It's official - Ron Paul will be speaking at the SRLC!
As you can see at srlc2010.com, RP is now listed as a speaker. So there's no longer any doubt. It's also been confirmed by RP on his Facebook site.

Don't you guys think we should promote this as best we can starting now?
We can win this. In 2006 the total number of votes in the straw poll was a little over a thousand. There will probably be many more this year, but if we can get 500 to 1000 (or more) people to show up and vote for RP, we've got a great shot at winning. RP almost won the Louisiana primary in 2008; this should be a piece of cake.
And if we won it would be huge. According to a Sarah Palin site:
"SRLC is the Real Proving Ground for Gauging A POTUS Run"
"According to Politico’s Ben Smith, the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) is “the first real chance to gauge the interest in her candidacy among the core of Republican activists and operatives” (Painter, 2010, ¶11). Peter Hamby, of CNN describes SRLC as “a major gathering of Republican officials, donors and activists from 14 southern states” (Hamby, 2010, ¶2). “Political watchers will be paying close attention, and not just because several potential presidential candidates are expected to attend. The SRLC – ‘the most prominent Republican event outside of a Republican National Convention,’ the organization boasts – also conducts a presidential straw poll”
Let's make it happen people.

It would help to give the dates.
* New Orleans
* April 8 - 11 2010
This info should appear in the post. If you're trying to muster attendance at an event, the date(s) is one of the most important pieces of information to give out.
New Hampshire and Ecuador
I'm glad it's the SRLC not SPLC,
just imagine Ron Paul speaking at the Southern Poverty Law Center, heads exploding.
Napolitano: "We need Ron Paul now!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3k3JNRTVI0Q
I think it would be an excellent exposure for them.
Not terribly safe for HIM, however.
How many here are going to the Big Easy?
Wifey and I are going. Hope they'll be plenty of C4L and RP supporters. I'm sure I'll need to bring my ear plugs for a good portion of the conference.
Ron Paul, the SLRC, and opportunity for freedom
Every significant opportunity to aid Ron Paul, and his supproters should be seized! However, don't put all our eggs in one basket, and continue to explore what to do if (by neocon dirty tricks or otherwise) Ron Paul does NOT do well in their strawpoll. It would be wonderful if Ron Paul repeats his CPAC victory, but it shouldn't be disastrous of we fail...
There still ought to be ways to hit the ground running, especially since public opposition to the recently enacted Obama deathcare is growing by the moment, and there is ever greater apprehension about the FED and what it is doing to what remains of the US Dollar, along with appreciation of Ron Paul's public and articulate opposition.
As of yet, mass opposition to the wars of Dear Leader (Iraq--still--Afghanistan, Pakistan, and now Yemen, not to mention Iran) is still in the formative stage, but I suspect that as things continue to get worse domestically, there will be renewed interest in an America-First type of peace movement, which WE will have to create, if anyone does! The formerly antiwar left has (for the most part) sold itself to the big B-O, and would probably oppose us, at least at first, as fervently as they support their Dear Leader and his puppets in the American Reichstag.
PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

