Facebook hemorrhage continues

More grim news on the campaign over at Debra Medina's facebook page to overtake opponent Rick Perry in facebook fans. The prospect of reaching this objective By Mar. 2 is about nil.

Tuesday 2/16 9:30 AM
Hutchison 14,942 fans
Medina 19,587 fans
Perry 24,121 fans
Satuday 2/26 8:35 AM
Hutchison 15,329 fans (+387)
Medina 23,523 fans (+3,936)
Perry 28,431 fans (+4,310)

As of 8:35 AM Saturday Rick Perry has gained 374 more new facebook fans than Debra Medina since Tuesday morning Feb. 16 and is now 4,908 fans ahead of Debra.

Perry has regained momentum over Medina, who had closed the gap by over 800 new fans just after midnight early Wednesday morning.

The loss probably results from her having outraged "truthers" and truther sympathizers by agreeing with radio talk host Mark Davis that the 9/11 truth movement and associated beliefs are "despicable."

Many decried this new Medina position as a betrayal or at least a sign that she was willing to be bullied into adopting neoconservative views and apparently took the additional step of cancelling their fan status on Medina's facebook page, effectively blunting the impact of her new fan signups.

Here are the three candidates' facebook pages:

Hypothetical thought

Now, I'm not saying this is the case -- this is *pure conjecture* here...

...but, theoretically speaking, becoming a FB friend does not necessarily indicate actual support or "fandom."

I have this image in my mind of Perry lackeys out on the street corner: "Hey, wanna earn a fast five bucks? Become a fan of this guy on Facebook."

Anyone with sufficient funds could surely use such a ploy to help pump up the perceived view of popularity.

Just saying.

yawn

again, these are not votes, but these are how the precentages breakdown:

Governor Gardasil: 42%

Debra Medina: 35%

Kay Bailout: 22%

still the same as 2 days ago.

still no one with 50%+ of the vote.

I wonder if Slick Rick is going to cry and grow a beard like Algore did when he gets stomped in the run off election.

Can you say

Runoff?

Sorry but who cares? Facebook

Sorry but who cares? Facebook will not get you elected. Did it get Ron Paul elected? Did all the internet polls we won for Ron get him elected? Will CPAC get someone elected? The answer is NO!!!

Let's get real, the only thing to get her elected is votes! Votes from folks in Texas....

I've converted two people to vote for Medina via Facebook --

maybe more. The two emailed me to thank me for bringing her to their attention. I know about half a dozen DPers who are constantly sharing Medina info on FB and sending it out to their "friends". One of my FB friends (a Texan) has over a thousand contacts and is very prolific in sending out Medina links/articles/vids. People who say "Sorry but who cares?" simply don't understand how quickly info. can be shared and the numbers of people involved.

Facebook can't get you elected???

Are you sure?

Texans are everywhere these days -- even on the interweb.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Yes,

I think it is a very useful tool, maybe not as good as doorbelling and phone calling but it's something that out-of-staters (me) and shut-ins can readily do.

New Hampshire and Ecuador

I think "hemorrhage"

is a bit dramatic...

She is a Nurse

She can deal with it better than Perry.

Hehe....

It's not enough.

Isn't it amazing how the fresh breath of truth can change one's attitude, sort of like a two by four to a mule? For all the vicious attacks on Alex Jones and the 911 truth movement at this website, you're watching one of your "shining stars" become a "shooting star" before your eyes, because you slandered us. You condemn the mainstream media's slander of Ron Paul supporters; then, you, in turn, commit the same sin against truthers. Does it hurt? I hope so. Maybe you will learn that "liberty" also means "tolerance".

It's not too late for Debra. She could spend the bulk of the "blood money" contributions she collected by selling out the truthers, to apologize for her slander; or, she can hope that Texans hate Perry more than they've come to dislike Debra. I wouldn't count on that; the "herd mentality" follows a winner; and, right now, Debra looks and acts like a loser.

I'd still prefer Debra as governor, but that's entirely up to her. She could certainly start by firing the idiot adviser that suggested she go on Glenn Beck's show in the first place. I'll wager he or she is the same mole that suggested she do Marc Davis' show. What's wrong with her sense of smell? RINOs stink.

Either way, let the Debra Medina's campaign become a lesson to all liberty candidates. Embrace the "mainstream media" and "conventional wisdom" at your peril.

What are you gonna do

when Mrs. Medina wins this thing, which she will very likely do unless the PTB can throw every switch at Diebold?

