Union rates subsidized with taxpayer money?
I haven't yet confirmed this info, but I figure that if anyone knows about it then it's probably one of my friends here at the DP...
Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcXoWmfDCOI
In the video the guy mentions how his brother works in the building industry & the big profits posted were just BS... but that's not why I'm posting this message.
The reason why I'm posting this is that the guy also stated that since the builders want to go non-union (in order to reduce costs) the unions went and made a deal with the Obama administration. The deal is that the builders get the union workers at non-union rates and... here's the kicker... stimulus money is used to subsidize those rates to bring them back up to union scale. The guy mentions something like $20k union rate - $12k non-union rate = $8k savings for the builders per house... but the taxpayers pay for that $8k difference in order so that the unions can still get their union rates. It sure sounds like a scam if I've ever heard one. Does anyone know if this is actually happening? Is it true?
