What better way to control the population, and make billions from cancer, diabetes, etc. than to deplete Iodine from society?

I know it's been discussed a few times here, but thought I'd rejuvenate the serious Iodine deficiency in America.

Have you ever struggled with your body weight? Tried diet after diet, and fat burning supplement after supplement? Ate everything
right, and exercised everyday, and still can't lose the weight? Do you have Hypothroidism? If you're not getting enough Iodine, you probably do.

There's a good chance, you're Iodine defficient.... DO NOT TAKE THAT STATEMENT LIGHTLY!

Did you know that Japanese women and men are among the healthiest (and leanest) in the world? Did you know that
Japanese women consume an average of 14 mgs of elemental iodine daily, in the form of "Kelp" and have the lowest prevalence of breast and reproductive cancers in the world?

The absense of Iodine in the body, is a promoter of cancer. Ever wonder why the
cancer rate in America is through the roof? Well, now you know! We as a nation are Iodine defiicient.

Iodines role in Health and Disease ... http://www.mbschachter.com/iodine.htm

This is a site that sells "Iodoral". Their tablets are 12.5mg each of Iodine/Iodide. The FDA recomendation for Iodine is only .150 micrograms a day. That's over
100 times "LESS" than we actually need for good Thyroid function. All the research I've done suggest, you should take in atleast 12-50 mg. miniumum, but there
is no way in hell we get that much in our daily diet (1 egg only has .27 micrograms) To get enough Iodine daily, you would have to eat almost 100 eggs. Iodized
table salt only has 400 micrograms of Iodine per teaspoon. We'd have to eat 50 teaspoons of Iodized salt a day just to get 20 mg. of Iodine. Is it safe to say, you're
not getting enough Iodine in your diet to support your Thryoid gland? .......... Me thinks so!

.... read the links too, and click on the other Iodoral links on the right side of the page. You can buy
the Iodoral directly from them, and they offer a help line as well.

No wonder America is so fat and out of shape, and riddled with Cancer. They've stopped supplying us with proper Iodine, and replaced it with Bromine and Fluoride.

The Thyroid absolutely must have sufficient Iodine to keep your metabolism reving on a daily basis. Without sufficient Iodine, you won't drop a pound, no matter
how hard you try.

They don't teach this stuff in medical school. Just like they don't teach colloidal silver kills all known viruses in less than 6 min. once it comes in contact
with it.

Why would the FDA, AMA, CDC, WHO, etc. set the Daily
Recommended Allowance for Iodine at at measly .150 micro

Could it be a trojan horse for causing mass death and disease?

To deplete a nations Iodine intake would be the easiest way to ensure plenty of disease, which means big money for BIG PHARMA, not counting population control.

From the research I've done, it looks like a simple daily
dose of at least 12.5 - 50 mg of Iodine a day would cure most disease, and more than likely prevent them all together.

heard it's a source of iodine
also a part of japanese diet

If you live near an ocean,

If you live near an ocean, you probably have enough iodine. You get plenty just from living near one. To tell if you are very deficient, take some regular (NOT for internal use) iodine, and put it on your skin. It should fade in color very gradually over about 48 hours. If it is gone in less than 24 hours, you are very deficient. It is best to take iodine slowly increasing it. In my opinion, milligrams of iodine is foolish. It is a trace mineral for us. You can gradually increase it until the cells get saturated, but then, to me, it is best to reduce the dose. If I get up there too much, my gall bladder tells me it is too much. LOL. Standard daily dosage is like 150 mcg. I got up to like 2g, but stick with about 250 mcg a day now and thyroid problems are over.

also you need selenium to assist in the assimilation of it..

if a person realizes they are deficient they need both iodine, and iodide and selenium. taking these over time will reverse the condition.

here is Lew Rockwell take on it

Unprecedented reliance on pharmaceutical medications.

