Another sub-par Ad

What do you think? Kind of bland. Better than "He's catching on".....but????

I like the ad

I didn't think it was sub-par at all.

ad..

I think we need more ads like this one
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_gK...
very effective...draws sharp contrast...

link didnt work

the link you sent didnt work

For the love of God!

Axe the guy in charge of making these commercials!!!

What are you talking about?

That ad was awesome! The man speaking was extremely forceful and direct. The message was awesome.

Its Ron Paul

I don't know how old some of you are but Ron Paul isn't running for a Rock Star. This is exactly the type of ad he should run. People are worried about healthcare, maybe not young people but 30's and up it is among one of the top issues. He is a Doctor and if anyone understands the buracracy of our healthcare system Dr Paul does. This type of ad is how he will WIN.

Exactly

Exactly. Ads need to be inspiring, not mediocre. Unfortunately, there will be no changes made.

Not too bad

I would give it a b-. Not as bad as people suggest.

I will say that people often do things on emotion....including voting. I'd like to see more ads with strictly people cheering for him at numerous venues; like the one that one first place, but exclusively of people throughout the country doing so. People attract people and this will get people's attention. And no other Republican can do that as they simply do not have the support at their rallies.

That said, these specific issue ads are also important.

Either way, where are our Florida ads??? :)
We're waiting! Our elderly can't get their hand off the remote long enough to get to a computer....even if they could use one.

Simple, Dr Paul should

Simple, Dr Paul should follow his philosophy on free, creative enterprise and allow his grass roots the opportunity to pitch ideas for his ad campaign. The ads thus far have been lackluster, in sharp contrast to the kind of spark that is so prevalent in his speeches/rallies and debates.

I don't think this is that

I don't think this is that bad. I'll admit it didn't grab me the first time I watched it, but this time I paid attention because of your critique and I thought it was not bad, especially for a campaign message. The funny thing is, Dr. Paul seems to be able to do no wrong. When he seems normal and humble, people love it.

Precisely why waiting to donate is HELPFUL

It is ads like this that made me, weeks ago, suggest ignoring the "official campaign" requests for more money to air TV ads in NH and IOWA...and wait until Dec.16th TEA PARTY to donate. That would ensure that Ron Paul would have money left for a more complete campaign in all other states, including those making up "Super Tuesday" (Feb.5th), when 83% of delegates needed to WIN the nomination are up for grabs.

This is a WAR, not a skirmish. Save some ammo.

"If going to a gun fight, best NOT bring a sword".

GIVE IT ALL for RON PAUL Dec.16th TEA PARTY 07

"Luctor et Emergo" - Struggle and Emerge

It's not polished but it gets the message out

If you're expecting some sort of high budget polished, made to look like every other TV ad out there then yes this ad isn't very good. But really it's the message that counts. I'd rather see the campaign getting several different low budget ads out there about many different topics than one or two big budget ads that look nice but don't really get enough of the message out.

except the cost is in the air time not production

The production work is far, far, cheaper than the air time.

Especially given the fact Ron has numerous people out their in the business that would make him the deals of a lifetime to help him do it.

Then for crying out loud get

Then for crying out loud get the free talent to work on solving this (the Ron Paul volunteer army).

What this nation needs right now

is a President people can trust. This ad certainly emphasizes that quality in Dr. Paul.

I like it.

There is a time and place for all types of ads. This one is certainly not one of my all time favorites because I have "awoken" but it's very good for those who are still asleep.

Not impressed,either

I agree, the newest ad is disappointing.
The previous few were better than this one, which is not saying much.
It seemed scripted to me-and RP is anything but scripted.
Also,it was booooooooring.
Hey,I'm a former democrat,female,38 yrs,not a 20 something,and I too found it lackluster to say the least.
I was hoping with the new money donated, the ads would get a bit more professional, while not being 'slick' or anything.
I love some of the you tube videos-which I know are LONG,but I'm sure we can do more with 30 seconds.
Sincerely-I would not bother saying it if it did not mean something to me.
Please stop slamming people that are not 150% pleased with every single ad by this campaign. It's nothing personal-
then again,it's VERY personal: We want Ron Paul to WIN.

I'm a Ron Paul supporter

I'm a Ron Paul supporter (and young) and I LOVED THIS AD SO MUCH!!!!!

I guess it doesn't really bother me if others disliked it...but I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BEST AD FROM ANY CAMPAIGN THIS ENTIRE ELECTION CYCLE!

Amen.

Make the ad agency compete with the grassroots

Some months ago when I saw the first NH TV spots, I couldn't understand how a campaign basking in the light of so many strong ideas and talented supporters could run drab, amateurish, and uninspiring spots. Yes - I know that the message of liberty does sell itself to those who care to listen. That said, getting them to listen in the first place is what the campaign is paying ad agency talent to do, and it's failing to deliver to full potential in my view. It's called "breaking through the clutter", and these ads fail to do that.

