Frank Asks Bernanke to Probe Fed on Watergate, Iraq

March 3 (Bloomberg) -- House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank asked Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke to investigate allegations of Fed involvement in the Watergate scandal and Iraqi weapons purchases in the 1970s and 1980s.

Frank, 69, said the Fed must address the charges because “continued concern about political interference” with the Fed and “allegations about a lack of transparency.” Bernanke and other Fed officials are trying to fend off a measure offered by Paul, which passed the House in December, that would open the Fed to audits of interest-rate decisions.

“These specific allegations you’ve made I think are absolutely bizarre, and I have absolutely no knowledge of anything remotely like what you just described,” Bernanke told Paul, a Texas Republican who wrote the 2009 book “End the Fed,” during last week’s hearing.

this is a joke.. he's diverting attention away from his own law breaking within the last 5 years and digging up olp old skeletons that are kindergarten play compared to the looting of the treasury that took place in 2008 under his watch. Wake up folks, if you think this is good your crazy.

Actually, you can't even do more than a cursory arithmetical audit of the Fed, legally. This is the whole point of Dr. Paul's legislation to Audit the Fed. Even with that legislation, I am not sure how much above the law they might otherwise be. Can they be investigated criminally?

The FED has to be weakened if not destroyed before we can have the One World Currency, no? To me this means that structure to take over the monetary system is pretty much in place.

The good doctor doesn't ask a question without knowing the answer.

Even though he had to bear the ignominy of being laughed at in committee, he has gotten the word out on Fed shenanigans into mainstream publications like BusinessWeek.

I can't think of a more "stick-to-the-facts" and establishment magazine than BusinessWeek.
