I'm going to argue for this 'window'...
As far as his age...
a half-dozen 'getaways/speaking engagements' per year
is NOTHING...
compared to the grueling schedule of a 2012 Presidential Campaign that so many are encouraging him to do.
Freedom is (now) popular beyond our wildest dreams and going epic viral.
The principles he speaks so well on... transcend culture(s).. and give hope. Even the Japanese diet needs hope! God knows Iceland needs it.
He knows how to tread (and avoid landmines) except the ones he CHOOSES to step on. Like War.
But sound money, working hard, sovereignty can easily fill a 45 minute speech.
The benefits to further promote what he's devoted his life to would be unimaginable... a quantum leap.
He's no coward... standing up at CPAC and arguing against War... to a bunch of hawks took guts.
He's our hero.... the World desperately needs heros...
and Liberty needs just a single voice... the world is straining to hear it. It has the amazing ability to completely drown out tyranny and set hearts ablaze.
I actually believe he's 'anointed' to do so.
He has NOTHING to fear.... he's ALREADY given his life.

The only trouble with an aggresive foreign schedule is that it might be a slight political risk...it might seem presumptuous coming up on an election year. But I agree it would be awesome--and he should do more. I would love to see him speak in eastern europe---I'm sure it would be so refreshing for them---and it would really inspire the young people.

Dr. Paul first suggested that in a parking lot in Des Moines, Iowa on June 30, 2007. "I am very happy to be a part of what you are doing." It made a few of us over at RP Forums stop and think and comment. I believe it was the first time he had ever communicated that to us. Here is a video of that moment.

I hope he does travel and speak (though at his own pace). He is truly a great man and is admired abroad, and I bet it would be a great experience for him to see that while spreading the message of liberty worldwide. Might be difficult for Carol though.

You're correct in that the liberty movement needs to develop the young leaders of tomorrow. This is happening and is being worked on.
The simple fact remains that Ron Paul is at the top of his game and is the BEST representative of our movement at the current time.

If he chose say . . . Adam Kokesh as VP, then he could easily "step-down" when needed. I think it would be great for him to run, IF he could get elected with the right VP, one that will carry on strictly according to his principles.

I agree in principle
that he would chose a young VP candidate. But one doesn't announce the VP choice until one wins the nomination. That is a tough fight (as we have seen) and the matter of his age IS going to come up during the fight..... mark my words.
Let me be clear. I ADORE and IDOLIZE this man. I think if he runs it will be NOT because he thinks he can win, but because the message of liberty can be spread even farther and wider. Whether we should DEMAND this grueling schedule of him is what I question. I often feel it is selfish on our parts to expect so much MORE of him than he has already given.
But he is an adult and will make that choice. My only point is that he CANNOT do EVERYTHING (including go on speaking tours all over the world as this forum topic suggests).

I have the same concerns and belief
However only RP can make the decision on whether to run. I think his is drawing strength from the growing momentum. One of the most important things he said at CPAC was that he was optimistic that something big is happening!

You are right, and Dr. Paul is young at heart
but there are physical REALITIES that we have to start facing. There is only so much that one human being can do. If he decides to run in 2012 I will be thrilled (and concerned for him). But I certainly don't think he should start sapping his strength by travelling all over the world. I forgot to add, Ron Paul also happens to be a....
physician (like my dad, also of same age)...still very much in the game of perk.
I know their "realities" of age, however being an MD (treat/dx/maintain/restore health) I believe they know how to take CARE of themselves better than the rest of us...just my 2cts.
If he's going to remain in Congress,
he needs to stay home and take care of business. If he goes anywhere this year, it should be to see the troops.
I can see the headline now,"Ron Paul travels to Iceland, snubs troops in Afghanistan and Iraq".
If he's really serious about being president, he should retire from the congress. Take a grand tour and let Americans see his popularity around the world which would make the fringe talk more difficult.

Careful
Ron Paul could step in a big pile of do do by inserting himself into the politics of other countries. Misunderstanding a culture, or a history, or a tradition in another country could result in saying or doing insensative things, and that could result in his political enemies pouncing on his gaffs to discredit him at home.
No, it is best that he sticks with what he knows and can do something about: America. If he is successful here, people in other nations will take heed and start their own rEVOLutions.