I don't have the talent to make such pieces on my own, but it's clear that many in the grassroots have put forth efforts often superior to those done by the campaign. Are these ads really tested in focus groups, or by any other basic marketing measures? Does the campaign believe these are what they should be running? I live in Boston, and have seen numerous McCain and Giuliani ads, but nothing from Paul. Does anyone know if this ad will run with local news, or elsewhere, perhaps on national cable news within some markets?

In terms of this particular ad, it's an improvement upon the multiple bearded guy spots and pale, chiseled Ayn Rand lookalikes of before. It still needs refinement:

1. Why is the first shot of Paul shown looking away from the viewer when the narrator says "I say we need Ron Paul for President." The first depiction of Paul should be with his eyes looking at the camera to grab the viewer while this thought of Paul and the Presidency runs through their mind.
2. Why is there no text framing anything important? How about "Ron Paul on government healthcare" at the start, or simply "Ron Paul" when Paul first appears in person, or a larger "ronpaul2008.com" at the end?
3. Why is the only text used shown oddly colored and angled, and too long to read in the time allotted, supporting a claim that needs no support? "Soldiers face neglect, frustration at army's top medical facility - Washington Post." This is distracting.
4. Why does the narrator describe "moldy rooms" and other poor VA conditions, but show a man in a wheelchair in a corridor, perhaps near a window?
5. The narrator himself grabs attention, but borders on militaristic in tone.
6. In general, these ads should show popular support of Paul, not actor support. People see their neighbor's support as more legitimate and actionable than that of an unknown actor, particularly media-saturated Americans used to such tactics.
7. Finally, Paul's breadth of ideas can't be addressed in 4 or 5 ads. The campaign either needs to point people to resources where they can research Paul, or differentiate themselves with the number of different policy positions they are willing to address. In a market with extensive time purchased, this overall package will make Paul more complex and accomplished to the viewer.

The best part of this ad is the closing by Paul. It's earnest, optimistic, and the smile is effective and connects easily.

I liked this ad.

It was a great ad because it was straightforward and damning of government controlled healthcare. I think its silly to want something like many of the internet ad's that fans have made. We need to appear as a down to earth candidate who cares about peoples values rather than focusing on bashing bush and republicans or coming off as only popular with young people. This beats the hell out of any romney or huckabee ad I've seen.

yep

thought it was pretty good

"we fear change, especially nickels"

Because this campaign gets no second chance,

Every mainstream ad (radio, tv, & print) has got to hit its targeted audience with passion- get those viewer's emotions all stirred up. Sort'a like: Hey! There's a revolution going on here and we need you to join the party! So if after seeing or hearing a Ron Paul ad and they don't feel like shouting "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any longer!" well then, maybe the ad needs to be reworked or reconsidered altogether.

It's amazing how many excellent RP YouTube clips there are floating on the web. I have been awed by the power of their inspirational messages of hope and freedom- a few even getting me all choked-up toward the end. That's what we want to hear. That's what we need to hear.

"I should'a brought a bigger boat."

Its a good ad what can you do in 30 seconds

It's only 30 seconds you have to get the message to people Ron Paul is a Dr. it does just that Its better than thee drawn out Hillary or Obama ads

watched this ad three times...

simplicity truthfullness non-agressive gentle caring!
these are the words coming to me after watching this absolutely terrific ad!!!
my mom and sister also loved it...

Amen to that.

-JP

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.

Can't people agree that everyone is going the extra mile

to get Dr. Paul exposure and ideally the Republican nomination? Critiquing every move is going to stall momentum and creativity.

Going the extra mile means

Going the extra mile means hiring professionals who actually have strength and experience that can be put to immediate use. Also, NOT using the incredible force for action that all of the Ron Paul volunteers represent is just foolish!

not impressed

even with my full support of the concept, the advertisement is far from compelling to me. I think that at least for my demographic, it puts up more walls than it breaks through.

My $0.02: take the money that I donated and hire a television ad consulting firm to make effective ads, or at least veto the one's that are sub par... such as this one.

Truth be told it might take more than I donated alone... but hey the 16th isn't too far away :)

You guys against this ad are nuts

There is only one candidate talking about health care. This ad will play very well in Mass where small businesses are now required to be part of a Universal health care system thanks to Romney.

The debates don't even both asking the only doctor about health care, this will get people thinking. He is tapping into those that are sick of big government health care and definitely does not want part of Romney/Hillarycare.

I think the attitude of the guy grabs attention, reminds me of a New Yorker.
Me and my meetup group buddy both thought the same. It grabs attention and let's people know that Ron Paul is the health care solution candidate.