RP just got into this thing a couple of weeks ago and Sarah has
been advertising she is going for months and months. I'm sure she has a LOT of people there. I think RP is always ready to try to influence thinking, regardless of straw polls, and I'm proud of him for it. I'm trying not to get my hopes up about the straw poll.
Think of his CPAC speech, it wasn't exactly "I'm just like you, love me", it was, this is what I think and why I think it and I want to challenge your preconceptions based on the neoconservative party line that has been shoved down your throats in the last 10 years.
And today Pawlenty, who polled badly at CPAC pulled out
coincidence?
More, this says Romney will be with Pawlenty in Minn. on April 9.
Looks like both are dodging the straw poll.
http://blog.taragana.com/politics/2010/03/24/minnesota-gov-p...
Oh, I'm CERTAIN it was no coincidence! He was billed there
for months. He just didn't want another bad loss to RP. He could afford to lose to Sarah in her heartland, but not in a landslide to multiple candidates, again.
That's too bad because he was
That's too bad because he was going to help split up the Neo-Con vote in order to help Ron Paul reign supreme at the top of the poll...
This pleases me greatly
Good to see. Good, good, good. Scurry away.
Ron Paul could steal the show!
If his staff was clever, they would arrange for him to accept the invitation from James Carville (the Mouth of the South) to speak to his political science classes at Tulane University while in New Orleans. The invitation was made public on the Larry King show. Carville is quite the staunch Democrat, but he also respects the integrity of Ron Paul, and what else can he do but offer a public platform at Tulane? This would make huge headlines. James Carville would see to that! And what a chance for Ron Paul to demonstrate the ability to actually "work" across party lines. He'd probably pick up tons of media and independent supporters, right there in the GOP's back yard picnic. Sean, Newt, and the rest of the GOP gofers only wish they were invited to Tulane.
alan laney
Carville made snide 'kook' remarks about him as soon as
Ron Paul got off the Larry King interview. I don't see why we need to give Carville publicity.
Carville won't be voting for Ron Paul, but
he did extend the invitation to address his classes. Maybe those folks vote. Just consider the news reports. 1. Ron Paul accepts James Carville's invitation to speak at Tulane. 2. Sign up for class exceeds class size. 3. Ron Paul's speaking engagement commands larger venue, moves to big auditorium. 4. Ron Paul and James Carville to have open dialoge on stage 5. Attendence swells. 6. All media reqeust press passes. 7. CNN and FOX to air question and answer session..........the list could go on and on!
alan laney
I guess I just don't see Carville generating that much interest.
If he'd get a bigger audience, then by all means...
Somebody get this idea to Ron Paul
I live outside of his district and his official office won't accept my e-mail, and when I called his office, his staffer didn't even know who Carville is! Duh.
Suggestion for new Ron Paul campaign slogan:
Ron Paul for President,
Because We're Americans First
alan laney
As a Tulane alum
I'd be soooo jealous. Maybe I could fly to New Orleans and re-enroll for the day.
I agree, alaney! A HUGE opportunity!
I hope Ron will accept the invitation!!
"I think we are living in a world of lies: lies that don't even know they are lies, because they are the children and grandchildren of lies." ~ Chris Floyd
Bump! I hope we can at least
Bump! I hope we can at least poll in at 15%...
Ron Paul''s address to a bunch of GOPers
I hope that the members of the "stupid party" give him more respectful and thoughful attention than they have been giving him so far...
The other speakers at the SRLC seem to be to Ron Paul what fiat paper "money" is to solid 24-carat Gold, or what a brilliant sparkling diamond would be in a room full of lumps of coal. There is nothing wrong with paper, as long as it is NOT recognised as money, and coal has its uses, but certainly NOT those of a diamond.
At least an alternative, and long overdue, vision of the Republican (and perhaps even the Democratic) Party will be presented. A profoundly better, and more libertarian type of politics, economics and law can be offered. Let us see if visitors and contributors there are smart enough to take advantage of what Ron Paul so articulately will offer!
PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

Well
I'll be damned
Right there on the top
This should be interesting, and fun
S. Palin signed up for this months ago, before the tea party,
I am sure she has tons of tickets and organization behind it by now.
I hope RP wins, but we are entering this pretty late, so I'm telling myself not to be disappointed if it doesn't happen.
According to whom?
According to a Sarah Palin site:
"SRLC is the Real Proving Ground for Gauging A POTUS Run"
...so says the person who got 7% at CPAC.
I live in the area
I would like to go..are there any people from the New Orleans metro area that would like to get together and go to this? Please respond to my comment if so.

Battle of New Orleans 2010
I personally like the battle of New Orleans site idea. If anyone plans on going, make sure you count yourself on that site. Let's get that counter moving and get some momentum rolling. We all know how these progress meters can be helpful.