I encourage you to be "bigger" and shrug off this thing that burns in your craw.

Debra does not find you despicable, I guarantee it.

She is out getting votes 16 hours a day and she simply is not going to take time to do this kind of thing or even address it, at it has taken too much attention time and energy already.

Liberty does not equal Tolerance

Liberty means that people with conflicting views can coexist but not that one of those views should be forced upon another. In this case, some in the 9/11 movement would like to force their ideology on Medina and claim that she is being disingenuous or worse a liar because she doesn't align with their views of how that day went down. She has repeatedly said that you have the right to question. So, like you, a pundit tried to put words in her mouth and attack her for flip flopping on comments. Her comments have remained the same. She hasn't flip flopped on either issue. Watch the Rick Sanchez interview with her where she once again reiterates her point. There are a great many things that I am intolerant of, this is healthy for any person. However, as long as you don't force your views on me then we can continue to be free. Please stop using Debra Medina to further the agenda of 9/11 truth. I long since said that if you focused on the commission report and the sick and dying first responders you would have made leaps and bounds exposing the other aspects of your beliefs.

Well said!!!

People who live and die by the "sword" of 9-11 Truth would be much better served if they changed their approach. The fact of the matter is, most people don't have this issue very high up on their priority list. What will it matter when the economy collapses like the twin towers themselves? Right now, the survivors are running for the exits. We can debate what started the fire later! It will all be academic anyway, for those who survive! However I think most people are trying to figure how we survive first. Remember, all Governments collapse with their paper money. When the dollar goes only the strongest of States will survive with their liberty intact. Texas can/will be one of those States!

That's a crock...

I can recall NO ONE insisting Medina adopt "truther" views.
I DID hear hear Debra agree with Marc Davis that "truthers" who believe "911 was an inside job" are, by inference, "despicable." Had Medina stayed with her original comments, this "manure storm" would have been over long ago.

BTW, you don't know a THING about my beliefs. Answer the question, I posed Glenn Beck. If, according to the "official story," EVERY government agency failed in its mission, why didn't Bush fire, demote or discipline ANYBODY? Of course, this question doesn't address why:

1. There were no passengers with Muslim surnames on the flights
2. There were no passengers with Arab DNA among the bodies (according the USAF pathologists)
3. There is no airport surveillance footage of the "terrorists"
4. There was only ONE camera covering the side of the Pentagon that was struck. The Pentagon is the most secure above ground military installation in the world.
5. There is only a few seconds of camera footage from that one camera
6. There was no "jet wash" reported on the highway which circles the Pentagon, even though the "large commercial aircraft" traveled a few feet off the ground.

You focus on the "911 Commission Report" as if it were gospel, even when members of the commission admit they were "stonewalled" by administration officials and the CIA.

Hey, if you want to help obstruct justice in the mass murder of over 3,000 Americans, be my quest. You're the
one who has to live with that. I didn't put those "despicable" words in Debra Medina's mouth. I tried to help her campaign after the Beck interview. I also told Reed King, her West Texas Coordinator, that the one thing Debra could NOT do, was back down. She did far more than that, and she's reaping the whirlwind.

Agreed.

Either one stands by his or hers principles or not. To be that easily influenced by her advisors (I assume) is reprehensible. A true Neo-Con political position is what she so easily took. Now, unfortunately, she may very well suffer the consequences for that perilous mistake.

How is 9/11 ever been a litmus for whether a person

is a Neo-Con or not? Do you even know what Neo-Con's are? In the definition you will not find a mention of believing the official story of 9/11. You are confusing terms. Debra is not a Neo-Con because she doesn't agree with you. It is infantile to make such a statement that adherent to the Constitution can be deemed a Neo-Con (destroyer of the Constitution) because she doesn't endorse the same days events on 9/11.

New twist? Perry gives 1.4 Million to Facebook

Blog post by Carol, February 26, 2010
on www.debramedinafortexas.com

My reaction? This is NOT about economic development, this is about buying votes -when Perry is buying he’s being bought. The cronyism wheel of grants out and contributions in is enough to make one dizzy. The deal isn’t even sealed yet but the press is all over it. Why do you think this offer with its prediction of 200-600 jobs depending on the article you read, is getting this kind of play in the press, when in the past all of these “slush fund” deals have been under the radar? Slick Rick is buying votes with his slush fund and he thinks this announcement of new job creation will work in his favor in the polls. Of course no one stops to think about who will be hired and from where. If the new hires are out of work people in Texas that might make this opportunistic announcement a little more palatable but that will probably not be the case. Facebook will interview people from all over the country for these jobs and theoretically not one Texan could be hired. Regardless, votes are being bought with taxpayer money and I resent it. King Richard must go! Vote Debra Medina if you want honesty and fairness returned to Texas politics.