Dr. Gabor Maté on ADHD, Bullying and the Destruction of American Childhood
A spike in diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other mental disorders has fueled an unprecedented reliance on pharmaceutical medications to treat children, with long-term effects that remain unknown. We speak with Canadian physician and bestselling author, Dr. Gabor Maté. He argues that these responses are treating surface symptoms as causes while ignoring deeper roots. Dr. Maté says children are in fact reacting to the broader collapse of the nurturing conditions needed for their healthy development. [includes rush transcript]

I'm experimenting

I've been eating ultra-healthy and taking every other supplement wisely - Cal-Mag (not mag oxide, worthless), high vit D, omega 3's, Vit C, taurine, green smoothies w/ greens I grew myself. Besides choline, I think I've hit everything else there is to hit but iodine.

Even with a healthy diet, at 7 mos. pregnant, my asthma is terrible. We even had the church come take carpeting out of our house on the off chance that was it.

Today, I started high iodine supplementation. We'll see. So far, so good, but I've had my moments of breathing room before.

Excellent post

I have heard that iodine was used in swimming pools before instead of chlorine and that chlorine neutralizes the iodine.

Is there any truth to this?

not really

your body uses chloride, bromide and iodide for different things.

"Take hold of the future or the future will take hold of you." -- Patrick Dixon

Our bodies do not need

Our bodies do not need bromide or chlorine at all...Iodine will help clear bromide and chloride (which are NOT a nutrients) out of our system.
Iodine is the only halide that is a nutrient. I take 100mgs of Iodoral daily with companion nutrients.
The best source of info on taking iodine is

Our bodies don't need chlorine??????

Don't you mean our bodies do not need bromine or fluorine?

Ever hear of hydrochloric acid (HCl)? It is necessary for digestion, and our bodies make it from hydrogen and chlorine. One of the principal ways our bodies fight infection is the white blood cells release of hypochlorite (NaClO) when they encounter pathogens, and we construct hypochlorite with chlorine. I would venture to say that we would die without consuming chlorine in some form since our bodies can't manufacture it, which is why salt (NaCl) is an important dietary requirement.

What we don't need is fluorine and bromine. There is no RDA for either of these while there is an RDA for chlorine and iodine, even though it is set way too low for iodine, and the commercial salt we get has dangerous additives (aluminum for one).

Fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine are in the same group in the periodic table of elements. What they have in common is that they only have 7 electrons in their outer electron orbit; this makes them highly reactive (electron hungry) which is why each can be used as a disinfectant. Fluorine is the smallest, followed by chlorine, bromine and iodine. The smaller, the more electronegative, which means that fluorine is the most dangerous and the most likely to attach to receptor sites in our cells. These four elements compete in our bodies to attach to the receptor site in cells where we need iodine to attach.

If we intake fluorine or bromine they drive iodine out of our bodies. Experiments as early as the mid 1800's showed that giving rats a fluorine compound drove iodine out of their bodies, resulting in goiter. Hyperthyroid can be caused by too much iodine, and in the past doctors successfully treated it by giving a fluorine compound that had the effect of driving iodine out of the thyroid, thus slowing down the production of thyroid hormones.

My question is why do some governments add fluorine compounds to our water supply? Why did the federal government require mattress manufacturers to add flame retardant compounds to mattresses and clothing manufacturers to add flame retardant compounds to some children's clothing, which flame retardant can contain bromine? Both fluorine and bromine are widely used and we cannot help but consume a large dose of each in our daily lives.

To give you an idea of how much iodine we need to intake just to compete with fluorine and bromine, here is an estimate of how much fluorine we might get a day. In a community where the water is "fluoridated" at 1 part per million (a common rate of fluoridation) this would add 3.78 milligrams to each gallon of water. Add in the fluorine in toothpaste and mouthwash, the fluorine released from cooking with teflon cookware, the fluorine you absorb from you skin when bathing or washing your hands or dishes, and the fluorine naturally occurring in tea, and you might be getting closer to 8 milligrams a day, enough to not only drive iodine out of your body, but enough over a 20 year period to give you severe skeletal fluorosis. Most of what is called osteoarthritis is really skeletal fluorosis.

