The "Secret" Knowledge of the Ages Revealed
Usury has been a cruel means of slavery through the ages and it enslaves us today. This is the “secret” knowledge of the ages that is often referred to in cryptic terms.
It all comes down to how and who issues the money. It always has. The species of currency is at best, a secondary issue that is often used to obscure the truth. David Astle explained this in "The Babylonian Woe" and I urge anyone interested in freedom and economics to read this book (available for free online, special thanks to yamaguchy for making this information available, we know him as "789").
Here is an excerpt:
“History over these last three thousand years particularly, has largely been the interweaving of both a witting, and an unwitting distortion of the truth, with all the inevitable consequences which have been expected and now are but a little way ahead. Kings largely became the mouthpiece and sword arm of those semi-secret societies that controlled the material of money as its outward and visible symbols came to be restricted to gold, silver, and copper…
The fiat of the god in heaven which had been the decisive force behind that which brought about an equitable exchange, was replaced by the will of those classes controlling the undertones of civilization, leaders of the world of slave drivers, caravaneers, outcasts, and criminals generally, such as was to be discerned on the edges of the ancient city civilizations, and followed the trade routes between them…
The instrument of this will was precious metal, whose supply was controlled by the leaders of these classes through their control of the slave trade, since mining was rarely profitable in the case of the precious metals, except with slave labour, even after the development of hardened iron tools and efficient methods of smelting.
The power of these men, indifferent and alien to most cities as they were, relative to that power it was replacing, which was the will of the benevolent god of the city, had been made absolute by sowing in the minds of men over the thousands of years, the idea of such metals having a specially high value relative to other goods and services being offered for exchange; indeed that they were veritable store house of value.
The law of the ruler previously exercised towards the well being of the people in that they might live a good and honourable life accordingly became corrupted. It became merely a symbol raised before their gaze, in order that they might not look down and see the evil gnawing away at the roots of the Tree of Life itself, destroying all peace and goodness.
Nor could those semi-secret groups of persons be seen who so often were the sources of such evil. In their contemptuous indifference to the men of the state who found meaningfulness and tranquility through life lived in natural order under the law of the King, they constituted hidden force deeply inimical to the best interests of mankind.”
Mankind has been living in the financial dark ages for literally thousands of years under various forms of feudalism. Communism, fascism, naziism, monopoly capitalism and socialism are just variations of feudalism. The money power always rules supreme though it may be hidden behind the facade of monarchy, dictatorship or even a pretended representative government.
This knowledge can literally set us free if we understand and apply it to our current circumstance. We must take back our power to issue and control our own money from the private banks that rule us. If there is to be a revolution, it will really be an awakening.

Turmel: Babylonian Woe book report
Jct: The greatest book on usury banking in antiquity ever written! It was one of my major book reports http://johnturmel.com/babyl00.htm with commentary. It was an incredible eye-opener. I met Mr. Astle in 1992 and not only was I saddened by his death, but was mortified at his library being destroyed.
modern day usury has more to do with,
someone living off of the labor of others..Most usury today provides an excessive lifestyle that those persons doing the laboring cannot afford..

Thanks for adding such a wonderful resource to the Internet. Everyone interested in freedom, economics and history should bookmark Yamaguchy.
It is amazing how much we as a society have forgot which is no doubt why we are not progressing.
When you go back a few steps in history you begin to see that not much has been added to our knowledge base. Instead we get many authors copying and spinning the same themes over and over.
Perhaps the most ludicrous spin is done by goldbugs who use history in trying to build their case when in actuality, accurate history tells us that gold is NOT a good material for money.

Usury
Usury is a word meaning the rental of money.
If I own ten acres and rent it to a farmer for him to grow his crops, he pays me my rent out of the price for his crops, and we both win. If he has a crop failure, he is in financial trouble because of his debt, if I agree to postpone the rent until harvest. If I insist on rent in advance, he still loses, but at least is not in debt. Also, if I insist on payment in advance, I limit the number of persons eligible to rent to those with savings. Under that limitation, it is harder and takes longer for a man to become a farmer.
Similarly, if I do not own land, but have savings, and I lend to a man so he can rent land to grow his crops, the only difference is that I am limiting myself only to those who have not saved. I am therefore taking a greater risk, but the farmer at least has a chance to make an income. Of course, if his crop fails, he will be in debt to me.
Either way there is risk. Renting land and renting money are equivalent IF the paying the rent is postponed until harvest. So the only basis for declaring usury an evil is to deny all credit everywhere and to everyone. Such a system is possible, and would indeed eliminate the slavery of indebtedness.
The remaining question is how and when such a radical social change could be instituted. The only thing I can say is that each one of us has the option of trying to live debt-free. It could work for many people until some tragedy such as a major accident or cancer puts us in a situation where we have a choice between life and debt. (no pun intended)
Usury Clarification
If you "lend" money to someone else, you are taking risk and may be inconvenienced so it is logical that you should be compensated.
Banks don't lend their money, they create it on the spot based on your collateral and promise to pay. They add no backing or even a guarantee - they create money solely because they have a monopoly to do so. That is usury.