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced that the state will invest $1.4 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) for Facebook to create a sales and operations office in Austin. This investment will create 200 jobs and more than $3.1 million in capital investment. The TEF funding is conditioned upon the finalization of a local incentive agreement with the City of Austin.

New Hampshire and Ecuador

Did anyone catch the Rick Sanchez interview with Medina?

I was just watching it today and I think she did a better job answering the question. She also reiterated the point that people have the right to believe what they will. To address the point with Alex this late in the race might not make a hill of beans.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgzFiAfgRLs

Its interesting how the issue of 9/11 and if a candidate endorses it is far more important to these people than a candidates support of illegal wars that have killed millions of people or government endorsed torture programs. Where are they condemning these people? No, they follow the marching orders and rhetoric of Alex Jones and his theories as gospel. Those that follow any man against their common sense deserve the destruction that follows. Now I see posts where they say she is part of the establishment because she doesn't believe theories they do. Theories like the towers being blown up. There is no mainstream evidence for this being a fact. They have put the cart before the horse. In order to solve a criminal case you need an investigation. If you skip the investigation and use skepticism for the basis of your argument you yourself are a fraud and are falsifying the evidence presented. Although I believe that we have not gotten the truth of 9/11 I have not been so bold to claim that I have the truth. Are these people hounding Kay and Rick with the same level of scrutiny?

Don't let the door hit you in

To Facebook people who are un-friending Debra, see ya, don't let the door hit you in the A-- on the way out.

It just occurred to me

that a Perry campaign operative would have good reason to send the Mark Davis interview over to Alex Jones and get him all riled up in attempt to flush any truthers and truther sympathizers out of Medina's campaign, realizing that they are some of the most motivated campaigners. They could have even gotten Mark Davis to back her into that corner.

I'm not saying that happened or even that they are that smart. However, my impression is that NWO-approved candidates have access to some of the craftiest, most manipulative campaign help available so I wouldn't put it past them.

New Hampshire and Ecuador

LOL!!!

it ain't workin' dood. Medina is gonna get the votes regardless of facebook friends.

sounds like...

did you ever have a girl that totally freaked out because you un-friended her from a social networking site. "you un-friended me!?!?!?" ..haha. Its just facebook.

Something I've noticed...

...is that Debra has a lot of support from an older generation. I've seen a lot of elderly supporting her, and these people you will probably not find much on facebook or online polls. My parents and my husbands parents are just happy that they learned how to use a cell phone and check email. There was a tea party candidate forum held in my area and A LOT of the people that were in charge and showed up were elderly. My mom fit in better there than myself and my 5 kiddos. So I know they have been very politically active of late. Lets hope enough of them have been able to hear what Debra has to say.

"It could all be preventable, but we yield to the temptation of a free lunch." Ron Paul

This reminds me

I forgot to remove her as a friend. I'll do it now.

Yea, you do that

Yea, you do that PresidentRich, good riddance, then go over and friend up with Rick or Kay.
We Texans don't need the likes of you for friends.

Do you think this is the

result of AJ?

OK, even if it is who cares. Why don't we simply beef up all our efforts now. Keep in mind neo cons think they have a lead right now. Good. Just lets all beef up efforts.

Write article/thread here on DP, increase facebook, write letters to editors but all those accumulated efforts have to go somewhere they might as well go to Medina Right?

NO! Medina did this to herself!

I un-fanned her the instant I heard the interview. I then tried to call her campaign office all day to demand an apology or a refund, but they would not answer the phone. I made those calls before I knew what ANYONE else thought. I STAND FOR TRUTH.
I hardly ever even go to AJ's site, MEDINA is why I do not support Medina.
TRUTH LIBERATES.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

It was merely a faux pas on

It was merely a faux pas on Debras part.

Your quotes.
"TRUTH LIBERATES"," I STAND FOR TRUTH"
Yea, then go vote for one of two of the biggest liers in government, Rick or Kay.
I really dislike holier-than-thou people like you. You ought to un-fan from yourself for the lies you've told in your life.
You don't stand for anything!
