It's crucial for Ron Paul to have his Own Internet TV Station now
Submitted by xyz-byreq on Tue, 12/11/2007 - 20:19The time has come for the need for an internet TV station controlled and endorsed, and owned by Ron Paul himself. Without the lies and propaganda of the main stream media.
It should be the major part of ronpaul2008.com. Or at the very least, have a major link from ronpaul2008.com to the tv website.
It needs to be controlled and endorsed by Ron Paul himself to give it credibility and viewers.
The station will be a major tool to help get Dr Paul elected now. Everytime Dr Paul speaks anywhere, it must be recorded so that the other 298 million people that were not present can watch it and rewatch it too.
This station will also be necessary after Dr Paul becomes President to:
1) Let the public know exactly what Ron Paul wants to say.
2) Be a resource so that Congressmen and Congresswomen who support the freedom message can be elected.
3) Be a balance against the usual distortions by the MSM.
4) Record what is going on for posterity in high quality. We are history in the making.
Establishing an Internet TV Station is not difficult from a technology standpoint. Some ideas toward this end can be obtained from http://www.DTVUS.com.
An Internet TV Station is a critical need because of the upcoming conversion to digital television (DTV) in Feb 2009. When everyone starts using the new cable converter boxes (that have built-in broadband) to watch TV, they will eventually watch a large part of their TV directly on the internet! Ron Paul needs to be there.
All this equipment is tax deductible. Get one of those credit cards for 2% for 12 months. Estimate less than $15,000 if you shop around not buy a package "deal"
For talent find a male-female team that does not mind shooting video several times a week. IT IS HARD WORK!!!
Find a GOOD makeup person with experience on video. Video makeup is different from still photography makeup. The makeup will make you or break you.
Production:
A 15 X 15 room with 12-15 ft ceilings
Paint the back & side walls and floor with "green screen" paint
(3) 2 Kilowatt Soft Lights from eBay - Left - Right & Center
(3) 12 Ft Light Stands (prefer the crank up type)
LCD Monitor with S-Video input (for focus/framing) + cable
Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro Mixer (8 Channel) for audio mix + cable
Sennheiser Wireless Microphone
Sennheiser headphones for monitoring
Audio Visual Cart to put the monitor/mixer
Tripod with dolly for camera
Fluid head for tripod
Panasonic DVX100A Camera or better - NTSC - DV
Procomp filter to eliminate green screen spill
Soft focus and warming filters
Teleprompter for reading news stories (PrompterPeople.com)
Computer to run the teleprompter software
Power strips/surge protectors to protect your gear.
Video Editing - SONY Vegas Video
Audio Editing - SONY Soundforge or M-Audio Protools
Audio Cleanup - WAVES Plugins (denoise is a must have)
Video Composite - green screen to computer generated background - Use "Serious Magic Ultra" now owned by Adobe
For multi-camera interviews - use the Excalibur Plugin or the one from VASST and buy another camera. Shoot 2 cameras at once and create the interview while editing.
Computer for editing (2.2GHz, Dual Core Processor, 2GB Memory, (2) X 500GB Hard Drive, Professional Audio card (built in audio is always too noisy).
Headphones for audio editing
Volunteers:
Producer / Teleprompter operator
Camera operator / Sound / Lighting
Makeup
Talent / Presenter - 1 or 2
Hope this helps

FANTASTIC IDEA however these are the facts....
It is wonderful that people are so behind this idea.
BUT, please note the original idea as submitted.
Ron Paul (or his family) MUST own the TV station.
Not you. Not me. Not INTEL spooks from the campaign. Not lawyers. Not people with egos and agendas.
No one can be trusted EXCEPT Ron Paul & his family.
Say that 100 times in your mind. If you let outsiders in such a project they will sabotage it. This means lie detector tests for all "volunteers". Want to play in a bigger game? Then come out of the clouds and implement SECURITY with a capital "S".
And also no one else will get enough viewers to make this really BIG.
It took personal requests from MANY people before Ron Paul decided to run. Now it may take personal requests from MANY people before he will agree to do a TV station.
So please start sending LETTERS (not email) to Ron Paul asking him to do this project and be adamant that he must have an UNCENSORED channel to communicate with those people in this MOVEMENT.
Again, many people can volunteer to get it started and keep it going, but ownership and control MUST be by Ron Paul.
When you write your letter, if you are qualified to help, please include your resume and what you can contribute, whether you can relocate, supply equipment, skills or whatever.
I agree to the necessity for getting the content to public access channels. That can be done locally by volunteers IF they are given access to broadcast quality content. That means the right equipment, sound, lighting and encoding as well as delivery. Multigigabyte video files would have to be loaded on a dedicated server with A LOT of bandwidth to allow the many local volunteers to download and deliver the content to their local cable access channels. Someone has to coordinate it all.
Please start writing your letters NOW to encourage Dr Paul to set aside some money to implement this project. Keep the dirtbag lawyers out of it. Use local talent (Austin, TX and/or Virginia - stay away from Washington, DC).
After the 16th, money WILL be available.
So please start writing now.
And if you get to a rally, please see if you can speak with AND hand a letter about this to Dr Paul or his family (such as Rand in Boston on the 16th).

