If we have
freedom of speech, don't we also have freedom not to speak? Show me the law.
But has anyone actually ever been fined
for not answering questions? Or is it just bluff?

Don't know about anyone else...

You should contact your U.S. Congress Critter's office - they
should be able to help you if you are harassed in any way. Mine did once.

I remember hearing something
I remember hearing something about a $5,000 fine. Don't recall where, though.

My understanding of the current law is that they will fine you $100 for non-compliance or $500 if you fill in fraudulent information.
The question is whether or not they can or will enforce it.
Do you sign the Census?
If you don't sign it, how can they do anything to you? How can they prove who filled it out for your home?
The fine for not complying with the Ag census used to be $50, and no one I know got fined for non-compliance.
i have never complied and
i have never complied and never will
