Please stop being hysterical about the 2010 Census

http://2010.census.gov/2010census/how/interactive-form.php

There's nothing really intrusive about the Census, Comcast or Verizon have already much more information about you then the Census is asking for. The answers for the Census are already available on the internet for free or $4.99.

I understand some of you don't like the fact that some of the questions are uncostitutional, I agree with you and I respect your standing, but please stop fabulating about CIA or FBI needing the Census in order to be able grab ya.

What I send Verizon (or AT&T, so long as they have iphone)

is voluntary. And if they don't keep it private, I can sue.

I'm not 'hysterical', I'm just pissed.

It's called Freedom

This is a general response to those who don't like when liberty lovers (seem to) question everything the Federal Government does.

It's our duty to question the government. It's our duty to slow it down. It's OUR DUTY to be paranoid of the Federal Government. These things are what keeps government small.

If you're not paranoid ENOUGH about government then what good are you?

lol

Agreed. The census is a mere formality.

I'm sure "they" already have the data they need if they are out to nab an individual. This is about simplifying the data collection for making giant generalities regarding regions of the country.

I don't think there would be much protest over the census if the American Community Survey wasn't piggy-backing on the system. There is a big difference between the regular census form which is sent out to everyone rarely and the ACS form which is sent out to random citizens throughout the year, every year. The ACS is bad. It would have been the 2010 census if there wouldn't have been an uproar by citizens. Thank the hysterics of the vigilant.

What "hysteria"?

I'm going to answer the census telling them everything they need to know, and certainly as much or more than is authorized by the Constitution.

They do NOT need to know what race I am or whether I own my own home.

And why should I help contribute to the inevitable affirmative action programs that the Republicrats will propose to fix the racial "inequities" they spin out of the data?

If you think THAT is paranoid then you must have been sleeping through the last five decades.

Question # 1 technicality

I know that i am just blabbering here but thought that i would poke fun at an organization who is requesting us to become futuristic fortune tellers.

Question 1 "How many people WERE living or staying in this house, apartment or mobile home ON April 1, 2010? "

In order to answer this question truthfully, shouldn't it be filled out AFTER April 1? Sorry, this just amuses me since they want this thing within 10 days of receipt. HA

I am just

giving # of people age (not DOB) and maybe sex. In the phone number section I am filling in MAY-NOT-CALL. No names. My neighbor is just not going to send his in with the hopes he won't get a visit. They can't go to every house that doesn't send it in.
I would ask that you all be kind to the enumerators that visit your home. They are just temporary workers. I have done it in the past. If you don't want to answer just kindly ask them to leave and request that no one else be sent to your home or contact you. Unless they are rude of course.
My form says nothing about fines for not participating or false info.
Oh and for race I am putting human

We got the short form yesterday

Basically they want to know the name, age, birth date and "racial makeup" of each individual at the address.

No social, income, or whatever. Seems very much focused on race, not much else.

Still not sure how I'm going to respond. Instead of answering "white", considering listing my European ancestry by nationality.

Whatever

RON PAUL 2012

Idea?

I think if we are going to respond to the race question, we should all pick one or all put other/human. Or, what if everyone in the US put down Hispanic? Wouldn't that throw the DC morons in a tizzy.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

How about "Native American" for race?

I mean, you were born here, right? Me too; I'm a native American. :)

Census

I was thinking of putting a Ron Paul bumper sticker in the return envelope with an attached note saying the following, ..." Come and get me coppers, you lousy commie traitors!".

Here's a thought for you

You go ahead and submit to whatever demands you wish to from whomever makes them, that's your business. However, you have no right to demand and require that anyone else does the same, nor does anyone else have the right to demand or require compliance from anyone else on your behalf.

Sound good to you?

Just wondering

How is Ron Paul going to answer his? Anyone know?

I got my idea from Dr. Paul

In one of his straight talk telephone messages, he said that outside of the headcount, all other questions could easily be answered with "none of your business." I was a bit more tactful than that, but I only answered the questions dealing with numbers in the household.

Agree

This website is becoming a conspiracy site. There is more Alex Jones garbage posted here than political content to allow our liberty minded candidates to win elections. I think the owner of this site should consider this as a problem. If he doesn't think it is a problem, then it is what it is, a conspiracy site.

hehehehe...oh Crunchy

do you know the definition of Conspiracy?
Politics fits right into that definition.

There's a longer census

I don't have a problem with the form most people are getting, but they are sending three million, eleven page, forty-eight question ACS surveys as well. This is where I have a problem.I have a feeling the Census Bureau is going to play hardball with this one. They have posted a $5,000 fine for wrong information.I for one will not pay the fine and will be willing to go to jail.We can no longer tolerate a government that disregards our Constitution.I believe it is time for civil disobedience.

who gets the long form?