that is a great idea! on
that is a great idea! on ronpaul2008 or on here, have Ron Paul give speeches.. maybe some online questions answered... you could either watch or listen.. maybe 3 times per week... that is a great idea! kinda like fireside chats... talking about the economy, NONnuclear Iran.. all the stuff he's told us thats wrong that is starting to show up wrong! GREAT IDEA!
"Ineptocracy: a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confisc
Don't forget the access channels too
Don't forget about cable access channels. I forget if political endorsements are forbidden in a lot of these cable franchises, but at least pro-freedom explanatory videos could be produced about the Federal Reserve, income tax, Social Security, the War on Drugs, you name it - and broadcast on these tried and true channels. Then use grassroots to get everyone you know to watch these shows. There are access channels all over the country. Many people who, believe it or not, still feel intimidated by computers (like the older folks), can still push a button and turn their TV on. The access channels are often on the low tier with the main local network affiliates, so there's a good chance people will at least flip through your pro-freedom access channel. If you spice it up enough with interesting shots, good audio (a MUST), and graphics (like the greenscreen stuff mentioned in the first thread), you can grab people's attention. AND, here's the best part, the equipment usage to produce these shows is free, or only a small fee to become an access member.

Or...
...We could pool our resources nationally to pay for some top-notch ongoing professional production (studio rental in, say, Dallas or Austin, TX - L.A. is too expensive by comparison; top ENG/EFP cameras, edit systems, etc., as well as the best professional producers, camera operators, editors - ahem, I happen to be a video professional myself for over 17 years and would be willing to do such for free in my spare time) - and just distribute copies of those pristine-looking shows to all the community access stations across the country. What do you all think? Would this work? Combine some studio production with some on-location standups with REAL investigative reporters (everyone liberty-minded with maybe a B.A. Communications/RTF background), and some B-roll of people in line for Social Security, maybe stock video of Washington (White House, the Capitol, etc.), which you can easily get from Digital Juice, etc.
Hey, the more I think about this, the more excited I am! There could be a real ongoing news magazine show about liberty issues all the time. Absolutely professionally produced, and as slick as the useless crap like Entertainment Tonight and the Insider. Same format, though. Maybe four or five segments in each show, each one talking about a different issue that affects this country. Each one debunking myths that have been perpetuated in the MSM for so many years. Intercut interviews with experts on the economy, foreign policy, and so forth. Liberty-minded experts, that is. But not overly-biased. Show equally both sides of every argument, but in the end, present evidence of why freedom works in every one of these issues.
This would take ongoing donations to work, just for production costs, but that way it would definitely NOT look like the typical crappy access show. If we could get enough donations nationwide, we could even buy airtime in one of those "infomercial" slots on "real" TV stations. Primetime airtime on "real TV" might be way too steep.
But in any case, I think the Internet TV station is a good idea, but at the same time it doesn't go far enough. We already have all the internet TV we could ever want (YouTube, etc.). What we really need is to get liberty messages out to people 24/7, EVERYWHERE. And, like it or not, that means getting it on "real TV", which a lot of people still consider the official word.

Agreed.
I am sure there are technical people who can achieve this on the net. I do not think a brick and mortar situation is the right approach. In a way, we have the TV station already through net technology. It needs to be put together by the people who know how to do this stuff.
I am sorry the campaign sucks so bad. This is not a big money thing and they could have done it by now. The website is a C-. For crying out loud WE DROVE the improvement of their website and paid for it. All we heard from these guys in the last 6 weeks is, don't wait to give the money...give it now.
I am frustrated by this pre primary flat spot. I am frustrated that we have to get a court freaking order to protect the vote counts that we are killing ourselves to get and the best thing the campaign has done is let the supporters come up with a TV ad that they aired at the debate...which by the way was freaking AWESOME. I love that ad.
Ron Paul TV must happen and can probably happen in a week. We can PR it and have the media mention it etc. Of course, the campaign could do it to but they are too busy realizing that they aren't on ballots in some states (I guess they got signatures for DC in time). God I am mad at them. Isn't there a black board with all the states in their office with the necessary check marks? I am an organizational cripple and I know that you have to manage deadlines.
rant over.
We want it more than they do.
Sometimes, I think we want it more than the campaign does.

they could play great
they could play great educational movies like freedom to facism. I think it would catch on.
run with it
..go true. but i think we OWN the internet.
it is the unfortunate drones that we are trying to reach who are too lazy, numbed, or ignorant to look on a computer or too caught up in hate religions or chaining themselves to a sequoia.
or too old and still trust what the t.v. says.
ron knows this. that is why he has mass mailers, local radio, and phone calls...and t.v. when he can get it.
i haven't come across anyone on the internet that doesn't know who ron paul is.
it is the people offline that do not.
but, MORE IS BETTER in elections...so DO IT...it will most likely touch a few offliners too, indirectly.
yup
I agree with everything you said.
I've been saying we've saturated the internet (your phrase "own"), so slim pickins. (that's why I thought "Google Ron Paul" on the blimp was lame.
If they can google, they've GOOGLED, fer cryin out loud.
Nope it's corny old tv, print and boots from here on in. Oh, and the occasional shocking stunt!
I'm gettin ready for a TEA PARTY!
Do it!
There is so much great RP stuff scattered all over the internet to add to the archives, and having new fresh content every day would be a HUGE plus to the campaign.

I have thought about this
I have thought about this idea too, but never put the revolution to it- its a great idea!! We have fox, cnn, msnbc, and ron paul. I would watch the ron paul station for all my news. I think it would grow too.
Another Great Idea from the Grass
root folks! We're talking about a campaign that is raising $15-$20 million dollars, and wondering how to spend it. Ron Paul is about the most dignified dude out there.....but his official campaign staff is looking a little suspect. The Ron Paul folks don't care about that too much, as long as they don't get in the way to success! A TVweb site and show would be just like the blimp-----cutting edge!
