Fortress America: The Largest Most Expensive Embassy in the World
Submitted by We the People on Thu, 02/25/2010 - 20:50
The largest embassy in the world, the size of Vatican City, sits in the middle of the desert of a poor country. 27 buildings, 104 acres, 5,500 employees and a cost of $2,000,000,000 per year.

After Iran, Iraq has the world's 4th largest oil reserves, projected to last over 100 years. Remember McCain saying he wouldn't mind if we stayed in Iraq for 100 years?
OIL or Al Qaeda?

Taxpayers are forced to fund the global agenda
of the large corporations, that need the protection of the US military. Not all of these large corporations are of US origin, probably about half. Of course the real goal is too generate money through controlled supplies and markets. Then, careful attention is given to be sure that the "politicians" who have enabled this are well greased. And then, we as the ultimate "funders" of this, are told it is for our own good. Living for greed usually has a bad outcome. They get away with it because of the ability to couterfeit money, and we have been dummied down to the point we think "OUR" Congressman is a good guy. Every other State has a bad guy. And the game goes on.

It seems to be all about the OIL & the DOLLAR
What would happen if we ran out of oil?
What would happen if oil was no longer sold in dollars?

In a free market, we won't run out of energy. The price may change and the generating source may change.

What was the real reason we
What was the real reason we attacked the Taliban in Afghanistan?
How convenient for the Bush/Cheney administration that 9/11 happened, because without it the American people would have thrown a hissy fit if they tried to go to war with Afghanistan.
Why not a mention of the following in the American media?
US policy on Taliban influenced by oil - authors
By Julio Godoy
PARIS - Under the influence of United States oil companies, the government of President George W Bush initially blocked intelligence agencies' investigations on terrorism while it bargained with the Taliban on the delivery of Osama bin Laden in exchange for political recognition and economic aid, two French intelligence analysts claim.
In the book Bin Laden, la verite interdite (Bin Laden, the forbidden truth), that was released recently, the authors, Jean-Charles Brisard and Guillaume Dasquie, reveal that the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) deputy director John O'Neill resigned in July in protest over the obstruction.
The authors claim that O'Neill told them that "the main obstacles to investigate Islamic terrorism were US oil corporate interests and the role played by Saudi Arabia in it". The two claim that the US government's main objective in Afghanistan was to consolidate the position of the Taliban regime to obtain access to the oil and gas reserves in Central Asia.
They affirm that until August, the US government saw the Taliban regime "as a source of stability in Central Asia that would enable the construction of an oil pipeline across Central Asia" from the rich oilfields in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, through Afghanistan and Pakistan, to the Indian Ocean. Until now, says the book, "the oil and gas reserves of Central Asia have been controlled by Russia. The Bush government wanted to change all that."
But, confronted with Taliban's refusal to accept US conditions, "this rationale of energy security changed into a military one", the authors claim.
"At one moment during the negotiations, the US representatives told the Taliban, 'either you accept our offer of a carpet of gold, or we bury you under a carpet of bombs,'" Brisard said in an interview in Paris.
According to the book, the Bush administratino began to negotiate with the Taliban immediately after coming into power in February. US and Taliban diplomatic representatives met several times in Washington, Berlin and Islamabad.
To polish their image in the United States, the Taliban even employed a US expert on public relations, Laila Helms. The authors claim that Helms is also an expert in the works of US intelligence organizations, for her uncle, Richard Helms, is a former director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The last meeting between US and Taliban representatives took place in August, five weeks before the attacks on New York and Washington, the analysts maintain. On that occasion, Christina Rocca, in charge of Central Asian affairs for the US government, met the Taliban ambassador to Pakistan in Islamabad.
Brisard and Dasquie have long experience in intelligence analysis. Brisard was until the late 1990s director of economic analysis and strategy for Vivendi, a French company. He also worked for French secret services, and wrote for them in 1997 a report on the now famous Al-Qaeda network, headed by bin Laden.
Dasquie is an investigative journalist and publisher of Intelligence Online, a respected newsletter on diplomacy, economic analysis and strategy, available through the Internet.
Brisard and Dasquie draw a portrait of the closest aides to Bush, linking them to the oil business. Bush's family has a strong oil background, as do some of his top aides. From Vice President Dick Cheney, through the director of the National Security Council Condoleezza Rice, to the ministers of commerce and energy, Donald Evans and Stanley Abraham, all have for long worked for US oil companies.
Cheney was until the end of last year president of Halliburton, a company that provides services for oil industry; Rice was between 1991 and 2000 manager for Chevron; Evans and Abraham worked for Tom Brown, another oil giant.