Is it people who fill out the short form? Like they are agreeing to more inquiries by filling it out?

I opened mine up and was pleasantly surprised at how short the thing was. And thought to myself..."wow I must look like a mental idiot now warning everyone about the intrusive questions the Census will be asking."

"Independent Pursuit?"

Of what? Unconditional compliance?
The Federal Government overreaches in everything they do. There are VERY few places where citizens even have an opportunity to resist without immediate and dire consequences.
Of course, you are correct, They know more about me than I do, so why are they even bothering with the census? A nice example of how being correct does not make you right. The RIGHT thing to do is NOT quietly submit to the whims of a tyrannical, unlawful, utterly corrupt government.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

Please stop being submissive

Please stop being submissive and exhibiting slave behaviour! We're Americans and supposed to be free, we're supposed to kick ass and take names. The least we can do is educate census workers and refuse to cooperate with rogue corporations posing as government.

The way you keep bringing up

The way you keep bringing up this topic is starting to seem that you might be the one who is hysterical about it.

...

It's not hysteria...

It's an important symbolic act of civil disobedience and a reminder to the govt "workers" of the restraints in the Constitution.

It's education for them...

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

Just filled out my 2010 Census form

I answered the first 2 questions regarding how many people lived at my address. That's the only reason for the census based on the constitution. Right? At question 3 I wrote in "see back of form," where I wrote: "According to article 1 section 2 of the U.S. Constitution, this census is only intended as a numerical count for the purposes of determining the number of seats for my state in the U.S. House of representatives. Any other requested information is superfluous and unnecessary." I figure I'll see a census worker at my door before too long.

Will do the same

Just numbers in my family and that is all, but will be nice to the census worker and explain that the IRS already have anything else the government needs from me. Why duplicate efforts?

Calm Down

Do not worry
We are here to help.

We're from the government.

Independent, you're right

They are hysterical lacking any sense of proportion. To many there's a boogieman around every corner.
I filled my census out today. I tried to find a question that was outrageous, but was unsuccessful.
Those who get upset over nothing only destroy their own credibility. They see conspiracies everywhere.

You are missing the point - again

I, personally, do not think the unconstitutional questions on the census are for the CIA or anything overtly harmful. However, as Ron Paul said, it is really a conspiracy of ideas, not an evil conspiracy. The people who want the information are going to use it to increase the socialism/fascism agenda of using public funds (credit which we pay interest on) and giving it to "groups" and "demographics".

I just watched "Ghandi" last night for the first time in decades. If you watch the beginning of the film, telling the story of Ghandi in South Africa, his civil disobedience began with rejections of identification systems and putting he and the Hindus and Muslims into a separate layer of society. That is my rejection of anything in the census beyond enumeration - Civil Disobedience. It is what Ron Paul encouraged as the only way to make a statement.

So, while it is a small action with little consequence if any, to reject it as hysterical (without rational thought) is insulting and missing the point.

Since you continue to post the same tripe...

I'll continue to give you the same answer. This is my response to you telling us to calm the **** down over the census, so here's my response to your opinion that there is hysteria over the census...

"RIGHT ON, IT'S JUST A CENSUS, and the FED is just a bank, and hey, there's just a security checkpoint, and over there's just a guy who used to be called a "peace officer" but is now trained to demolish anyone who makes eye contact with him, and look over there, it's a representative getting a payoff from a lobbyist for backing his armament manufacturer, and beside that representative is another who's going to vote to extend an unjust war half a globe away...

Complacency is why we are at this terrible point, so, I think I'll just stay riled up for the time being. I'd suggest you do the same. Vigilance is a flaw only in the eyes of the ill-prepared, just like patriotism is a flaw in the minds of the uneducated."

Assert Your Authority

hmmm

I don't see comcast throwing citizens in camps..do you? How can anyone with half a friggin brain not be worried about giving up the information that these people want..nevermind the fact that they tried to get gps markers for your front door.

You would have to have your head buried pretty far into the sand to ignore the Japanese roundup during WWII. Their main tool? The Census, yep how easily the "privacy guarantee" can fade away with just a pen stroke called an executive order.

They need a number, that's all. Now how about you stop clogging up the daily paul with your census loving government cheering nonsense. Everyone on here is an individual who will make their own choices.. make yours and get to work for liberty and freedom for all. Or are you even interested in those things?

Please stop telling me what to think.

Please stop trying to rationalize the census.
Please go be weak somewhere else.
