Maybe this is why the Free State Project hasn't really taken offSubmitted by havaprayer on Wed, 03/03/2010 - 20:22
This study showed that, with the exception of Vermont, New Hampshire is the least religious state in the U.S. While we are certainly not trying to create a theocracy in the Free State Movement, a belief in divine truths and God-given rights was the glue that held the words of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence together. If God isn't put in charge of your daily affairs, it's a lot easier to let the government take over instead.
I'm thinking that maybe a state like Oklahoma (8th most religious) would have been a better Free State choice in this regard. Texas might be good too but due to its size, it would be hard to make a dent in it as a percent of the population. Huckabee kind of scares me away from the deep Bible Belt states.