"...the US government saw the
"...the US government saw the Taliban regime "as a source of stability in Central Asia...."
If this is an accurate description, the government's incompetence truly knows no bounds.....
In Michael Ruppert's book, 'Crossing The Rubicon' pub. 2003,
Michael reported that conveniently, John O'Neil was killed in the Twin Towers that fateful morning.
He wrote about how John, being deputy director of FBI, resigned after being outraged with the obstruction to all his investigations linking our government with oil interests in the middle and far east, especially the pipeline that were guaranteed protected by oil puppets in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhistan.
So ya, he had to go being a thorn in Cheney's side.
Our troops are the security guards protecting oil interests by suppressing the people's natural inclination to rise up against invasion of their country.
9/11 became the gift that kept on giving.
BTW, something tells me these French guys ripped off work already done by Michael Ruppert. I hope they give him credit since it was he who risked his neck for this information, not them.
I thought we went after the Taliban
because they were cracking down on farmers who grow opium poppies.
This is truly disgusting.
This is truly disgusting. Americans are losing their jobs, their homes. Many old people who worked all their life and now depend on Social Security to survive are being made to feel they on the dole, because they are receiving what they and their employers contributed for many, many years.
We keep hearing how social security is or will be the biggest drain on our economy. Well maybe it wouldn't be if the government didn't issue IOU's every time they raided those Social security funds to pay for projects like this.
How many jobs could be created with the money that is being spent on this monstrosity? How social security checks would this money cover?
Maybe if our elected politicians stopped helping their oil buddies, they just might be able to balance the budget
Social Security Program: Bad No Matter What
People do not receive money that they paid into Social Security. The money they pay in is a fraction of what they receive on average. Social Security is a wealth transfer program (like all pyramid schemes) that takes money from workers currently working and transfers it to retired workers. This leaves current workers less able to care for themselves and save for there own retirement. Social Security also acts as a slush fund of money that the US government uses to fund programs of global expansionism and war that make the whole society less well off and less safe.

Our world resources are the key....
as well as those that have the power to control them...
Complain all you want. You'll pay for it anyway.
Complain all you want, you know that you don't have the balls to stop paying for it.
Now be a good little slave and pay your taxes.
.
And your answer to the problem is....
?
~Live life to its fullest, with an open heart, open arms and most important... an open mind~
The only solution is to stop paying for it.
If I were the one extorting money from you, I wouldn't give a rat's ass what you said, how or where you said it, or how many phone calls you made to me. So long as you kept on paying you could be 'free' to complain all you wanted.
Now if you stopped paying, that'd be another matter all together. Why do you suppose it is that government people like to make examples out of those who stand in defiance to them on the subject of paying taxes? As an example to everyone else... PAY UP, OR ELSE! Is that how individual liberties are protected? By extortion?
The Fed can generate 100% tax or more, instantly on computers.
With 100% reliability.
Even if every single person stopped paying their taxes, wouldn't the Fed continue to be used to tax through inflation?
The Fed is a tax collector that doesn't even have to collect.
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
Taxation via inflation of the money supply wouldn't work...
Taxation via inflation of the money supply wouldn't work without the force of government behind legal tender and currency laws.
But inflation is working.
And the force is there.
So if everyone stopped paying their taxes how would that solve anything? It would just given an excuse to put anyone in jail that the government wanted to.

How old is this report?
This can't be recent.
"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."
-Alexis de Tocqueville
It's not recent because now
the most expensive embassy is in London.

Colchester, New London County, Connecticut
Actually, the one in Iraq is much larger and more expensive.
I'm not sure we're being given the final overall costs or numbers.
The video I posted was released before the embassy was complete in 2006. It actually did not end up being finished until 2009 because more building and expenses were added in the past 3 years, but they are still using the old $700 million number from 2006. The operating costs for one year are more than the building costs anyway.
But what are we doing with either embassies?
And where will the next one be?
Ron Paul's Convention Speech
It's still there.
MSNBC was using this to play partisan politics in 2006 and attack Bush. They would never run something like this with Obama in office. In fact, they changed the original link, which caused all previous links to the article to go dead. A little searching was necessary. I thought it would be nice to dig back up though, especially with Ron Paul questioning Hillary Clinton on this very thing yesterday - see the Daily Paul front page.
This report came out right when the compound was being finished in 2006. But, I can assure you, the compound is still there, and so are our bases and troops. It eventually opened in January of 2009, I wonder how much more it cost to finish, because the numbers being given out are still the same or lower!

What are you fightin' for?
Caught in the middle?
Freedom is only for those with the guts to defend it!
What? No moat filled with oil?
This place is about as sick as it gets.
Hopefully, it has already been wired.
Just where the damn button is is anyone's guess.
Is this not a huge target for a terrorist attack?
Grrrr!
