You know
when Dr. Paul is asked by the pundits if he is going to run for President again he always says, "I haven't given it much thought". Well, after re-reading the article, I am thrilled that he has given it so little thought. Can you imagine what his Presidential Manifesto would be if he really gave it some serious thought!!!

The one place that causes me pause with Paul is foreign policy.
I dont think America needs to completely remove itself from the world stage. If we withdrew from Korea, would it cause an attack from North Korea? Do any of our bases keep other countries in check, like China? If we shut our bases would another power use that to 'swoop in'?
My entire family was military. This is the only area that worries me about Paul. If America just came home, other countries may take advantage of it and cause more human suffering. Like it or not, American bases keep tyrants and commie governments in check. Look at the saber rattling over Taiwan for instance.
That does not mean I support a neo-conservative position in the middle east. We should just leave. Those countries have been fighting since the dawn of human civilization and shall never stop.
We could drastically reduce our imprint and still serve our national security and preserve peace for other nations without bringing all of our troops home.

It is not our duty, right or responsibility to
safeguard the national interests of other countries, even if we are there now because we intervened in their business when we never should have. Doing so does not serve OUR national security as it causes hatreds, tensions, and entangling alignments for us. We should "just come home".

but we are there. Im not defending what has been done, or trying to defend an empire that provokes more enemies.
Im also not looking at the world with my head in the sand.
Realistically, if we 'just come home' may cause a power vacuum. Thats all Im trying to get across. Its a very slippery slope that could cause alot of harm. Ive been involved with RP since the debate where Rudy and Paul got into it. Having been raised in a military home and around military my entire life I can see where the hardliners arguments are.

We may be there now,
but we will come home one way or another, either willingly and with grace, or because we can no longer maintain the lie. When we are gone people in those countries will carry on and if they want liberty enough they will fight for it. Frankly, at this point in time most people probably just want us the hell out of their country.

Ron forgot the biggest tool to right this ship
the power to pardon.
If I were president I would pardon anyone who decided not to file income taxes. And direct the Sec of Treasury to allow zero withholding if people chose. Bam, no more income tax except for those that want to pay.
Also, compile list of other laws and programs people are forced to comply and make it a policy to accept any pardon applications for not following or participating.
Boom, who the hell needs Congress to make things happen.
Nobody can deny or do anything about the power to pardon. It is exclusive to the president to wield as he sees fit. Take that tyrants.

IMHO it appears to me that Dr. Paul has taken the posture of no-holes-barred. If he is not or can not run, he'll be going out in a blaze of glory and let it all hang out...all the corruption that he could NOT speak about, etc. He's not lighting fires of freedom, he's torching the place!