I don't know how much bromine we get daily, but it is widely used to kill bacteria and keep food from spoiling. Some grocery stores spray it on fruits and vegetables to give them a longer shelf life.

So think how inadequate the 150 microgram RDA for iodine is. You would need somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 milligrams a day, just to offset the effect of the industrial pollutants, fluorine and bromine, that are generously supplied to you by businesses and insane government.

The list of diseases and maladies directly or indirectly from insufficient iodine is long. Hypothyroid, goiter, cretinism, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, fibroids, low IQ, ADHD, Type II diabetes, just to start the list. When you are missing something that every cell of your body needs, it is no wonder that we as a society are very unhealthy.

While there is a tremendous amount of info..in the thread..

and posted below... Thought that some real life stories of people who have benefited from this very needed trace mineral would get the message across to those of you (which is everyone!!) who have not yet gotten and taken this product....

It's 4:30 Thursday, 7-5-07, and I took four drops of Magnascent in water about a half hour ago. As I sit here I can actually FEEL my thyroid gland doing *something* for the third time in about a week, each time after taking at least 4 drops in water on an empty stomach. It feels almost like it is moving in my throat. Well I suppose if it is making hormones and injecting them into my body, a certain amount of movement is to be expected.

For years I have been fighting degenerative arthritis. I have had many successes already with many substances and methods. One thing that has eluded me is a regular, everyday good feeling, and regualr everyday flexibility. I have had many good days in the past few years but always they faltered and I was always searching for some way to keep it up. Now I think I have found it. For about 4 weeks now, starting with taking Detoxified Iodine, but then moving on to Magnascent, I have kept up a level of energy and flexibility that I mostly have not had since I was
about 38 or so (I'm 53).

I get up in the morning and within a short time I'm running through the house ready to get work done, then I'm running through my business shop and yard. At the end of every day I am solidly physically tired, but just get up and go at it all the same way again every day.

The flexibility is just unbelievable. I find myself jumping in and out of trucks and crawling under equipment and working on things while squatting or kneeling with nearly no discomfort. Squatting and kneeling were very uncomfortable for me only a few weeks ago. I used to wince at the thought of having to squat or kneel.
All of this has happened to me on only about 10-12 drops of Magnascent per day. I'm drinking about 8- 10 a day and putting about 2-4 drops a day on a couple of Heberden's Nodes on my hands. Since the endocrine system is all stimulated by iodine and the thyroid, my testosterone is up too. I don't need a test to tell that.

Bob Ansley

A case of Richard D. Norton Jr. with oral cancer had four operations found yet another tumor growing that he could see with a flash light and mirror. He used the nascent iodine for one week three times a day holding it in his mouth a few minutes and then swallowing. In a week he called to ask if the iodine colors skin. I said it was only temporary and then goes back to normal color. He said that he had lost where the cancer was. He couldn't find it. The next week Dr. Anderson his physician confirmed it was gone but they found another in a different location which he is treating it now.

The toxicity of modern life is impacting iodine levels. It is well known that the toxic halides, fluoride and bromide, having structure similar to iodine, can competitively inhibit iodine absorption and binding in the body. Americans, who are more exposed to fluoride than other populations have a desperate need for more iodine and taking iodine in its nascent form would be the best way of increasing iodine levels in the safest and most effective way possible.
In treating over 4,000 patients, Dr. Brownstein has found only three patients with “allergy” to non-radioactive inorganic iodine/ iodide. The nascent form is even less provoking meaning the chances of side effects besides a normal detoxification and chelation response would be near zero. The use of nascent iodine is simple, safe and has proven itself effective through more than a century of medical use. One should turn a deaf ear to all those cynics who would recommend pharmaceutical poisons in its place. They are not unlike the child molester using sweet words to draw an innocent into a deadly web of pain and deceit.
“We placed am 83-year-old woman on ‘ortho-iodo’ supplementation for six months at 50 mgs of elemental iodine daily. She experienced a tremendous increase in energy, endurance, well being and memory. At six months all her skin peeled off and was replaced by new, younger-looking skin. She was flabbergasted and amazed at her new appearance. In our experience older women (especially over 65) notice a major difference both physically and mentally,” wrote Dr. Guy Abraham (an endocrinologist who today is leading the movement back to the use of iodine as an essential safe and effective medicine).

