Bob Barr Wants Cash

This was in a donation email from Bob. Seems we've been here before. Might have been nice of him to acknowledge Ron's hard work.

In other words, normal Bob "I'll let Ron do the heavy lifting" Barr.

This was part of an html email that had a separate "Donate Today" button at the top of the page.

Dear Friend,

Over this past weekend, the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) was held in Washington, D.C. The event is a gathering of 10,000 activists, organizers and leaders from around the nation.

Since 2004, I’ve witnessed CPAC attendees go from a neo-conservative, pro-interventionist, mindset that was closely aligned to the Republican Party, to a gathering of folks who are waking up to liberty and increasingly finding themselves politically homeless.

This year, that shift was obvious to just about everyone.

As an example, Mike Huckabee, had this to say, “CPAC has become increasingly more libertarian and less Republican over the last years, one of the reasons I didn’t go this year.”

Huckabee’s statement is not only representative of the rise of our shared values; it’s also a telling example of how Republicans work.

For many years, I have chosen to attend and speak at CPAC and many other events – “conservative” and “liberal” – knowing good and well that I may very well be booed for delivering a pro-liberty message. I also know countless others who do the same. Does the fear of facing an opposing argument keep us out of attendance?

Heck no!

Unlike Huckabee and his colleagues who feel entitled to respect and a cheering crowd, we embrace the opportunity to deliver a pro-liberty message to those who may not want to hear it.

That’s one clear difference between them and us. We’re willing to fight to get our nation onto a path of liberty, while they walk off of the field when times get tough.

This year, I had the opportunity with former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore to debate Congressman Dan Lungren and former Bush Department of Justice Official Viet Dinh on the topic, "Does Security Trump Freedom?"

The lively debate was a prime opportunity to deliver a clear, pro-liberty message. Yes, I was booed by some and cheered by others but, in the end, I was able to voice an opinion on individual liberty to those in the room and many others watching on CSPAN.

Here’s a brief clip of the debate on YouTube (take note of the headline).

While this year’s CPAC was telling, our work is just beginning.

Later this week, I will be launching a new organization that allows us to carry our fight outside of the political arena and into the communities and courts around the nation. Please stay tuned.

In Liberty,

Bob Barr

Bob barr

Bob barr's absurd campaign forced me to vote for Ralph "$10 minimum wage" Nader last year because I felt that he was the only honest man left in the election. Yes, I know, Mr. Baldwin is a nice man, but I just can't vote for the Christian Theocracy Party.

Screw you Bob barr, go away forever.

Bob Barr jeered at CPAC for saying waterboarding is torture

Republican congressman-turned-Libertarian Bob Barr got a chorus of jeers at the CPAC conference Friday when he declared that waterboarding is torture.

Bob Barr Attends Ron Paul Rally to Woo Paul Supporters

September 02, 2008 1:47 PM

ABC News' Nitya Venkataraman reports from Minneapolis: In an effort to reach out to supporters of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, 2008 Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr stopped by Paul's Minneapolis "Rally for the Republic" to meet and greet supporters of the Texas congressman.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Don't know why

but I was expecting him to mention Ron's CPAC straw poll win. Sheesh! It's the proverbial elephant in the living room and he's pretending that we won't notice that he's studiously avoiding acknowledging it.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Bob Barr wants money

And the Libertarian Party wants a real Libertarian to run for President this time.

gah... is he back already?

He's never getting anywhere near my vote.

I am with you.

There may be some commenting in this thread who have forgotten (or, perhaps, they weren't around then, and so, aren't aware) how Barr behaved during the '08 campaign.

I remember.

No worries with him asking for donations; anyone can do that. And, anyone is free to donate as they see fit. Those people would be wise, however, to first ask themselves if their funds might not achieve greater things if given to Medina or Dennis or any of the far worthier candidates.

As mentioned below, demand for $upport is great and resources spread thin. Spend wisely.

I'd agree that it's unseemly for Mr. Barr to discuss the forward momentum of the '10 CPAC without acknowledging the success of Ron Paul in the straw poll, but what else would one expect of him?

He must be kicking off his "Hey, hey; remember ME???" tour.

Yawn. Next?

I remember well. He left my state out to dry with no contact at

all. He flubbed our filing his name on the ballot. So I guess he paid the piper for that one. I am no fan of Barr. But I disagree with the OP and many of the replies below about any "attack" for failing to mention RP.

I'm mailing him some Monopoly money tomorrow!

That should help him get the point!

Bob Barr can kiss it..

He's a Neo-Con trying to play libertarian.

Not a neo-con

I've seen several articles with him advocating a non-interventionist foreign policy.

Who is Bob Barr?

Can't put my finger on it???

For Freedom!
The World is my country, all mankind is my brethren, to do good is my religion.

He Ran For President in 2008

He is a former Congressmember who switched from the GOP to the LP for (wait for it) the POWER! (Not.)

Nobody joins the LP for the political advantages. I think he really was disgusted with the GOP under Bush.

He has had a learning curve as most of us do, and you can bet he was grilled by the delegates at the LP Convention before he was nominated (not on the first ballot, either).

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I'm with you

Always was with ya ;)

For Freedom!

Why is it so Important

Why is it so important to attack your allies?

Bob Barr was part of a group who asked Ron Paul to run for the presidential nomination on the LP ticket after the GOP locked him out.

Barr did throw his hat into the ring until Dr. Paul was out of the race.

He's probably still paying off some campaign expenses. Give him a break.

It's not about the man, it's about the message. This e-mail was about the message.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I remember when way back when Barr announced his candidacy..

the conspiracy theorists hated him. They were convinced he was a "plant" sent by the New World Order. Lacking the knowledge of the electoral process in the U.S., they actually thought Barr was running against Ron Paul when he announced his candidacy in the Libertarian Party. And when they found out he had been in the CIA, they really hated him. This fringe conspiratorial element will always hate him. Then when Barr was invited to that press conference with Dr. Paul, then backed out when he found out what it was really going to be about (apparently Paul's campaign staff neglected to explain to him what it was going to be about first), a lot of Paul supporters resented him.

I think that sums it up. I don't have a problem with him. I think his views are good.

Does Barr ever publicly

Does Barr ever publicly support Ron Paul?

...

Yes, He Introduced the Motion to Nominate Ron Paul

Yes. Bob Barr made the motion in the Libertarian Party National Committee to ask Ron Paul to accept its nomination for President after John McCain was nominated by the Republican Party. Congressman Paul declined. Only then did Bob Barr seek the Libertarian Party's nomination.

...

I Agree Completely

It is such a waste of our precious resources (time and money) to attack other people in the libertarian movement when there are so many BIG GOVERNMENT politicians and officials that we need to defeat.

Maybe he should gracefully bow out then and support the man...

with the real message! I will not waste my precious resources or money on him! I support Ron Paul and those like him...period!

He's a weasel.

That's my opinion.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

It Takes All Kinds

Do you think he's in it for the power or the money or the fame?

And forget sabotage. No counter-agents would bother with the LP when there are bigger fish to fry.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

I don't thnk he's "in it"

at all.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Then Why Do You Care?

There are so many other battlefronts.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Maybe because he wants money when he hasn't earned it.

The "libertarian influence" and Ron's win had nothing to do with the LP (the "invisible" party). They want cash based on the work of others yet do little themselves.

It's sleezy and pathetic.

I make one post voicing an opinion and now this is my "battlefront"?

????

Um, okay.

Ron Paul "Sign Wave Across the USA" -- November 5th!

Any textbook regarding war would warn against spreading your

resourses to thin. Hitler and Napoleon learned that lesson the hard way - So many fronts, so little time! LOL
