There's a Registered Trademark symbol at top of census form

It's in the top left corner of the front page.

It's really tiny, but get a magnifying glass and look at it. Yep, it's the capital "R" inside a circle, just to the right of the final s in United States.

Third try. My newsreader is resolving the entities to their characters,
even double-processing my attempts to prevent it, making most of my
explanation ridiculous. Hopefully, your newsreaders are not doing so.

If you want to see logo & trademark, just do a google image search for "united states census 2010" and it'll come right up. Personally, I just think it's a trademark for the phrase. More penalties if abused and used for fraud and all that.

Here's an example of the logo:

They're not claiming that they've registered "United States" as a trademark, they're claiming that they've registered that logo where "United States" is nestled in above "Census" which is centered over "2010".

Post stuff like this and you'll get all the "The/These United States" and if-they-write-my-name-in-all-caps-they're-referring-to-the-legal-fiction-of-me-not-the-real-me nutjobs coming out of the woodwork. :-)

not like it matters this day and age... None of the fines would stand up in court. Yup... even our lousy courts aren't that blatant... It's an illusion. Throw it out.

Son of a BI***!!...Lisa I would scan it but it's not viewable without a magnifying glass. It's the size of a period and probably wouldn't scan well. Since when is "United States" a registered trade mark?

I just looked up trade mark

I just looked up trade mark registration and the information says one must file an application and have it approved in order to use the "r with a circle" symbol or it's a federal offense.
My husband is questioning whether the symbol is for the entire thing. It looks something like this:

UNITED STATES (teeny tiny TRADEMARK SYMBOL)
CENSUS
2010

I'm asking him why wouldn't the symbol be after the 2010 then. Any insights?

Is there some special font they are using?

If you've ever looked at stuff from Canada, they always use the same font/logo.

Could it be something like that?
