C4L Snaps Up 800 Tickets for Southern Republican Leadership Conference

0 votes

I've seen posts on here that Ron Paul was planning to speak at the SRL but this is the first independent information I have seen. Previously when I checked the SRL it didn't even have him down as a speaker. Palin and others are going and have had their organization in place for a long time.

Will Ron Paul win this thing?

Maybe They Didn't Wait

Another forum put forth the speculation that perhaps they didn't wait to invite him. Perhaps he waited to accept. Maybe there was the potential for a scheduling conflict, or maybe he was reluctant to appear because it is such a den of overtly hostile neo-conservatives.

Since they waited so late to invite Dr Paul

I'm assuming they are planning to re release that "email" to explain his win.

If this were real, then why

If this were real, then why haven't we heard anything more about it from C4L? The clock is ticking.

Ditto

I just checked their site and NOTHING!

Would they try to keep something like this secret so the other side didn't employ countermeasures? If so, then they'd have to be using means other than the C4L Web site to find takers for the tickets.

New Hampshire and Ecuador

I understand your confusion...

Please see my comments below concerning David Weigel.

I called C4L to ask about it.

I called C4L to ask about it. They said that the details were still being worked out. I said "so you think it's correct that C4L has tickets, but they are just figuring out how to handle it?" She said, "yes, that's right."

So, it seems like a confirmation to me. I guess we'll see.

Thanks.

It needs to be official soon if we are going to do it well -- even if it is just a post on C4L saying 'Look forward to the event! Details coming!'

I mean, I guess it is something to say 'we only had a couple weeks' notice' but how many papers will print that if RP doesn't win or do very well in the poll?

There must be some issue that

There must be some issue that they're trying to work out. Maybe it's not a sure thing. Why else would they keep waiting? If it's not done this week it's probably a no-go I'd say.

That is SPECTACULAR! Is it official? Money bomb sites

had donations go through the official campaign site via link or reference. I would suggest we have donations actually go through a chip in or through one of the affiliated C4L or YAL sites, but this is a really excellent site!!

The site looks great, but I'd

be hesitant to sign up with anyone other than the C4L or affiliated sites -- as you were saying.

I remember before the Rally For The Republic event there was an independant site collecting contact info for those who were planning on going. After collecting a few thousand names the site closed down and the individual could not be reached. The C4L had to start over with their own list for those who were planning on attending.

Anyway, just saying...

I don't want to take anything away from the nice layout of the site and the work that was put into it.

Does not handle any money/registrations...

It only sends information by email.

Thanks, I'll sign in as soon as I see some confirmation he'll be

there.

People should remember though that Huckabee, Pawlenty and Palin are going. In fact there was a big splash about how Palin is attending this and not CPAC -- I am sure her supporters already plan to be there in force. Even if any blocks of tickets she and others bought didn't have Weasel broadcasting them. I wouldn't get our hearts set on Ron Paul winning, with him signing up less than a month in advance of a well sold event.

Having said that, I'll sponsor someone's ticket....

We've got a month

That's plenty of time for RP supporters. We've got the passion. None of the others have it. We can prevail.

I withdraw my pessimism!!

!!!

Wow, that was easy!!

See, you just can't keep an RP fan down, no matter what you throw at him.

How Events Are Funded

Many of these type of events are funded by selling tickets to candidates or other sponsors who have money. Anyone who steps up and buys such tickets becomes a hero to the event for making it more affordable for attendees.

I have not read the above linked article, so maybe I'm missing something, but what's the problem?

The tickets may be re-sold, re-sold at a discount, and/or given away. I don't see any problem, here; it isn't a secret that this is how it's done, and straw polls are not accurate polls of anything but those in attendance.

IMissLiberty

David Weigel is a shill...

for the anti-liberty, political establishment.

Anything coming from his mouth, pen, or website should be considered propaganda until proven otherwise.

He was on NPR's "Fresh Air" trying to spin the CPAC straw poll as a fluke and Ron Paul's supporters as fringe kooks and conspiracy loonies almost before the results were in.

This guy pretending to be a an objective journalist is a huge joke.

He is just trying to set up grounds to discount any apparent support for Ron Paul at SRLC.

You can see his strategy coming from a mile away.

This is what I posted about their fake article at SRLC

Writing as a Ron Paul supporter, a member of campaign for liberty, and having attended CPAC and other related events I can attest that this email is patently a fake.

Emails are never sent for your eyes only and would never end every sentence with an exclamation point! Plus the syntax is not correct, and Dr. Paul's organization does not operate this way, period.

Adult beverages..woo hoo!!!!

Nice try.

How about learning something about the man or examining his voting record? You'll soon understand that ballot stuffing is not necessary. Freedom is popular. Liberty is hot.

Sometimes C4L uses a lot of exclamation points. RP doesn't

but C4L can.

I don't know if it is fake or not, but he still isn't listed at the web site. I'm not sure I'd want to take a position as a member of C4L until I knew what was going on. If it is fake, Monday is time enough for them to say so. If it is REAL we need to get to work.

It IS a fake...

and is only going to be used to marginalize any support for Ron Paul.

Weigel is NOT a journalist, he IS a propagandist.

The link didn't work for me...

For those of you who want to go, but are broke, I would suggest the following: Find a publication you can freelance for, then get press credentials for the conference. It's always great going to these things as press. You can roam with greater freedom, usually get free hospitality, and have a good reason to go up to personalities & ask questions. Best yet, is that you can go home & write the news from your viewpoint. If you can't find a publication to let you represent them, start you own on-line pub., or news on youtube. Give it a legit sounding name. Might work.

I think we should start a chip in when we know what C4L is doing

I have to be in San Francisco then, but I'd chip in so someone else could go.

THIS MUST GO VIRAL AND SOON !!

i changed the title

cuz it needed to be changed.

Ron Paul is My President

Yeah, it did. I just quoted the article

but a bozo wrote the article.

The GOP

will pull out all the stops on this one.

CPAC caught them off-guard.

They are not about to let it happen again.

Its going to get interesting.

If Ron Paul does pull it off, it will be HUGE news.

Maybe this is a stupid question but

How can they be sure that those tickets will get to RP supporters? Once the word gets out, wouldn't everyone be able to just buy their tickets from Campaign 4 Liberty? I guess we're counting on the fact that we're the only internet freaks that would figure that out. LOL!!!

Yeah, I wondered about that, now that it has been published

I think the email was supposed to be private according to the 'keep this between us' language quoted. Mind you, I have seen nothing from C4L at all, and RP still isn't on the speaker list. It is a puzzlement.

Hmmm no name or headers in that email

Could be just made up or even sent out by the Washington Independent. Without the headers showing it's just garbage.
