer, in Fukuoka's mind, is an observer, not an intervener, of the natural order in his/her particular landscape. How is that any different than Hayek in regards to Economics?

Sonny, you need to research Reagan

He was no hero.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Trying to forget Reagan

I am trying to forget Reagan. Within a few months of Reagan taking office, I got laid off from my job. The layoff lasted 4 and one half years, during which time my highest paying job was selling belts for one of my cousins at a flea market. He cut funding for many effective social programs like funding for states to house mentally ill people, which led to hordes of insane folks wandering the streets of Chicago and freezing to the ground during the winter. He also cut funding for the Trade Readjustment Act which was an attempt to provide money for retraining to counter the loss of jobs from imports that were flooding into the country at prices well below production costs. He cut that program the very week I was to begin receiving money for school. Reagan no friend of mine and if ever I visit California I am going to fertilize his grave.

Freedom

well, I'm just glad I was let out!

I wouldn't urinate on California

unless I was standing in Nevada. Is his grave close to the boarder?

Haha...

And you're a Ron Paul supporter why?

Ron Paul votes against any federal money for the programs you are complaining about. He supports turning over funding and control of those types of programs completely to the states.

Ron Paul is no friend of yours either with regards to money from the federal govt.

HaHa

I support Ron Paul because in a sane world the States would control funding for the programs I mentioned and the Federal government would not be stealing money from the people facilitated by the federal income tax amongst other taxes, so the people and the States would have funding and resources to deal with any social or economic problems that arise. However, that was not the reality then as it is not reality now. Reagan cut funding for many effective programs at a critical time and focused on funding military spending for a bogus cold war that went a long way to bankrupting this country. Why do I support Ron Paul? Why wouldn't I support him. P.S. By the way, Ron Paul does submit requests for his share of earmarks for federal money that he thinks will benefit his constituents. P.P.S. Sounds like you had a good laugh at my circumstances of nearly 5 years of poverty and struggle. Maybe some fine day I will be able to laugh at any misfortune that befalls you. Your funny. Not like a comedian but more funny like a as* clown! o_O.

Dude...

I was laughing at the irony of you complaining about how evil cutting funding to federal programs is when Ron Paul would eliminate them totally if he had the chance.

I should also laugh at your ignorance of history. Reagan cut personal marginal tax rates by 25% in 1981 and further cuts came in 1986. The states could have easily increased their taxes proportionally to make up for any losses in mental health care funding. And most states did exactly that. Clinton made even FURTHER cuts.

Also, please research how private and community health services in California and across the country requested and lobbied that federally-funded mental health facilities be defunded because they were nightmares of abuse, neglect and filth where rape, beatings and starvation were an everyday occurence.

Apparently you never visited federally-funded mental health facilities in the 70's and 80's. I did on several occassions with community outreach groups and saw them up close and personal. People running around like animals half-naked with feces and urine visible on many them and also smeared on the floor and walls with "attendants" drunk and stoned playing cards.

The transition may have been painful for many but the results are that today the system has been transformed. State and local services that are accountable to the local citizenry are FAR superior to untouchable federal control.

If you think I was making fun of your misfortune and being down on your luck that is a personal problem and maybe you should seek some local and state funded mental health services to treat your paranoia. The facilities and treatments are much improved now.

:)

Okay, I admit to assuming a personal insult based on your headline, which I took to be the written equivalent of a belly laugh, and I apologize for my attempt at a insult directed at yourself. At the time a federally funded retraining program sounded like good policy. As I stated in my reply post, I did not actually receive any federal assistance. The only money I have ever received from the federal government is tax returns on money they already stole from me, and that miserable stimulus check that Bush sent me, which I was not about to send back even on principles, considering I've paid federal taxes approaching nearly 350,000 dollars to date. Also, I believe I articulated my reasons for supporting Paul, and I see nothing wrong with those reasons. Thankyou for your reply and have a nice day.

Pay no attention to the weeble-minded

Anybody still worshiping at the shrine of St. Ronald Wilson '666' Reagan is beyond help.

So...

So, you're against shutting down federal programs and handing over total responsibility to the States?

reagan doubled the size of the federal govt, period (rather under his name fed. govt. doubled). in fact all he probably really did was smile for the camera and read (pre tele-prompter ?) speeches... dang that sounds like the current pres. the fox news reagan myth is as silly as any other t.v. show tripe (post -hinkley reagan might as well have been the principal on saved by the bell- but wait that was the 90's, some truths are indeed eternal, "facts of life"). there was incredible poverty and high taxation in the 80's just like today- it just hadn't reached, consumed, and devoured the kinds of small towns like the one I grew up in, in the 80's. In a sentimental (i.e. false) sense I can see the point of the person who posted this; but in fact it was just like it is now, and in a way much worse- primarily bec. there was no internet for the truth of things to come out and be judged by millions. personal memories aside (many not so great there either, upon thoughtful reflection), "things" are better now (there's gotta be a gazillion formerly mulleted dudes and chicks with massive mushroom cloud hairsprayed doos that would have to agree with that, if not me).

i was born during the reagan

i was born during the reagan years. there is a picture of reagan and ron paul online somewhere we can all print out and pass out to the neo cons at the tea party, maybe with the "inflation is a tax" quote printed on it, as well as a good anti-fed ron paul quote.

this

is something i forget most of the time. some of you don't remember what it was like before Reagan. i forgot how young most of you here are. thanks for reminding me. Reagan was the 1st President i voted for.