For bladder Infections, try 1-2 drops of Lugol's in a glass of water, four times daily. Since iodide excretion generally exits the kidney in four hours, for a severe bladder infection give it every four hours. Some of the worst bladder infections respond to this method. Lugol's works better than antibiotics, and unlike antibiotics, the infection is not so nearly likely to return. Dr. Jonathaan Wright notes, “Although SSKI is close to 100% effective in elimination of bladder infections, this is a "high dose." If possible, it is better to use the simple sugar D-mannose (or other alcohol sugar like xylitol) to eliminate bladder infections. D-mannose is effective over 90% of the time, and is very, very safe.”
A retired Indian physician used SSKI during more than 30 years traveling from village to village in rural Africa. Most usually, the only drinking water available was from a local stream or river, muddy and contaminated. After removing sediment and debris by straining the dirty water through cheesecloth, he would add several drops of SSKI, and wait two to three minutes since most bacteria are killed within 15-30 seconds of contact (official recommendation 15-60 minutes). He and his team could then drink the water. In over 30 years, he never got an infection from contaminated water. The SSKI killed any micro-organisms present.
Preparation Disinfectant Iodine Amount/Liter

Iodine Topical Solution 2% 8 drops
Iodine Tincture 2% 8 drops
Lugol's Solution 5% 4 drops
Povidone-Iodine (Betadine®) 10% 4 drops

Final drinking concentrations are calculated at 8 mg iodine / liter. Addition of a small amount of vitamin C (50 mg) to water after contact time with iodine will render the water nearly flavorless!

We need fresh fruits and vegetables, but not insect excrement, chemicals and pathogenic bacteria that tag along. Wash all pre-packaged fruits and vegetables, even if labeled ‘pre-washed’. Gently rub fruits and vegetables under clean or iodine-disinfected running water. Soaps, detergents, bleaches or other toxic cleaning chemicals leave their own residue on produce and are no better than clean water.

some of the above info was obtained here

I spent a few hours reading

I spent a few hours reading about all this tonight and am finding it all to be quite interesting.

"Take hold of the future or the future will take hold of you." -- Patrick Dixon

Ever thought why take KI after radioactive exposure?

Our thyroids are depleted (as you say) and when huge populations are exposed to radioactive iodine (from a nuclear "accident" or weapon) then the resulting die-off diseases and cancers are a great way to read the Georgia Guidestones without all of the riff-raff in the way.

"What is potassium iodide?

Potassium iodide is a salt, similar to table salt. Its chemical symbol is KI. It is routinely added to table salt to make it "iodized." Potassium iodide, if taken in time and at the appropriate dosage, blocks the thyroid gland's uptake of radioactive iodine and thus could reduce the risk of thyroid cancers and other diseases that might otherwise be caused by exposure to radioactive iodine that could be dispersed in a severe nuclear accident." http://www.nrc.gov/about-nrc/emerg-preparedness/protect-publ...

I have a few questions... How

I have a few questions...

How much iodine is too much?

Is there anything that I can grow in the garden that supplies a good amount of iodine without having to eat unreasonable quantities?

I remember reading on a tincture of iodine bottle that it's toxic or poisonous. It seems that tincture of iodine isn't just iodine itself, though. Wikipedia has some info regarding toxicity of iodine or elemental iodine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iodine#Precautions_and_toxicity...

A few interesting quotes from the wikipedia page:

Elemental iodine (I2) is poisonous if taken orally in larger amounts; 2–3 grams of it is a lethal dose for an adult human.

Toxicity of iodide ion

Excess iodine has symptoms similar to those of iodine deficiency. Commonly encountered symptoms are abnormal growth of the thyroid gland and disorders in functioning and growth of the organism as a whole.

What are your thoughts regarding that?

Well, so far you have definitely piqued my interest. After learning a bit more I might give the iodine supplement a shot.

