CPAC sells out propaganda piece

California Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) chairman Ryan Sorba generated a media controversy when he was shown at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) denouncing the organizers for inviting a homosexual Republican group, GOProud, into the event as an official sponsor. In “controversial” remarks, Sorba said homosexuality was unnatural and that he welcomed more debate and discussion about the subject from his political adversaries.

But what many people don’t realize is that Sorba’s “outburst” was provoked by a speaker who preceded him, Alexander McCobin of Students For Liberty (SFL). McCobin went out of his way to use valuable time from the podium to thank the American Conservative Union, the main CPAC organizer, for making the controversial decision to approve GOProud’s participation.

David Keene, a lobbyist, is the chairman of the ACU and personally approved GOProud’s involvement in CPAC.

To be determined by the states

I read this article and it talks about Jefferson wanting laws to punish homosexual acts. The Fourth Amendment protects the individual's right to privacy. However, in citing Jefferson, the laws talked about were state laws that he proposed. I think it is not the place of any branch of the federal government to make such laws for or against such activities, but do think that states and local municipalities do have the right to create laws and ordinances that address immoral behavior in public. Thes laws and ordinances can be created and still protect the privacy of individuals without infringing on the guaranteed rights protected by the Fourth Amendment. The feds make a lot of laws and court decisions on matters that really they have no place. The U.S. is a republic in which states have the greatest powers.

I was unaware that Soros has donated to Cato.

Given his tendency to back socialist causes I am somewhat surprised, assuming it's true that is.

I attempted to interest Soros in a political candidate I was working for once. That was before he became such a backer of socialist causes.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Mr Sorba and the person writing this article....

have some definite "issues" that they need to deal with. They also see their base getting smaller and smaller. Their hysterical pitch says much to me about their desperation. It is a painful thing to watch.

Thomas Jefferson: “Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."
