A reply for those who vote according to the polls.
Submitted by Steele on Tue, 03/02/2010 - 17:55I've decided to have some cards made up that I will give out to anyone whose argument is, "but he/she can't win" or "the polls say he/she can't win" or "I don't want to waste my vote."
I've simplified to reach the type of person who thinks this way.

Why you vote
(a short story)
One election year three citizens, Dave, Jim and Sue, ran for the office of Senator. Dave’s belief was that every citizen should give up their right arm for the betterment of all. Dave is running 44% in the polls. Jim believes it’s necessary to give up your left leg because the right arm isn’t going to solve all problems. Jim is running 33% in the polls. Sue believes the government has no right to demand an arm or leg from its citizens. That’s insane talk. Sue is running 20% in the polls.
If you believe the polls, then you must also believe you are living in an insane world as no one would willingly vote to have the government remove their limbs. So, do you vote to keep your arms and legs or do you vote for insanity because the polls say insanity can win?
That’s how important real world voting is.
