JIM BUNNING PULLS A RON PAUL and NEEDS OUR MORAL SUPPORT...

Senator Bunning is fighting the good fight LITERALLY ALL BY HIMSELF. Just as Dr. Paul has done for decades.

Bunning has taken a brave stand against the extension of federal unemployment benefits (WHICH COME FROM THE TAXPAYER--NOT EMPLOYER INSURANCE POOLS).

This bill would simply be added to the federal debt.

He is taking a LOT OF HEAT--EVEN FROM HIS FELLOW REPUBLICANS. No surprise there I guess.

Rand Paul is running for Bunning's Senate seat in Kentucky as Bunning is stepping down.

Bunning has not been correct on all the issues in the past, but this is a chance to send the government A BIG MESSAGE.

Call or email him with a few words of support here...

My hubby just read this over my shoulder and has a great idea...

His comment was "Why don't we just bring our troops home, and save 100 billion a month? Sounds like a plan to me, what do you all think?

Excellent idea.

I'm with you.

Wow...only one in agreement with that?

I surely thought there would be more. Thank you Lao Tzua

Put your idea on another

thread I don't like this thread comparing that con Bunning with Dr. Paul.

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

To the naysayers:

I completely understand the point about Bunning being an obvious hypocrite, and for that he rightfully deserves your condemnation.

But here is my question to you:

As I understand it, this bill extends benefits to some people for 30 more days for a cost of approximately 10 billion dollars. People here are saying that they would like to see these benefits go to the people and hope that it helps them out, and I understand your compassion. But what will you say next month when they ask for another 10 billion?

If the situation doesn't get any better, and all of these people are still unemployed next month, and in the exact same position as they are now, should we keep the party going for another month? What if more people's benefits run out, and they now need 20 billion to continue extending the benefits?

What's the big message?

"Only the super-rich get our money"?
As a taxpayer, I'd much rather the money go to unemployed people than bombs and bankers. Not that I agree with the socialist context the whole thing's in, but given the system as is, I think Bunning's just a total a-hole.

He is an A-Hole...

that is for sure MikeLawson, we must all remember he is a war-mongering one too. Maybe I should slip him a little letter and tell him he needs to bring our troops home, and start supporting the folks here at home, and stop chasing after ghosts in the desert.

I feel the same way.

.

too many downside

while any spending is harmful by the government, it's really peanuts compared to the education and health care spending, drug war, military intervention and subsidies for illegal immigrant.. any one of those category. instead of starting on those, bunning is picking one of the least important target and attacking the most desperate people. he certainly looks bad in this, and well, he's not running for re-election. i'm not questioning his morale as i'm not interested in those debates, but this spending is really just a sideshow and if the truther issue hasn't taught us, we need to focus our energy on the most important issues that are achievable. not to mention this is just plain bad politics.

I was fortunate to attend private schooling as a child...

and I will tell you, I run into people that attended the public school system that are the dumbest people, not sure if it was the schooling, or the parents. Honestly, I think it is the parents that do not participate in their children's education. The reason I say that is because my hubby attended public school, and he is as smart as they come, and it was because of his parents hard work, and not because of the public school system. The school system in California sucks, and the kids really do not care if they even graduate unless they have parents that push them, and help them.

You two are not

alone..

Mathew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

I'm not giving moral support

unless I know someone is moral. And as RP says, the two weakest arguments on the floor of the Congress are morality and constitutionality.
Does this man vote for war authorizations and war spending? Does this man vote for TARP payouts in the trillions?

Lao Tzua...

You, and I are on the same path that I believe brought us to Ron Paul. Do you agree?

Is this the Jobs bill?

This isn't the jobs bill that renews that Patriot Act, is it? I thought that was already renewed for a year.

According

to Politico.com, Bunning backed down now...

Not really a back-down.

He's getting what he wanted, in the form of an Amendment.

For it to be paid for.

I hope and pray that more elected officials start doing this.

There only 2 ways to pay for

There only 2 ways to pay for it, reduce spending (we know that's not happening) or raise taxes, and being an election year, that's not happening either.

So where will they go from here?

I hate to be cynical...

...but I wonder if Grayson will jst come along and claim that he would do exactly the same thing...claiming to be in the line of Bunning.

Just a thought.

I sent him

a thank you note and asked him to please take this stand on every piece of legeslation that comes through. I really hope he just doesn't give a crap and tries to grind the senate a stop.

Can't believe how so many people on this post are for the welfare/warfare state...

Don't put Ron Paul's name next to Bunnings

I just googled bunning and one fo the first things on the list is:

JIM BUNNING PULLS A RON PAUL and NEEDS OUR MORAL SUPPORT...

Get the ^&%$ outa here.

What a joke..

take a stand on a 10 billion dollar spending bill thats actually helping taxpayers who lost their jobs at no fault of theirs but then ignore the Trillons spent on war. Fuck Bunning.

The Democrats knew

that unemployment and health care would unbind any consensus among conservatives as the number of unemployed rise. Even the Tea Parties have backed off these two issues.

I'm all about principles

but there are a zillion better places to "make your stand" than this one. People aren't going to see the point he's making, just that it's yet another screw to the working people of America. He should "make his stand" in voting against Congressional pay raises and donate his ridiculous income to the unemployed. Just who does he think PAID for his senatorial elevator??

