A reportedly "independent poll" confirms that Rand Paul has taken a big lead.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ophthalmologist and taxpayer advocate Rand Paul has surged to a 21 point lead in the Republican Primary for United States Senate, according to a new independent poll released today. The survey, conducted by Magellan Strategies, shows Dr. Paul with a commanding 44-23 percent lead over establishment candidate Trey Grayson.

The poll also shows that likely Republican primary voters hold a 67 percent favorable opinion of the Tea Party Movement.

“Rand Paul is traveling the state and sharing with his fellow Kentuckians the message of term limits, balanced budgets and the need to rein in out of control spending and debt,” said campaign advisor Jesse Benton. “Dr. Paul is the candidate of the Tea Parties and is working hard to bring his pro-American message to Washington to fight for Kentucky values.”

Ain't over till it's over

Rand leading 44-23? Hmmm, what about the other 33% ? Are they undecided? That's a big chunk of change in the unknown. Not very reassuring.

Maybe he is or maybe not

The America's Independent Party, which I understand backs Bill Johnson, claims Magellan apologized for not including BJ in the Poll data.

I've tried contacting David Flaherty who represents Magellan Data and Mapping Strategies, but to no avail.

Hopefully this can be cleared up and Paul will still be ahead in the poll.

As you are all aware, Greyson and Johnson have "Teamed Up" to try and discredit Paul on the issue of abortion.

The joint press release can be viewed on the "interesting blog" found on digg.

They must be very concerned that Paul will win that they join forces to try and discredit Rand on this one issue.

GEAUX RON PAUL 2012.

I exchanged emails with Flaherty

and he said he had been contacted by some people...those of you following this race will know of the crowd (they are nuts!).

He basically didn't do all of his homework and just came up with Rand and Trey. Hed told me he would do another survey in about a month with ALL registered candidates--there are actually 6 Republicans on the ballot.

He also said he would contact me when the new one comes out, and I will post it here.

With the substantial lead this poll showed, I doubt there will be much of an impact.

Thanks for the update

Johnson's people were the one's concerned. They believe, based on a Feb 6 polling they lead Paul by 1%.

Also added that after the election, everyone was flocking to Johnson's table. LOL

To the pollster, I don't blame you if you don't include someone in low single digits.

When the new poll comes out, hopefully Paul gains on what was already polled.

GEAUX RON PAUL 2012.

I must say

I'm happy the story is getting more interest now than when I posted it two days ago:

New Hampshire and Ecuador

medina must envy paul

most of the aj crowd never liked rand over his gitmo stance so he never had to deal with those truther questions.

thank god!.......Keep the truther kooks away and he'll be all ri

ght!

Ron Paul'08

You have helped push Rand to the Mainline... Now on to the other

Rand Paul is all grown up and sailing free in Republican waters. We can now start focusing on our other less visible, but very principled Grass Roots candidates!

Let's help push the ships of Kokesh! Harris! and all the other David vs Goliath candidates!

Boris in Miami

"it is good for the establishment to adopt liberty ideology, but it is not good for those who have already adopted liberty to fall to the feet of the establishment." ~ Annica2

lol no

the aj crowd dropped out early in rand's campaign over his gitmo issue, and that proved a positive for him. don't get involved in anybody else's campaign or it'll end up like medina's.

Boris, weren't you kicked out

Boris, weren't you kicked out of the Santoro campaign for gross misconduct?

BumP: Good!

I hope Rand stays away from political trouble and physical harm.

good news!

Thanks Jive - I guess Sarah Palin's endorsement helped.

"How can we justify to the unemployed and underemployed in the United States the incredible cost of maintaining a global empire?" - Dr. Ron Paul

Rand already had a 19% lead...

...over Grayson before Sarah Palin endorsed him. She wasn't sticking her neck out in any way by endorsing him. I hope Rand realizes this when the establishment calls upon Palin to reign Rand back in with the expectation that Rand actually owes her favors.

the breakdown is interesting

for this poll. It is a very good breakdown by age, gender, etc. of people's feeligs toward Rand, Trey, Tea parties, etc.

I live and work in congressional district 6, where we are doing even better...54% Rand 17% Trey.

The Central KY C4L has been working very hard on this election since last May, and it is so nice to see our efforts are having a positive effect! Thanks to my compatriates in Liberty!

I hope this inspires people to know that hard work can pay off, even in politics.

Good news!

Wow this is very positive for all those right now thinking should they come forward and get into these races too and add their voices to these voices and soon these voices will be coming from all over the place.

Wake up now Americans, stand with the Constitution and take your places please!

Well, Michael Nystrom, what do you think, will you run?

OK... Kentucky...

... now get rid of McConnell. ASAP.

Plano TX

we have been trying

We tried in the last election. We followed him around to his campaign stops with a 12 foot banner that said "Bailouts and FISA are NOT conservative" and passed out flyers that said "Republicans to Ditch Mitch." We made car magnets with funny captions "Ditch Mitch the Bailout Bitch".

Our voter turnout wasn't really good. He didn't win by a landslide, but sorry folks for the six more years.

My biggest disappointment of 2008 was seeing McConnell go back, right after his participation in the bailouts. It has given me very little reason to have much faith in KY Republicans.

Good to hear

Keep the ball rolling!

Great job Kentucky!

No resistance

There are no MSM hit pieces, no negative articles, no distortions of rand's positions. Compare that to Texas, where Rick Perry is being positioned for a Presidential run.

there are problems here alright

but I'm not gonna post them and spread them. I hope that you have been searching and not finding them. That is good news!

Thanks Jive

.

Go Rand.
