Palin and Huckabee cry boo hoo about CPAC, libertarians, and the tea party movement
Huckabee complains about once again losing the CPAC poll, CPAC being attended by libertarian-leaning conservatives and tea party activists, etc. He literally complains about the "truly grassroots people getting involved" at CPAC. Um, isn't that a good thing? Why does Huckabee OPPOSE the conservative revival that is the Tea Party movement? Sounds to me like more proof that a certain someone was never conservative to begin with.

From Politico:
Huckabee, a 2008 Republican presidential contender and potential 2012 candidate who had spoken at the conference for years, said the reason he blew it off this year was that the meeting has become dominated by libertarian activists.
“CPAC has becoming increasingly more libertarian and less Republican over the last years, one of the reasons I didn’t go this year,” Huckabee said in an interview with Fox News, where he is a paid analyst and has his own show.
He was responding to a question about whether he was upset by his single-digit showing in the conference’s straw poll, which was won by libertarian-leaning Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas).
But it wasn’t the only criticism the Arkansan leveled at CPAC.
Huckabee said the rise of the tea party movement had “taken all of the oxygen out of the room,” rendering the venerable conference far less relevant than it had been in previous years.
“Where CPAC was historically the event, the tea parties are having their own events all over the country and a lot more truly grassroots people are getting involved because of the tea parties,” said the former governor.

Sounds like his real disdain is for those people who are
getting involved on a grassroots level in order to try to make their voices heard. Whether it's "libertarian-leaning conservatives" or "tea party activists", to use his own words, these "truly grassroots people getting involved" at CPAC seem to be a genuine irritation to him. Evidently, he's upset that the content of the pews is changing and fewer of them care about his sermons anymore.

Huckabee was pretty truthful.
Huckabee was pretty truthful. The Republican Establishment composed of globalists, NeoCons and Council on Foreign Relations people are no longer dominating the "Conservative" label. The people the Huckster referred to as Libertarian are really what the Republican Party is supposed to be.
The corrupt leadership which endorses big government, undeclared wars, undermining our freedoms, and continued theft through inflation and bailouts, is losing it's grip.
So much for those of you who think the Republicans are taking over the Tea Parties. The Republican Establishment is NOT WELCOME at the Tea Parties. Ask Sarah Palin.
Huckabee doesn't want too much freedom.
Huckabee's objection to libertarian influence is basically saying that he really doesn't believe in freedom, and confirmation that the Republican party he wants is just another branch of the single Demopublican party.

Also, from my comment buried below:
I believe this is the real reason Chuckabee didn't go. We've seen this slimeball opportunist in action and he's looking to latch onto Palin's skirt.
According to a Politico report, a source said Palin does not want to be affiliated with David Keene, the head of the American Conservative Union, which organizes CPAC.
Keene recently was in the news for accepting a sponsorship for the conference from GOProud, a homosexual activist group.

What did Palin say?
Seems like Huckster said it not Palin.
Huck's comments
I love how he states that the conference has been increasingly libertarian and less republican, as if that's a bad thing!
As a born-again Christian myself, I have to admit (as I often do), that many confessing Christians (such as Huck), fail to truly appreciate libertarianisms parallels with a full-orbed, mature biblical theology. And I've known and interacted with more than a few in the last 15 yrs. to know this to be true.
It's sad because he has a great personality, but he comes off as shallow and immature intellectually.
Where is your proof that
Where is your proof that Palin cried "boo hoo"? You only supported your assertion that Huckabee is a whiner.

this is the part where you
this is the part where you have to read the article. The article itself focuses mostly on Huckabee. Palin isn't quoted until the very end... basically, she was reported as not attending because of the CPAC hosting the John Birch Society as well as issues about her ditching last year after agreeing to speak...
Thought not as directly as
Thought not as directly as Huckabee, Palin also took shots at the conference. In explaining last year why the Alaskan wasn’t attending, Palin aides raised two issues: a lobbying controversy involving David Keene, whose American Conservative Union puts on the event and the presence of the extremist John Birch Society.
Unmentioned, but also possibly a reason she stayed away, was that CPAC organizers complained when Palin appeared to agree to attending the conference in 2009 only to then not show up.

Just more proof...
This is just more proof that Huckabee thinks that big government is good, he just doesn't like it doing what Obama wants. But he'd be happy if it did what he wants.
The government needs to stop interfering in our lives, not just hand the power to another power-hungry nutjob who wants to push his own beliefs on everyone else.

my question is
there were 10,000 people there, only 3000 voted, why didnt they vote? its not our fault they coundnt get thier votes its thiers so my aswer is they just plain suck thats why they lost wah wah wah wah, boo hoo, nodody likes us. no substance, no vote, got it? they make it sound like we cheated. they did themselves in
I hope this makes you all smile!
I think I figured out why Huckabee REALLY didn’t want to go to CPAC, I think he realized that there would be actual conservatives there.
From 2007 the Washington post describes governor Huckabee's conservative politics.

What was seen in the past as an indicator of who conservative activists preferred in the next presidential race became ratified AS ALL BUT WORTHLESS as boos rained down in the ballroom when it was disclosed that Paul had won the contest..."

It is getting pretty interesting knowing they cannot ignore or control us...there are some in this movement that, if what they are doing is for real, it MUST be making some of them scared to tears right now
I am SO sick of both of those hypocrites!
That Huckleberry Hound Barney Fife wannabe, with his folksy and pious pontificating, always brings to my mind the quote by Sinclair Lewis: "When fascism comes to America, it will be carrying a cross and wrapped in the flag."
As for Palin, yes, all her weepiness over being attacked (ATTACKED, I tell you!) on account of having had a retarded child is just SO heart-rending! I think maybe she is just jealous because, aside from her attempted takeover and co-opting of RON PAUL'S Tea Party movement, her son is getting more attention than she is ---- and has a higher IQ too.
