Huffington Post hit piece on Ron Paul
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/earl-ofari-hutchinson/ron-paul...
Ron Paul is still as scary as ever -- or maybe I should scarier than ever -- for the GOP. This has absolutely nothing to do with his unsurprising landslide win in the Conservative Political Action Committee's annual presidential straw poll. It was hardly the win of the ages, since the CPAC convention was stacked with tea party zealots, and young zealots at that. More than half of those voting for the likes of Paul were under age 25.
Paul mania poses a quandary for the GOP. The young and not so young, and there are millions of them, are still true believers of his off-beat views, from paring government down to virtually nothing to his controversial off beat quips on race matters. During the 2008 presidential campaign, they rabidly defended Paul against all comers even after he was unceremoniously dumped from the ballots. This created a huge problem not for the Democrats, but for the GOP. The millions that went into a swoon over Paul were in no mood to mob the polls to vote for another placid, corporate, Beltway insider GOP presidential candidate. John McCain was that candidate. No Paul around, no vote. Many stayed away from the polls in droves. Despite the scoffs at Paul's win at CPAC, and GOP assurances that it will have absolutely no impact on the 2012 presidential election, the scary Paul phenomenon could do just that.
Paul's fanatical backers are enthralled that Paul is the lone Jeremiah crying in the wilderness against big government, big taxes, big corporate domination, and big wars. But that's not the only thing they like about Paul. He fans anti-immigrant flames. In a 30 second TV spot that ran in New Hampshire during the 2008 campaign, he demanded that students from alleged terrorist countries be denied visas into the U.S. Paul offered no proof that there are hordes of students pouring into America to commit terrorist acts. The ad was more than just a cheap ploy to fan terrorism fears. This reinforced the worst in racial and religious stereotyping and negative typecasting. The stereotype is that anyone in America who is a Muslim with a non-white face is a terrorist.

HuffPo is trash
That's the bottom line, I think.
The dogs are out.
To complement this journalistic excrement, check out the misguided attack piece by David Frum on CNN.
http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/02/22/frum.ron.paul.gold/
Personally, I'm glad the good Dr. is keeping these dipshits up at night.
BAIT
Obama is in power and liberals have nothing to argue against the president, senate or house, the Huffpo is irrelevant and need people to go and blog. Huffpo just want us to go to their site and fire the spark of debate. That will make them relevant again.
Is Hutchinson even talking about the same Ron Paul?
Ron Paul fans the flames of terrorism fear? That's a laugh. Isn't he supposed by some (falsely, I believe) to be "soft on terror?" Paul is a critic of the War on Terror and decidedly not it's greatest proponent. Hutchinson's claim is utter nonsense.
I should be embarrassed to confess that I have listened to literally hundreds, perhaps even thousands of hours of RP speaking. Yet, I have never heard RP make "off beat quips about race." Hutchinson is just sliming Paul with vague, undocumented character assassination techniques around the volatile subject of race. In all, the portrait Hutchinson paints of Ron Paul is completely counterfactual and counter-reality.
Exactly how does Hutchinson know that I think Ron Paul is the Biblical prophet Jeremiah? I think he's being a bit overly dramatic in trying to paint Paul's supporters as dangerous, fanatical religious cultists. That's reaching to say the least.
The poster of this thread is correct: Hutchinson's article really is a hit piece.
Takin it from all sides
Anyone that is hated both by the statist at Fox as well as the Statists at Huffington is clearly doing something right.

Pretty good for a huffpo comment section
"Pundits such as Earl find actual history inconvenient, and find it much easier to adopt conventional wisdom as history."
Ain't that the truth.
It's no surprise
Earl Ofari Hutchinson was never a fan of Ron Paul's. He wrote a number of hit pieces during Paul's presidential run, including one that made an assertion I found ridiculous: that the vast majority of blacks agree with the war on drugs and don't want it to end.

What you are seeing from both the neo-liberal and neo-con press is extreme anger that Dr. Paul is garnering so much support from the 18-25 yr old voting block with groundswell enthusiasm on college campuses ... the writing is on the wall and they know it.
Don't forget...
Don't forget us old folks! Half of the 30% that voted for RP are 25 and older.

Im calling you out. You are a racist. Keep your progressive outpouring of hysteria. Ive been following Paul for years, have plenty of multicultural friends, AND FAMILY and do not see a racist bone in him.
How would I know? Im a yankee living in the deep ass south and know the tell tale signs of a racist. I see them of two colors on a regular basis here in Mississippi. Is Chris Rock correct? Who is more racist.. White people or Black people?
COULD WE HAVE PREVENTED THE DEATH OF 600000 PEOPLE TO END SLAVERY? Step outside your 'emotion' and look at some facts.. and 'gasp' IMAGINE. Did that many people have to die to end slavery?

The people working for Paul didnt win, but didnt give up either. HR 1207, the legislation with bipartisan support has 317 co-sponsors. OUR people just handed Ron Paul A LANDSLIDE VICTORY AT CPAC.
Read what Paul has written. Watch his videos. Meet his supporters.
How is B.O. working out for ya? I supported Paul, that under social issues had most in common with B.O. Only I KNEW that B.O. was full of it. Hows that Guantanamo, Patriot Act and Iraq and Afghanistan wars working out for the left? Yea tool bag. You fell for the grape kool aid didnt ja?
Guess Id rather be a tea bag than a tool bag. I support freedom, peace and sound money. It looks like you support defending why your guy doesnt stand up for a damn thing he ran on.
Good luck with that.

This person did not deserve such a
fantastic reply - but that it is!
Please post it there, too!
It is very hard to read comments about RP at Huffinpuff, etc. Knowing not a thing about him, they go on and on... with the most atrocious frothing-at-the-mouth.
MFkers
Wont post the response. I suppose free speech only matters if you agree.

I've found
the HuffPo censors to be pretty strict, especially if you include links that criticize Obama. They also won't post comments pointing out John Kerry is a member of the Skull & Bones society.

Yep, and most of those are neutral or positive
I am so happy to see stuff like this. Even a neutral comment feels positive when read on Huffpo.

This jackass seems vaguely
This jackass seems vaguely familiar. The interview he's quoting was with the late Tim Russert and it was one of those obvious smear attempts, similar to what Glenedict did to Medina. Shortly after news came out of 'Lincoln Letters', digitally scanned online by a university. Included is correspondence from Lincoln discussing buying slaves freedom. I posted this in comment, including Earl stab 'know-nothing Americanism' suggesting he include that in his own signature to the piece.

People Should Submit Their Disapproval In The "Comments" Section
It's one thing for some hack writer to disagree with Ron Paul's views, Libertarianism, or have issues with CPAC.
But it is entirely another thing to just smear Ron Paul with phony, made-up charges of racism, hating muslims, and being "scary" -- which is itself an attempt to fan the flames of something...This is totally unethical, and the writer should be fired.
People should go to the article (at HuffingtonPost) and respond back to the author within the Comments section located below the article.
This type of hack-punditry ought to be strongly opposed, and anyone who travels that road should feel our wrath.

An incredibly stupid hit piece.
Read the comments, people aren't buying it. The huffington post has generally been very fair to Ron Paul.
Huh?
No, it hasn't. Maybe recently it's been better, but while he was running for president, it was as vicious as the rest of the media, especially the posts by the their blogger, Jason Linkins.
He's getting raked
by his readers, though. Funny. Liberals love Ron Paul too.
