Congress, Ariz. school district sues taxpayers to stop questions

A handful of taxpayers in a small community north of Wickenburg, Arizona are being targeted by the local school district in a lawsuit that asks a judge to declare they have no right to request public records, sue the district, or complain to outside agencies.

I expected a complaint like this eventually

Eventually, someone will (maybe in this case, maybe not) abuse the system to punish public agencies in the form of requesting an unreasonable amount of material. The problem with drawing lines for something being excessively burdensome (other than officials who think any request by us peons is burdensome) is that smaller agencies wouldn't hesitate to make that claim. Also, agencies would have little motivation to streamline records retrieval if the pay-off is they can make that claim someday.

I'm also a little worried somebody's going to request expenditure records for the purpose of stalking an ex who travels on business. (or some official wanting to discredit gov't transparency requirements will stage such a thing)

Hmmm!

Unless there's more to this than what is being stated, my initial reaction is, "Just who the H does this school district think it is? Taxpayers pay their wages, etc., no? Taxpayers have the right to know how their taxes are being used..."