50 mg of iodine a day for the last year is not too much for me.

One iodine discussion group I frequent has reports of people taking 100 mg a day for years with no problem.

There has been a war against iodine waged by the medical establishment. Before antibiotics, iodine was the darling of medicine, and doses of 100 mg per day were commonly prescribed to a wide range of maladies.

But iodine (I2) and potassium iodide (KI) are very inexpensive compared to the "wonder drugs" provided by big pharma.

Do you know that you can kill yourself by drinking too much water? There is an upper limit on almost anything, so your focus on the dose of iodine that is lethal is hardly justification to avoid it. Nobody is suggesting a dose of 2 grams.

The reason that tincture of iodine has a poison warning is because of the alcohol in it, not because of the iodine; there is a very small amount of iodine in they typical 1 oz bottle of tincture of iodine.

"Bend over and grab your ankles" should be etched in stone at the entrance to every government building and every government office.

Grow in the garden?

I think You will have to look into sea vegetables.
Check out my link in the comment underneath.
They have also lots of info in the FAQ section.

I take Kelp,
it is not even expensive if You buy bulk.

If you want to take large

If you want to take large doses of iodine like I do (100mgs) then kelp is not sufficient nor cost effective if you take enough. It's also tough to find a clean source.

We have iodine receptors that get filled with toxic halogens

"IODINE why you need it why you can't live without it" and "Overcoming thyroid disorders" by David Brownstein.

They discuss iodine and the toxic halogens (bromide, chloride, fluoride, astitine). Your thyroid and every other cell has iodine receptors in it. These receptors get filled by the toxic halogens as they are very similar. The only problem is the they are toxic. In today's world (vegan, raw, cooked , SAD) whatever you eat is only part of the equation. You could overload your system with these poisons while being short on Iodine and not even know it.

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”

Iodine is toxic too,

and just try getting by without chloride in your diet. Achieving the right sub-toxic levels and balance are key.

BTW, KI pills are cheap enough. I have them at home, in my vehicle, and in my bug-out bags in case of radiological hazard.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

"Some of our recent serious skin diseases such a "flesh-eating disease" should respond quickly to topical iodine treatment practiced by Fanny. Or, for another example, iodine put onto a mosquito bite would kill all bacteria and viruses at the site of the bite within 10-30 seconds making it impossible for any virus or bacteria to multiply and get started --such as in West Nile Fever. Naturally, this applies to tic bites (Lyme's disease) as well. For many decades in the 1800s people carried around little bottles of iodine around their necks to use on all occasions. People in mosquito and tic infested areas should think of doing this again. (8) In addition, it has been forgotten vaporized iodine rapidly kills air borne viruses such as polio and SARS viruses.. Used extensively in the forties and fifties it may be of use to explore this approach again....

I bought a gallon of Betadine scrub

as part of my survival preparations. (Betadine contains a slow-release iodine compound.)

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

In the video, the speaker said that they have taken the iodine out of the bread and milk. How did they do this? If we make our own bread and buy local, unprocessed milk, does this problem go away?

It seems to me that the best way to approach this problem is to seek a natural solution rather than yet one more supplement.

I agree...

That's my MAIN problem. I fell like our bodies are not made improperly, but are MAGNIFICENTLY resilient, perfectly designed machines.
I don't really buy the whole DAILY 'vitamin' thing. I believe the reason some people need supplements is because the food they are consuming is processed crap or grown using chemical methods causing them to loose much of their nutritional value. I don't think God (or our creator) ever intended that we should need to pop a pill everyday to keep our bodies running smoothly. I feel that if it is something my body needs I should be able to find a source found in nature, and in a reasonable amount too.
I use supplements to HELP my body fight off something, not sustain it. Like medicine. I can believe that iodine could have great heath benefits and that it may cure thyroid problems, amongst other things. I can see taking a pill daily for a period long enough to fix the problem. But a pill daily for the rest of your life, that's were you loose me. I just have reservations about ANYTHING you would take on a regular basis in a form that you would not find in nature...