Really?

Jim Bunning needs our moral support? I'll get right on that - NOT!

Jim Bunning Sucks!!

Bunning is totally wrong, and has only just made a fool out of himself. How could anyone possibly root for the denial of critical unemployment benefits?

Unemployment is at well over 10%. That means that literally Millions of Americans have now been made dirt broke (through no fault of their own)... they've got nothing. These people have no jobs, no paychecks, no income, no way to even feed themselves anymore, in many cases...much less pay their rent or mortage.

And if you think that you can just go out and find a job in this depressed and hollowed-out Economy at the drop of a hat, you're nuts. It ain't happening.

I hate it when rich people think that life is so damn easy, and all the poor people out there just must be lazy. A lot of people have no choices and no options here. And there are no personal savings anymore to be found when Banks pay out 0.25% interest (and then charge 30% interest for credit cards). Are you on the side of the Bankers?

Wake-up! Unemployment benefits are an absolute life saver for most people. The reason that we have so many homeless people in our Country, is because in America there are too few protections for the little guy, not too many.

It's the Big Monopolies, Corporations, and War Establishment that you need to cut benefits from.

Bunning sucks!

What?!

You said,

"That means that literally Millions of Americans have now been made dirt broke (through no fault of their own)... they've got nothing."

Not true. It IS their fault. How could it be anyone else's? Around here in Michigan, those people have cottages, boats, motorcycles, nice furniture, and snowmobiles stored in houses that are too big. They have all kinds of benefits like Social Security benefits, free education, medicare, medicaid, and a whole ton of state and federal programs to fall back on. They have debt up to their eyeballs because they believed that they would be part of the American dream ponzi scheme forever. They watched TV while I worked multiple jobs to get out of debt. They bought toys. I bought tools. They took trips. I took working vacations. They bought new cars while I drove their used ones. They bought cheap imports while I watched factories shut down all around me.

I don't have any of those things. But you want me to pay for more unemployment benefits for them? How much more do I have to pay for their bad decisions?

Please keep in mind that when my taxes go up, I will have to give up more business to my competitors overseas because my costs are going to go up. This usually leads to fewer sales and my payroll is already 2 people too big. If my costs go up enough, I will close my business to avoid losing money, in which case 20 more people will be out of work.

Forgive me for wanting to keep what I have worked so hard to acquire and achieve.

Now please tell me how much more I should be taxed to support these people.

NONSENSE...

You want to talk about Michigan?? Geesh..just one look at Detroit is all you need pal. It looks like a third world Country.

It's the damn Corporations that have outsourced the jobs, relocated the manufacturing facilities abroad, hollowed out the Country, laid the workers off, stolen their pensions, taken away their jobs, left them with nothing...and you want to blame the workers?? Are you nuts?

And since when is college education free?? What planet are you living on?

The working people in this Country are completely and systematically screwed in this Country -- if they're even lucky enough to even still have a job.

Rich primadonnas like you have no clue what it is like for ordinary, average folks in this Country. The middle class is getting wiped out ... wiped out clean.

If you really cared about debt, you'd be howling about the Trillion Dollars wasted away for Bank Bailouts and the crooked Wars -- not about helping poor people simply stay alive in this horribly depressed Economy, that the wealthy elites like you helped create.

A rebuttal, mine in italic

You want to talk about Michigan?? Geesh..just one look at Detroit is all you need pal. It looks like a third world Country.

It looks like a third world country because socialist policies like those you advocate drove most of the businesses from there. By the way, what make of car do you drive?

It's the damn Corporations that have outsourced the jobs, relocated the manufacturing facilities abroad, hollowed out the Country, laid the workers off, stolen their pensions, taken away their jobs, left them with nothing...and you want to blame the workers?? Are you nuts?

The workers stood idle while the bankers took over the corporations, outsourced their jobs, and moved factories. Instead of reversing the errors of NAFTA the workers clamor for more handouts to make up for the lost income. The workers blame their problems on corporate profits and raise business taxes. Corporations move to avoid taxes while local businesses suffer. The rich never get taxed, just the middle class, until it is gone. And yes, according to the mainstream media, I am nuts.

And since when is college education free?? What planet are you living on?
Who said anything about college education? Earth.

The working people in this Country are completely and systematically screwed in this Country -- if they're even lucky enough to even still have a job.

Agreed. I hope they all wake up before the banks deprive them of all their property and leave their children homeless on the continent their grandfathers conquered. One way to keep them from waking up is to send them checks on a regular basis

Rich primadonnas like you have no clue what it is like for ordinary, average folks in this Country. The middle class is getting wiped out ... wiped out clean.

LOL. I live in a 2200 sq ft house built in 1949. I drive a used compact car made by GM (my last one ever). My boat is a canoe. We will get wiped out unless we embrace liberty and personal responsibility once again.

If you really cared about debt, you'd be howling about the Trillion Dollars wasted away for Bank Bailouts and the crooked Wars -- not about helping poor people simply stay alive in this horribly depressed Economy, that the wealthy elites like you helped create.

I have been howling about the banking conspiracy since 1995. I have been telling everyone I care about of the coming crash for the last two years. They think I'm nuts and call me the fool. They voted for either Obama or McCain. They support the wars, not me.

For what it's worth, I would cancel these social programs last, but they must be cancelled none the less.
